What a looker, and a bargain to boot! Little to small for my wrist. Like so many others, I love the watch content and appreciate your interest in all “levels” of wristwatches.

Very nice watches - I’m a big fan of Japanese watches and have owned a number of Seikos, and also an Orient. Ticks the size and dress watch boxes well - and an automatic movement is always a big plus. At some point I’ll be passing my grandfather’s gold watch on to a younger family member, so I’ll be looking for a new dress watch. Orient Bambino is top of my shortlist, but this will now be added to that list.

The Kuoe range looks good value. I recently bought a Junghans Max Bill in 38mm which I wear with a perlon strap. I bought it specifically to wear with long sleeved shirts as I've been wearing shirts with more of a tailored fit and my sports watches were a struggle under the cuff. Their Meister collection is also worth trying as they are classically styled.

Great looking watch and a great size. I just bought a vintage Gruen 34mm and I really like Orient Bambino in 38mm. I think this one might be better though. Saw they have one with sub seconds for $200 less. Cheers Ron

Great looking field watch Ash! I’m enjoying some time in British Honduras wearing my bronze Captain Willard style watch. Hoping some tropical patina will add character to this one. The British Army has a base here for jungle/tropical training. Anyway, enjoying your watch content. Cheers, Joe

They should have a black lacquer dial variant. Combined with the gold handset and gold hour markers it would look amazing. Is anyone from Kuoe listening?

If the movement is a miyota 9039 then it is comparable to an ETA 2824. If 8xxx its a workhorse. Still a lot of value.

Ash, which version of the Miyota movement does it have. Too expensive for an 8,000 series, hopefully a 9,000 series. Thanks for another great vid.

Unfortunately the quality isn’t there. I purchased one and within a few wears the glass cracked. No disputing I knocked it against a table, but it wasn’t with any force. I’m sure the more expensive sapphire would be better, but I wouldn’t pay that much for one of these. Shame as the design is nice. Hope one day the quality improves.

10:20 Thanks for the review, but I think you meant 50m (165 ft) and not feet. But realistically with a watch like this I think 50ft is probably the more accurate WR rating than 50m.

Nice watch although I think the sub-second indexes on the dial are unnecessarily busy and detract from the overall elegant simplicity. By the way, my Japanese wife says the name is pronounced koo-oh-ay but with no emphasis on any one syllable. When she says it, it comes out as "Kway".

The brand name Kuoe is based on the founders name and the initial of his birthday. The 'e' is silent (according to the founder himself).

I’m a woman. I walk/hike a lot. I’m not a diver or a race car driver….. I want a watch that tells time, automatic and not massive! This might do it.

The only problem with the Japanese is that they are considerably smaller as a race compared to Europeans. So companies like Seiko and Casio that are used to building watches for a western market can size them properly, but domestic small watch makers based in Japan will only male watches that look like they were made for a small child here the west.
