Hello there! I just came across your page and this video bc I just purchased an Art Nouveau Gansai Tambi set. I just wanted to tell you that I appreciate you going through the color palette and the quick history on Art Nouveau. New subbie! 🩵
Tracing is a great way to grow. It helps in understanding perspective and proportions. Of course you don't take credit for the drawings (unless you're tracing your own photos or something), but the practice you get from it is a wealth. Lovely composition on the 2nd drawing. You definitely achieved art nouveau. Wonderful work.
Want to love these paints. I have the large set. I find them difficult to paint with because they dry out so easily, even when I spray them constantly with a water bottle. Love your art work.
Yes, that can be an issue; they can "grab" the brush quite easily which isn't ideal! It didn't seem to happen so much with this set though for some reason.
I'm not in love with the handling of GT paints - the glossy sheen, weird blending and muddiness in mixes - but I LOVE the art nouveau color selection. The golds from the bigger set are the only thing it's missing.
Ah yes, they can get quite glossy! I didn't notice it as much with this set though, and overall I try not to mix them together to much because it is impossible to know how many pigments are in each colour. I was tempted to pull the golds out as well for these paintings. 🙂
I love the Art Nouveau ..... but don't own any ..........Yet! yes you did , your so cleaver xxx I love your painting it is Brillo ...Happy crafting xxxxx
It’s a lovely palette and great to see swatches. I think I can mix a lot of these (some are harder to figure out), and it’s a handy reference for using a different choice of colours in a painting.
Many of these are colours plus white added so I'm sure they could be mixed! I've got a video from a month or so back swatching the entire range of Kuretake paints, if you wanted further reference, and also if you look on Kuretake's Gansai Tambi website, there is a list of all the pigments they use. 😊
I just received my Art Nouveau set, I absolutely loove the colours! I want to do a Art Nouveau style painting with those beautiful colours, I like your idea of tracing to start then get inspired, thank you🥰
On target! You gave us a delightful view of your fantastic paintings. TY. I have been painting fan art inspired by the Old Masters too; I agree - such fun :)
Mucha has long been a favourite of mine. I loved your version of his piece and your original piece was beautiful. Gorgeous paint colours, think I'm going to be saving up for a set.
So beautiful. I've been wanting to try and paint something similar. You have inspired me. Once the grandkids leave I'm going to rewatch your video and try it out. Thanks. Love your videos.
Thank you! There are lots of fantastic artworks that appeared when I did my search online, so hopefully you'll find some inspiration and have fun exploring Art Nouveau. I learned a lot from making the video, haha!
Had to watch this again she look really pretty well done you are really talented . Your 2nd pic is lovely. I am getting this pallet after after xmas and the graphite Happy swatching
When I saw what you chose to draw and paint I gasped but damn you did a great work. Lovely 😍 The art nouveau attempt was good too, I think it's a win :)
Beautiful paint out, and swatching session. I do love the colours in this set but very much doubt I would use them in an art nouveau style anything, just not my capability! I think I might ask for this for my birthday as it’s a modest ask! Unlike some of my other art desires! Well it will be if I can find it…. I enjoyed your second paint out too, that vermilion is very pretty. The green boxes are just so desirable…..
I love those green boxes! This set would be great for all sorts of painting styles, and it has that lovely vintage pastel vibe which is all the rage again right now. It's funny how these things are cyclical. ❤
Nice paintings Becky! I loved this set, beautiful colors. I bought it for myself around Christmas along with my first fountain pen. Now that’s a rabbit hole I’ll have a hard time getting out of :) I know you have a nice collection of inks do you do art with them? I bought a pen with fude nib for sketching having a blast playing. Thanks for the lovely video. These paints mix nicely for some cool fall colors.
Fountain pens are a very deep rabbit hole....more like a vortex really! 😂 I sometimes paint with the inks as they're so wonderfully transparent. Fude nibs are fun!
Beautiful colors! And your use of them for your personal painting was exquisite. I also enjoyed how you painted the one that you used as a coloring page. Thank you for clarifying how those can be used and reminding us not to take any credit for someone else's work. I hope you continue to enjoy painting with your expanding set of these colors so I have seen a few videos on this particular brand and was one day love to come but that will be further down the hopes and dreams budget. Thanks for sharing your talent with us blessings.
Thank you, I had a lot of fun making this video, and trying out a style which was mostly unfamiliar to me. I've enjoyed all of the Kuretake sets, and they're definitely keepers! They have a 100 set in drawers which includes all of the metallic and pearlescent colours too. Might be worth buying that as a full set if it works out cheaper than all of the smaller ones. Or if you can find them as singles, create a smaller custom set. I really shopped around for my boxes to try and get them as cheap as possible. 😁
@@BeckyTregear I did finally get to paint something though I messed up the background but I did manage to fix that but I really enjoyed using the paints and so many colours to chose from it is so hard to pick
I finally had a bit of spare money to order this set, it comes in two weeks-ish! I really wanted the colors and feel like it's a perfect way to round out the Kuretake paints I have. I have the original 24 set, then I got the 12 set with the skin tones, then I got the Starry Skies glitter set, now I'll have the set of 24 Art Nouveau colors! (I almost wrote Art Nouveaux as well, haha, silly typos). I'm so glad Kuretake's getting more attention these days. They're really an under appreciated brand for getting into watercolor painting :) I also loved your paintings as well, though I tend to enjoy the splotchiness and unpredictability of the paints. Going to be so satisfying to have most of the Kuretake colors after the set arrives.
Stunning colours and artworks!! I have to say I'm not a fan of Art Nouveau so don't really take an interest, but I loved the colours of this set especially the grey's (bluish and beige I think they were) and out of the two I preferred your original one, something so sweet and innocent about it, great video, thank you! :D
I was teaching myself about Art Nouveau as I made the video, haha! Thank you, I am happy with my little artwork, though I'd want to try a second painting on that hot press paper to get more detail.
Wow your self-portrait picture is so beautiful (very nouveau I think), both pictures are amazing. I'm hopeless at portraits so if you ever decide to draw a colouring book, I'll be first in line to buy. I like everything you draw and paint. Great review as always. Thanks Becky. 😊
Thank you so much - she originally wasn't meant to be a self-portrait, but sometimes that happens unconsciously, and then I end up with figures that look suspiciously like me, haha! I would very much love to make a colouring book - have no idea where to start on that one! 😱
@@BeckyTregear I know some people self-publish on Amazon and I think they print it for them but I really don't know anything on how to do it either, sorry.
They're all lovely! 😂 There is actually a 100 box set with drawers which is doing the rounds on Amazon. If I had no other sets I'd probably spend all of my money on that and have done with it, lol!
This new set of art nouveau Kuratake paints look beautiful I have just ordered the 48 set which I have not received yet. Would be grateful if you Can if you could tell me where in UK this new set is available. Happy painting
I love the 48 set too! That plus the Art Nouveau set makes a huge collection of colours, haha! I'm sorry I don't know where this might be in the UK as my search results default to Australian sites. My guess is that store Choosing Keeping would probably have them as I know they stock other sets. Or at least they have Gansai Tambi paints (not sure if Kuretake brand).
The original I think is called Daydream, by Alphonse Mucha. And if you mean have I turned my version into prints....alas not yet! I am hoping to get some art prints organised soon.
