I live and knit in Southern Ontario with my husband and my terrier. The name kuriaknits comes from my last name - Kurian. Kurian has Indian and Syrian origins and I feel lucky every day that my husband shared it with me.

Good luck with Latin..is not that bad :). I am Romanian, we had Latin in grade 8th I thought it was fascinating how words used 2000 years ago we use today almost unchanged in our everyday life. The teacher used to tell us that Romanian is the closest to the spoken Latin, probably to make us proud and try harder, but most likely untrue :). I think you have an amazing job.

you could use the green lace weight kiwi yarn for a Fancy Camp Bandana! Its knitted on 3.5 mm so not that tiny needles

I always worry that my favourite podcasters will feel pressure to produce finishes...I think most of are here for the company and sense of community 😊. Fingering-weight sweaters do seem to go on forever...but they are a dream to wear 😀.

Another great podcast thank you. Re 4-ply/fingering weight garments, personally I get a bit glum about all the Aran and bulky weight garments that dominate the knit tube as for the climate I live in, 4-ply or sport are generally better options. DK is my winter weight. Of course I know that you lovely people who take the time to make podcasts feel pressure to have FOs to show and therefore fine-gauge projects might seem to rob you of content, but I never feel unhappy hearing how WIPs are going and definitely don’t feel like people have to have FOs every episode. I pine for more discussion of fingering weight projects! I confess to loving purling - it just happened one day after a few years.

I was lucky enough to do 1 year of Latin in high school before it was phased out and I remember it as being so fascinating. I greatly admire your dedication and I hope you have fun with it amongst all the hard work. I did a PhD in the 90s and it really takes over. Tgf knitting

Wow, Erin! I’m impressed with all the learning, working, knitting and gardening you fit into your life. I’m not sure when Ontario schools stopped having compulsory Latin and French classes but I enjoyed Latin. Good luck with your noxious invasive plants. They are the bane of my existence!

We still have French I think! But yes I don't know why it was phased out.

You said your current path wasn't your original plan - I'm curious what was? I love hearing about your journey through academia. Being almost overwhelmingly busy really brings out the best in us - we don't know what we can do until we face the challenge, so while it seems like a lot now, it's one of the most amazing opportunities for growth and personal exploration. Look after yourself, and while we'll understand if you aren't around this summer, I hope you have the chance to pop in a couple times and catch us up!

I'd be really curious to see how you dye a full sweater! I also got natural/bare yarn for a sweater (Dornie) but I also think it's too yellow... I think dying it 3 skeins at a time (est need 9) would have a high risk of dye lot issues. Do you just dunk a whole sweater in a big pot??

This is so weird to hear you talk about languages. I grew up with 1 language, then switched complettelly (though gradually) to another language when I was 9, to finally decide for myself that I'd become fluent in English at about 15. My brain is like: what is she talking about? Of course grammar etc blablablaa =D I can also say that for me, whatever language class I took during school was completelly useless
