As a Giants fan, Buster is one of the best role models any team could ever ask for. Choosing his family over the game just cements how he sets a good example for star athletes. That said, the hole he leaves is going to be nearly impossible to fill.
I consider Buster Posey the most important piece of the 3 World Series titles in 2010, 2012 and 2014. Matt Cain doesn’t pitch his perfect game without him. Which is why I found myself crying when I heard the news. Shocked yet not really surprised. It felt like the time when I fell in love with a longtime friend who broke it off because of parental obligations. It hurt like hell but I understood his decision. Best wishes to Buster, Kristen and their kids. So honored I got to see Buster’s entire career as a San Francisco Giant.
Buster is a HOFmr for sure. It’s a bitter sweet. Thanks Buster for everything you did for the Giants organization. You will be missed. Take care of that family. You are truly blessed.
I miss him so much already. I can’t remember ever feeling so sad about a player leaving. The memories of watching him come in and take over for Benji Molina and leading a staff of Lincecum, Cain, Bumgarner, Sanchez to our first World Series in nearly 60 years will never be forgotten. Watching him go through gruesome injury and following up the next year with an MVP and another World Series was incredible. As he progressed in his career, he helped groom the next generation of pitchers. What a great leader and classy guy. He was always humble and played the game the right way. It was a pleasure seeing his whole career from start to finish. Can’t wait to see his statue at the park…
Buster was the heart and soul of the Giants. He is their unsung leader that led them to all their success and championships. A true HOF player without a doubt. We'll miss our MVP!
Buster should be a first ballot guy in five years. Plus his collision with Scott Cousins fundamentally altered the game forever to protect the catcher.
A Cubs fan looks at his rates stats & great defense over 10+ seasons and says hell yeah he's a HOFer. I really hope he doesn't get a Ron Santo like shaft, but don't think he will.
I’ll miss buster as a player , as A leader ! Most of all he’s a Giant to us in baseball world and a Giant to his family ! Enjoy buster you brought us great memories!
Buster Posey has been the heart of the Giants for many years, along with the two Brandon's and the some pitchers. It is very sad to hear this news. He is a true professional and a truly good guy. I wish Buster the best.
I remember watching his first game with my dad on TV I think he hit a double his first AB if not mistaken, he had a glow u knew he was gonna do good but what he did is amazing my generations babe Ruth gonna miss watching him
The network announcers failed to note during the L.A.-Giants playoffs that Buster Posey was the first right handed hitter to hit a home run into McCovey cove. I’m sure it wouldn’t have been lost by Kruk and Kuip.
This makes me sad as a baseball fan even though I am a Dodger fan. At the same time, I realize that someone can retire at 34 while the rest of sheepy fans who want to throw money at them still work or have to find work during this uncertain times. That makes me sad too.
Greatest Giant ever. Got himself and a few others 3 rings; a few others 2 rings. Only the '21-'22 Giants players got 2 rings. The San Francisco part of the franchise had no rings until Buster showed up. Plus, he won a Batting Title, MVP award,, Silver Sluggers, and a Gold Glove. McGraw got 3 rings, but as a manager, not a player. He was on the roster for the 1905 team as a player for just a handful of player appearances. Giants - Thy name is Buster Posey. For me, it's Buster and Joe Montana. They both brought multiple championships to The City where there had been none. Steph is similiar, although Al Attles genius coaching job in the 1976 playoffs brought the first basketball championship with the help of Rick Barry's on court leadership and performance. That's the company Buster will always keep. Thanks for the memories Buster! I hope you have thought about coaching and managing for some future day. The game will always be better when you are around it.
@@tommydong8070 Yes. Ryan Vogelsang, who had started out with the Giants before 2010 and gone elsewhere and then returned after 2010; Tim Hudson; Jake Peavey; Marcos Scutaro; Hunter Pence. Even Zito, who was left off of the 2010 playoff roster entirely, but was there for his career season in 2012. The 2010 team had all vets from other teams - Huff, Sanchez, Renteria, Uribe, Burrell, Torres, and Ross among others.
As a Dodger fan... I'm estatic! That dude was the biggest bat in your line up every day. You will be notably weaker next year. On a real note, this dude is the best catcher of his generation better than molina and he needs to be right there on the SF Giant mount Rushmore of players. I hope Will Smith turns up to be half the player Posey is. Viva Los Doyers!
Life is about retirement.posey knew it was time and I respect his decision.theres one thing more important than a job,and that's a family.enjoy your retirement, buster posey.
BUSTER POSEY PLAYED WITH SUCH CLASS BEHIND HOME PLATE! I HAVE WATCHED HIM FOR 12 YRS! I LOVE HIM AND WLL DEARLY MISS HIM! BE A DADDY OUR BABIES GROW TOO FAST! 🖤🧡🖤🧡🖤🧡🖤🧡
Goodbye Buster………….and thanks for everything. I feel fortunate to have watched Buster Posey and Brandon Crawford play their entire careers with my beloved Giants.
True legends know when it’s time to walk away. No better time to walk away than when you’re on top. We’ll always remember Buster as the best - no steep decline - no lackluster final year or 2 hanging on for the sake of hanging on. We love you Buster, you and your family will always have a home and all the love you can absorb from the City and from the fan-base. Truly FOREVER GIANT!
Posey isnt a hofer. Lance Parrish isnt even in the hall yet! If you put Posey in the Hall, you gotta put in a whole lot of players in there from many different positions. Terry Steinbach, Javy Lopez, Elston Howard, Lance Parrish(Parrish hit 324 home runs), and many other catchers. Then you go to other positions! Are you gonna put Fred Lynn and John Mayberry in the Hall? no!
A bitter sweet day in baseball. It is sad news but a well earned retirement for one of the best catchers ever in baseball. Buster is a role model as a catcher, hitter, team mate, captain, and a gentleman/family man. Over all real outstanding person. We are going to miss Buster but he left us with a career of Giants memories and championships.... ahh and those Buster Hugs.
With his bat, I always thought Buster would make a good DH or first baseman. I would think his body would have enough left in the tank for that, but I'm sure he can afford to retire. Wish he was staying, but thank you Buster. You are one of the Giant greats.
F-ing sucks. I thought he stay for the last option year. I remember going to a game late in '09 when he wasn't playing full time yet and was warming up some of the relievers.
He will make a great Giants manager someday if he chooses to. Best to you Buster, and thanks for your great contributions to the Giants and making MLB fun again.
I think Buster Posey should be put in the hall of fame, however as far as Barry Bonds in My opinion he is a Cheater and I hope he NEVER GETS IN!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I wonder if Posey just got tired of trying to stay in playing shape/getting physically beat up. As the old saying goes, always leave them wanting more. Better to leave too early than too late. As for HOF...if he isn't voted in conventionally, the veteran's committee will put him in Duane Kuiper looks a bit better...
Rookie of the Year, MVP, Multiple Silver Slugger awards, Comeback Player of the Year, Career 300 Hitter, 7-time All-Star, Batting Champ, Gold Glove and THREE TIME World Series Champ in ten years. He missed 2020 due to covid and most of 2011 with injuries. Best catcher of his era...nobody handled a staff better. Absolutely clutch in the playoffs and World Series. I could go on... How can he not be a HOFer?
@@MKGreenCCCC you make a strong case but I think he falls into the Don Mattingly category also a great player of his era. Unfortunately the hall is for players who were great over a very long period of time his overall numbers are just not there but you certainly make a strong case and as I said love the guy
@@jkrasney1 Thurman Munsons stats are pretty much the same and he is not in and Jorge Posada is not in either but they are two examples of excellent catchers with similar numbers who are not in. His career numbers don't get you in the hall but I agree he was an excellent player and would take him on my team any day of the week
