I decided to rewatch this because I was bored, baking a cake at midnight. Then I noticed something. You put your baby powder on top of a cotton pad and lost a bit each time because it doesn't "stick" to the cotton. Have you thought about filling an old sock with talcum powder so that when you pat it over your paint, it goes through the fabric to your face? It's a trick that I used when I was a rodeo clown and had to mess with face paint every few hours.
I can't imagine how long that takes to get off (or put on)... Homestuck troll cosplay takes a lot of dedication... Kind of glad I only want to cosplay the kids ^.^ It really just makes the whole cosplay so much more impressive though.
Well I really think the horns and some troll character clothes are very difficult to (buy if they are available at any online shops) make...only my opinion...but also pretty obvious I guess :T

See I have used Mehron paints since I was like 6 and I love them! I didnt know about Snazaroo and all that stuff when I grew up so used(and still do) use mehron paints when body painting... Ive found that I do sweat off water based paints at cons and ive always been able to trust the Grease paints to stay in place, stay nice, and not transfer(beside the lip area cause I do excessive amounts of licking my lips which will make any makeup come off)
I have a small suggestion for sealing, instead of baby powder, Maron makes a sealing spray. My friend and I used it when we went to MTAC as kanaya and mituna. We were at the convention on the first day for about 8 hours and it never flaked or fell off or rubbed off the one problem was it washed off with soap and water though, other than that it works great, a small bottle was about 7 bucks at my local theatrical makeup and costume store and it was more than enough for two full body body paints and then my friends steampunk Jane tattoos and I still have some left

I'm currently planning on MAYBE going to a convention this year, and I want to cosplay as a troll, but don't know what kind of paint to buy that's.. really cheap. Would grey paint that you can buy at a store for like Halloween work as well? :/ I really need some help with this it's my first real convention ever. Also nice Kurloz cosplay. :3
Now..I'm not this professional Cosplayer, nor am i her but let me just tell you a couple things about the DollarStore Halloween makeup. So first of all, I've had experience with it as I am a Cosplayer, my first time trying the troll paint was with Eridan, and I tried to use this black and white mixture of DollarStore Halloween paint. It'll work, trust me. But its water based there for it comes of easily with sweat and rain, stuff like that. Another thing, is that it goes on really blotchy sometimes, it takes a lot of layers and coats of it. So the best way you should do it is get a good setting powder and make sure its semi the same color grey or translucent and apply it after the paint. All in all, I do not recommend using Halloween paint, but I can indeed say it will work for a first time Cosplay or a first time trying it out. Just keep in mind it may not look as Matte or as smooth. I hope I helped some.
Tia Silva This does definitely help some. I understand what you mean by it not working as well as more..."professional" paint would, but I'm poor and the most I can afford right now is Halloween paint. I'll try it anyway since it's just my first time going to a convention and all. Thank you! :D
Tia Silva I'm actually planning on cosplaying as my own troll. My mom thought it would've been a neater idea if I went as my own. I was going to go as Karkat, but things happen.
Allora ohmygosshhh that's awesome!! To he honest, my mother was very sceptical of my cosplaying anything from homestuck at first, but she eventually opened up xD.
