Thanks, Taeho, for another outstanding video. It is always such a delight to see your excellent work. I posted a link to this series in the facebook group "Kumiko Woodworking", I hope that is OK.

Thank you for the compliments, and also, thank you for posting in your group. 🙏🙏😃 Did you get a chance to start building this lamp?

@@WoodArtStudio1 No, Taeho, I have not begun building it yet. I'll order the plans in the next day or two. I may scale it down to 1/2 or 3/4 size. I'll decide after I get the plans and look at the full scale dimensions. I've got some mahogany, maple, cherry and oak that I've had for a couple of years. This might be a good project to use some of it for. I'm finishing up a tool build for a horizontal router using a 24v 20000 rpm 775 motor fitted with an ER11 collect set. It uses 1/8" shank CNC bits so I will be using it on smaller projects to make cuts which usually require ha-ganna planes. I'm not ready to "bite the bullet" for a set of those. HaHaHa I'll post some pics on my personal FB page in a few days when router table is completed. Take care, my friend.

@@michaelbarnes2536 You're a very diligent and busy man. 👍👍 Didn't you already have purchased a plan?

@@WoodArtStudio1 Yes, I got the plans for the Wall Art project. Taeho's Kumiko Club Plan a few weeks ago. That's for much later when my skill level improves and I can set aside the time for a project that large. Lately, I've been tending to my little vegetable garden and working on some tool builds for my shop. The lamp intrigues me due the to joinery involved in making it. Even that may be delayed for a while. I'm hoping to begin a project soon for a wall display of scaled down versions of every Kumiko patterns in Des King's four books. I'll be making them in the order in which they are presented in the books. My goal is to try to finish them all by the end of the year. We shall see how that works out. hahaha.

LOL Looks like you were correct about me already purchasing the lamp plans. I just ordered them and when I started to download the plan I found the one I had already ordered. I'm a dumba$$. ROFL!

I know i am repeatin myself bit ist just mindblowing. The Roof is soooo difficult and everything fits perfect. Did everything fits at the first time or did you had some fails? Greets Lukas Wölflinger from Kumiko-Woodworking Group

Thanks, Lukas. 🙏😃 I don't know if you've noticed, but in this video, you can see me creeping up very little at a time with a fence on my table saw than usual. I mentioned the roof part is the hardest. It's because of its complex structure. Not the method of building. It is pretty hard to imagine the structure without the drawing. That's why I listed the steps with detailed stock orientation in the video. It will be very helpful to make a couple of extra pieces to use as the practice cut piece. I forgot to make some extra in this video and that's why I had to creep up slowly even more than I needed to. I had no problem with fitting at the first time with roof parts since I do this all the time in the classes I'm having. You should be able to succeed on your first try, as long as you follow the orientation of the stock as shown in the video. By looking at your work in the Kumiko Woodworking Group, you should be able to make this lamp with just a little bit of practice cuts. You should definitely give it a shot. I think this lamp is probably the most complex to build, and truth to the traditional methods than any other lamp making on RU-vid.

Great job as always! I think for the first one we need to make 2 extra of each part as test pieces. :) I love the way you put the roof together. You make it look simple. We just need to go slow and easy. But, what is the hole in the roof for?
@WoodArtStudio1
@WoodArtStudio1 3 года назад
Thanks, Jim. It's a good idea to make a few extra for the trier cut. The hole is for the switch.
