Kung Fu Hustle (Chinese: 功夫, Kung Fu) is a 2004 martial arts action-comedy gangster film directed, produced, co-written, and starring by Stephen Chow. The film tells the story of a murderous neighborhood gang, a poor village with unlikely heroes, and an aspiring gangster's fierce journey to find his true self. Eva Huang, Yuen Wah, Yuen Qiu, Danny Chan Kwok-kwan and Leung Siu-lung co-starred in prominent roles. The martial arts choreography is supervised by Yuen Woo-ping.
Kung Fu Hustle was a co-production between Hong Kong and Mainland Chinese companies, filmed in Shanghai. After the commercial success of Shaolin Soccer, its production company, Star Overseas, began to develop the films with Columbia Pictures Asia in 2002. It features a number of retired actors famous for 1970s Hong Kong action cinema and has been compared to contemporary and influential wuxia films such as Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon and Hero. The cartoon special effects in the film accompanied by traditional Chinese music, is often cited as its most striking feature.
The film was released on 23 December 2004 in China and on 25 January 2005 in the United States. The film received positive reviews and grossed US$17 million in North America and US$84 million in other regions. It was tenth on the list of highest-grossing foreign-language films in the United States as well as the highest-grossing foreign-language film in the country in 2005. Kung Fu Hustle won numerous awards, including six Hong Kong Film Awards and five Golden Horse Awards. The film was re-released in 3D in October 2014 across Asia and America, marking the tenth anniversary of the film.

五郎八卦棍!one specific type of chinese martial art that was invented more than1000 years ago by a person(who was the 5th son of the famous patriotic Yang family)during the Song Dynasty. It was originally using long spears, but since he became a monk in Shaolin, and monks were not allowed to use lethal weapons, so he modified and change spear into rod........ Lion Roar is a mythical and legendary chinese martial art that only exist in Martial Art novels(as far as I know). 铁线拳, the one with so many wrist rings, was also originated from Shaolin, and they hit HARD. In fact the actor in the movie was a real very famous Martial art master in Hong Kong (赵志凌) . The first one in the clip who died practiced 十八路谭腿, another form of Chinese martial art that mainly use the 4 limbs to fight, with emphasis on using legs. However, this form of martial has many varieties, all claim to be the original.

In some interviews Stephen Chow mentioned that he don't talk that much but spend a lot of his time thinking. You can imagine his brain thinking up all these amazing sequences and bring his imagination to life in this movie. True genius. The camera angle, the sound, the fighting style he wish to depict was carefully thought out. Most of today's movie will be not be a flop if they only spend half the time of what Stephen dedicated to his movie, ensuring everything is perfect.

Truly a remarkable movie. Especially when you find out the hundreds of references in this movie. And this scene is iconic. It's one of the best scenes ever in history of films to me. The music in the fight scene plays as the background action themed tune and is just great composition, the ridiculous humor (with the slapping and shouting, wiggle kung fu, the Axe Gang pissin and shttin their pants), the setting and tale of hidden mythical kung fu masters, the story leading up to this and everything else is 10/10. This movie breaks any language barrier. You don't just watch this movie just once if you know the title is what I'm saying. Stephen Chow, a Legend.

Beside instrument as their weapon, the harpist in the first fight with tailor guy was using kung fu called "Tiger Claw" style which focus their strength at fingers and nail. They can perform strong claw or scratch like a tiger, and their nail may be make by steel or iron which equip as a part of their finger, but they can't use the punch because nail will stab their palm. But this just a fiction design of that kungfu. In real life, Tiger Claw kung fu doesn't need nail to fight, just use finger to claw or scratch and you can use punch, palm also. And their instrument kung fu was called "The Demon Six-string Harp", they control the sound frequency of instrument to make that sound sharp as blade while playing music, so as you can see everytime they want to attack, they will swing their hand to release a flying blade, and final form of that kung fu, will release an army of death which strong chaotic vibrato from six-string swinging as the same time. This kung fu come from fictions which made by Ni Kuang, his fictions is famous, almost Asia people will know this kung fu even just watch this movie in the first time.

@@GemstoneTribe yes, i'm talking about that kung fu, but i said it's fiction kung fu, right? I'm not sure where the original come from, but talking about guzheng or harp as weapon, i only know this kung fu. I remembeer i see many kind of this kung fu from many movie from Chinese, some movies describe it as sonic wave attack, some movies describe it as flying blade/reaper release attack. I'm not fan of Chinese movie, just my knowledge i got from family or people around told to me. i don't know the name of movie or name of author who wrote novel about this kung fu. If you know something, please teach me about it.

The weight of the harp creates leverage for the harpists, who can rest their ankles on their bent knees without falling over. In emergencies, it is easier for them to move around than to sit on the ground.
