I introduce Kuromame, sweet black beans, which is a part of New Year's dish, Osechi, in Japan.
The food is with wishes to encourage hard work and academic achievement.
The Kuromame is Japanese black soy beans and hard to get in the US. but this time,
I got it from my friend.
I often make the delicious Kuromame with black beans from Middle Eastern or Italian grocery store in the US with the recipe.
※Select the porridge menu to cook them, not white rice or sushi rice menu, to avoid overflow the syrup from the rice cooker.

Ingredients:
2 cups Black soy beans
1cup Brown sugar ( 200g packed in a cup)
2 tsps Baking soda
2 tbsps Soy sauce
4 cups Water

今回は、お正月らしくおせちの黒豆を作りました。
簡単で失敗しないレシピなので是非お試し下さい。
カップで三温糖を量る場合は、三温糖を手で強めに押し込んで下さい。
ファサファサっと軽く入れる感じでは、空気が多めに入り、200ｇになりません。
今回は幸運なことに、友人から頂いた黒豆を使いましたが、入手できない時は、中近東やイタリア系の食材店でBlack beansとして売っているものを使っています。豆により、日本の黒豆よりサイズは小ぶりになり煮えやすいので,少々経験が必要な感じがしますが、このレシピで大丈夫です。普通の炊飯メニューだと吹きこぼれるので、おかゆメニューで煮て下さい。
動画で使ったようなBlack soy beansは、日本や韓国、中国の食材店やアマゾンで売ってます。
