I met grand master SUH at my KUK SOOL WON school in Davison Michigan many yrs ago. He was super human! He told me that skill is not the issue, but spirit. The spirit is the force of power in a man and if the spirit is strong, the man will be strong. To be nothing but skill will not win without spirit. For the pain is fought in blood but the spirit is fought in spirit. Therefore the spirit which is strongest will shed more blood than the weak in spirit. That moved me greatly and helped me get my black belt! He was truly wise and one of a kind!!

And people give In-Hyuk Suh shit about this not being a real martial art, he made it after the death of his Grandfather who taught him the basics. I respect Hyuk Suh and acknowledge how great of a martial art he put together.

This is why I need more practice, I've met KukSaNim and he is kind and awesome. The ki-breathing has also improved my health, verified by my doctor, so its not a fake art. And these negative comments, this is why I hate it when people down this martial art i've tried evading these techniques but when Strength+Technique are combined one of these situational techniques will get you when you least expect it, so there is not really any "Resistance" unless you have really good awareness. So for and end comment for all of the fellow KukSoolWon students who understand this phrase "WE NEED MORE PRACTICE" and have a very good day!!

Plus... He's over 70 years old... He's retired from teaching. I'm a student of his, see him & speak with him at least twice yearly. Do you? Those of us who strap on a black belt from his system, feel privileged to do so. We know from experience just how impressive it is. We KNOW from experience what it takes to earn a WKSA black belt. If you'd ever felt a single one of those joint locks properly applied... THAT would impress you.

I'm in kuk sool won and personally it's better than hapkido, or Krav maga. There are soo many techniques, forms, hand to weapon, its a good martial art.

It doesn`t look like much on camera, but to have it done to you, hurts like hell! You have no idea unless you are a student of KUK SOOL WON. You know how much pain that is felt from these simple looking grabs! Pressure points will put you on the floor begging for mercy! It hurts bad!!

It is what you make it, kuk sool won covers a lot of different aspects so it does take a long time to learn. The techniques give you good basis which when combined with other arts such as kick boxing and jujitsu it's fairly devastating .

Kuk Sa Nim really is amazing and he's such a nice guy! And really, the pressure points do work. I'm not one of HIS students but I practice Kuk Sool and I've had the, uh, pleasure, of having his son Master Alex show a technique on me during a seminar. :] -JKN Ashley

1 thing people should realize is that if they didn't flip like that they would have broken wrists. The kuk sool won wrist locks are quite real and painful.

Hey this demo is pretty awesome. Have you guys checked out the video "kuk sool won ki bon su-gene gause #19". I was wondering, those techniques are very similar, and most identical to the ki bon su in Hapkido, which is one of the style I study. Anyone know the correlation?

@slicerlml Can I ask you a question what would have this master do get in a knock down drag out with his partner and fight him so he can demonstrate his skill? All I saying is that these days everybody is so worried about what will and will not work in a fight. If you are a true martial artist then you should be trying to avoid fights anyway. Martial arts are about self defense and that doesn't mean a guy calls you and an ass in a bar and then you kick his butt.

The highest ranking WKSA master in the Midwest is located in St. Louis. (He's 6th Dan - - and my school owner's, instructor's, instructor.) There are large schools in Brentwood, O'Fallon, and in Peoria. There's also a school in O'Fallon, Illinois and four other schools in Illinois. If you're interested, let me know and I can get you the phone numbers, or I could call the school and introduce you to them. I'm off to Black Belt class right now! Let me know, Ok?

I respect martial arts, some highly and some not. Having trained in the WKSA for 7 years, I have learned more in Kong Shin Bup (we learn the original kuk sool hapkido curriculum and, believe me, it hurts more the in the slight ways we have modified it. WKSA is a political money hungry dog that will never allow cross-training in other methods. I have no respect for the "one art, one master" mentality they have. Last summer, I met many masters and grand masters, such as Kenneth MacKenzie, from N.A. and Europe. This year, the same thing, but it will include (former) Dojunim Hae Ji Han, creator of S(hee)n Moo Hapkido and guest villain in the Game of Death. We are strongly encouraged to look at other arts. I research and learn principles from everyone, but Burrese, McMann, and others have solidified what I already believed. In all-out, death or life self-defence, KSW, hapkido, tkd, aikido, karate, etc will not be much use.

I studied Kuk Sool Won in my mid-teens and can personally vouch that some of the techniques are some seriously sick, wicked shit. Some of these guys will rapidly fuck up your whole life. I'm talking some guys by the looks you would'nt think. Fat, old, bald guys that would skate around you and methodicly break it off in your ass. For me personally their was too much pagentry & politics. I got up to deputy black belt and my next test was for black. It was $300 about 17yrs ago so i quit.

badboycancer69: I broke away from WKSA back in 1990 because of the politics, I was 1 of 6 people that was graded to 1st degree in 1989 at St Joseph Island Ontario Canada and we all had to go to Detroit Michigan in October 1989 to pickup our 1st degree certificates from in Hyuk Su personally at Randy Macgee’s tournament, the other 5 eventually broke away 6-7 years later, It was later found that In Hyuk Su is actually a 4 degree not 10th as he claims and the WKSA eventually got audited by the IRS.

@MsBebold in this movie he acts nikyo(二教),second grappling style,but he turns his back to enemy...the attitude is abominable act in martial art. if enemy hide knife,he will be killed..in Dojo you should keep steady tense feeling even you are teacher.moreover its not important to grip strong anymore in the gripping waza,to concentrate your force to the your tummy point Tanden(丹田) and twist your hip. korean can't think the reason(理) kotowari...

Perhaps the trick is to have really strong fingers? They might work better if you're able to really dig into the opponent's skin, you know? I don't know for sure, I'm just throwing out ideas.
@jstbay
@jstbay 13 лет назад
@slicerlml someone who can actually fight keeps their cool. when you've fought a lot and you aren't an idiot you learn that. martial arts is a discipline first and a form of defense second... offense takes a solid third. a trained mind > some dumb fuck anyday. who the fuck does light sparring anyways? in yellow belt we started full contact with punches to the head and all. that imo is good fighting experience. sadly they won't let us fight openhand but i can understand why... people die.
@3228000
@3228000 8 лет назад
The only issue is it has never been tested in battle, if so where 1,500 years ago... I dont think so. It takes so many years to learn it in order to make it effective. And is with most Korean systems it plagued with old time politics. There are so many other Korean systems out there that are so much more effective than this. I am glad I left the system its so easy to counter attack....
@wolf_ghosty9619
@wolf_ghosty9619 7 лет назад
soo considiring you have that mind set of it never have been tested in battle riiight since its not a ancient martial art so if you think like that you will also say mma is rubbish or even hapkido its not because its a newer art its rubbish kuk sool has many aspects like what mark said but also in a fight its not your style art that will win your fight for you its you the fighter who has to make the most out of his skill set
@christopherkwong2485
@christopherkwong2485 7 лет назад
3228000 you can't say it isn't effective because if you did then all other martial arts would be ineffective. For a martial arts to be effective it depends on the person and wether they know how to use it effectively. You probably quit before advance level which means you were still just learning the fundamentals and even if you did get to advance level you were most likely doing it wrong

djeq721 What would be the point in him asking me to resist after it's applied? No, he asks me to resist straight away. Of course you could get away from it if you knew it was coming in the first place. Why would you tell your opponent it's coming though? Some definitely work better than others, and some really can hurt.

In a real street fight no opponent is going to have a weak wrisk you can manipulate so easy Matter of fact martial arts are defense techniques you can use if the situation permit. Good street fighters are not niece to allow themselves to be beat so easy by karate techniques.

@slicerlml Look man I saw that you are a MT artist do you think that the art of Muay Boan is trash because some of the movies don't work in a fight. Without MB you don't have MT the sport. I don't know if it will work but I bet someone in the past could run toward the enemy on the battlefield at full speed and jump of is enemy knee and elbow or stab him in the head or the technique would not have survive because that guy would be dead.

moreover dragon,shenlong(神龍)is originated chinese,why korea are stolen any other culture??? why the uniform is white or lightness,even cooking chef wear white,since cleanliness is needed for bodily exercise and martial art as manner.even the older and exhausted uniform,keeping clean and washing is for mind that is important.

its not martial art anymore,cult using martial art to get money.firstly,the rule of uniform is very funny.the crimp is colored by degree,silver,red,gold.Surprisingly,grandmaster can swear that All Gold Dobok(wang-sa) with twin dragon emblems...what that???martial art is not the method to be bossy for other people and students.white and black belt are accepted in karate,judo,aikido but its for getting behind the danger the expert do not play in abandon with beginner.
