It is a practical way to learn some traditional style and grabling technique.I usually like to learn this type of art .it is amazing and useful for me.thanks a lot of for azuma talashi sensei.
@@DavidTheFlyingGuy2000 I have trained and competed in kudo and know the entire background to its development from oyamas kyokushinkai .However, there is no fundamental karate i it anymore because they found boxing and kickboxing more effective for match fighting. Self defense however is not often a match fight howver .
as a Kyokushin practitioner, I would like nothing more than to take up Kudo but no Dojos like that here in Florida, but it's cool, I love practicing Kyokushin!
this is the real thing. a lot better than the traditional kyokushin and muay thai i guess. i wish the kancho of different kyokushin organizations would realize that martial arts have evolve tremendously due to the rise of ufc and mma. grabbing an opponent or punching the face is a natural instinct during a fight or competition, so it should be allowed in competitions so that fighters or players would know how to deflect face punches. some of the IKO rules are so unreal. imagine kicking and punching each other for 2 to 3 minutes during competitions without pushing or grabbing, thats ridiculous. just my 2 cents. still, respect to all martial arts. osu
well that's absoltey true, a master Patrick Levet in Vovinam Viet Vo Dao has reform the traditionnal style with more practical aspects and all, it's impressive. But old masters and tradition don't recognize this (check out Integral vovinam)... Just another example of this conflict
My old Karate teacher had 2 degrees of Kudo black belt. And though we often did light-contact sparring to faces, he had me do more Kyokushin-style sparring. He said the kyokushin style is less useful for street fight but better in the sense that we could keep Karate training for longer time w/o so much damage on the brain. Whether your point is on or off the money depends on the reason for training of each individual.
I've done western boxing for 40 yrs and judo for the last 24 yrs and recognise Kudo potential ...but there is no room for any Katas or patterns as they are utter bullshite ...oh yeah Shadow box yeah but not a series of immaculately delivered silly blocks and square on punching like in shotokan !!
Love this art. Can you tell me if there is a school in the state of Washington? And if not. Are there instuctional dvds from beginner to advanced that could be purchased so that I can start training. Thank you for all your help. Peace to you and yours always! : )
Marshall Pierre I agree if we talk about "do" styles. Shotokan, judo, aikido. More philosophical than harmfull in my opinion is good tradition to follow. More peacefull. P.S. karate daido juku as well as kyokushin I don't count as "do" styles even if daido juku call itself "kuDO". Peace.
@@games4us132 Technically war will never be over due to human nature. There's probably a war going on right now without you knowing of it. However, besides the warfare factor, MA's has a place in society that can help develop a warrior mindset and a healthy body if trained properly and safely. Just giving my 2 cents there even though this thread is a year old.
Krav maga hahahaha people and their perspectives. 'i've seen Israeli forces use it against defenceless kids and massacre them so it must be the best!' What krav maga technique has ever made it to cage fighting that hasn't been covered by other arts before? 'you can't use krav maga in cages dude, as it'll kill' Nincompoops. Makes a krav maga reference just to show 'i know some stuff' while wheezing his last nose boogy out
@@carlogianni1216 You could say the same thing about karate, kung-fu etc. Pretty much all the traditional asian martial arts got debunked in the early days of the UFC/MMA

i don't know anyone practicing shidokan karate nor know their detailed competition rules, but the only difference i could find is that shidokan competitions are held in boxing rings as opposed to the open mat space for kudo. I'm sure there are some other minor differences in competition rules, but the concept seems to be pretty much the same.
I say this is an evolution of Kyokushin. Back when Mas Oyama formed Oyama Karate (first iteration of Kyokushin), head punches and throws were part of the curriculum (Mas Oyama himself was a black belt in Judo)
