Welcome to 2021!!! Let’s celebrate by reintroducing an officer that was introduced in 2018 but NEVER granted within the game! Meet Kuron. Often speculated about but never tested or confirmed. Til now. Join UltimatDJz as we dissect battle logs and test hypotheses on how he works. And what ships he’ll be good on. Is he worth the huge scores in the current leaderboards? Now you can see his ability and determine for yourself! SHOULD YOU SPEND FOR HIM? Or is he a dud? Is his tooltip correct? Or is this 2 year old officer stuck with a tooltip that was never revised? Let’s dive in!

I'm 5 shards away from tiering up Kuron for the second time, and I wish Scopely, would have released him earlier, and made him more readily available, outside of the extreme rare occurences at the event store. Kuron is excellent for killing hostiles, as hostiles don't have shields, so all the extra fire goes straight through, then he's rapidly off to the next hostile with bonus impulse speed, making your daily grind much quicker. With a carefully selected crew, he can also surprise players as well in combat. However, like most other officers in the game, you really reap the rewards when the officer is fully tiered up, or at least at levels that add benefit towards your game.

Small detail about the saladin... kuron doesn’t push the firing pattern back by one round. He pushed it forward by TWO rounds. I know it’s a technicality but the point is that normally by round 5 you’ve only had 2 kinetic shots, but with kuron you’ve had 3.

you are correct! fortunately, he's been announced that they will fix him for an immediate round 2 recharge and will be released with the february patch!

I wish I had seen this vid before i started bidding! One comment though, I don't think he is "dangerous" on a D4. In fact, having all kinetic shots fire in the same round is very useful in PVP against shield regen configs because while you would normally spend the first of 2 shots just to break the shield again (so 50 percent of guns deal actual damage), with Kuron the first shot breaks the shield and the 3 other shots go through (75% efficiency). This assumes ofc that 1 shot breaks the shields in any case.

Kuron tooltip is unchanged for 2 years - back then, scopely was even worse at writing them

it DOES have a drawback or two, but i think overall, his actual practical ability is stronger than what the tooltip originally read.

Thank you! Someone has suggested this test. But getting both of them to proc would be difficult. Mudd 1 and Kuron. If mudd 1 procs. Double shots in round 1. Then to see if Kuron does in fact DUPLICATE the kinetic profile in round 2. Kuron DOES duplicate research (Stella) so it’s not impossible to believe that he would duplicate officer effects as well. Which COULD be mudd.

I would think over longer battles it would be as beneficial. You get the two big hits upfront, and then you go back to your regular pattern just offset by one round. Over a longer battle that should average out. But good to know it's completely worthless on an auger. it would be really interesting to see what happens with him and Harrison on the same Sally…

with harrison on the same ship, like you say, it will significantly shorten the length of battle. and you'r enot wrong, the impact of it in longer battles is probably not as bad as i originally thought. but for example on the d4, i don't like going a whole round with zero shots. its' a chance for your opponent to "catch up" on the damage you front loaded. and then every other round not throwing any shots? that's scary lol

For your Augur test, did Kuron proc in Round 2? If he did not proc in Round 2 then the Obliterator would not fire in Round 3 even if Kuron's captain maneuver would have led to this.

He did not proc in round two. He DID proc in round one and to my knowledge that’s it. He’s a beginning of battle proc. However. That is an interesting theory and Wel have to do more testing to see if he ever procs later. But in all of our battle logs he never procs later. It was only at the beginning of battle

Wel at least now ya know before you pushed too much harder in the last 18 hours. Buuuut there are other interesting ships. Sarco? Stella? Even the gladius has some improved value now.

@@UltimatDJzPlayz I think in pretty much any other circumstance if you bid in an auction for an item that is misdescribed then you would be entitled to a refund. How hard is it for Scopely to write an accurate description. Yet again they are lazy and/or incompetent, no doubt a lot of tickets will be raised requesting rss back, increasing CS load, plus all the negative sentiment from players who feel (quite rightly) cheated. Personally I was going to bid, but the cost got too high. That was lucky as I have an Augur and he would have been useless. Contrary to the description. If Keenser from Scopely is reading this... please sort this kind of basic thing out. There is literally no excuse for tool tips being wrong. You are a VP you have the control to sort this out.

Scopely, messed it up in the recruit tab it says shot in the event it says hit, different meanings.

I think there is a bug with Kuron, when I used it with synergy at 80% it activated as expected on the sally, however when I dropped it to 50% when it did activate all it did was speed up the recharge on the sally from 2 rounds to 1, so round 2 showed charging 100% instead of charging 50% and got two shots on round 3 instead of on round 2

shoot me all the battle logs on discord. that goes against th testing we did with the sally... but e used synergy at 20% so he had a 70% chance to go and it worked as described.

@@UltimatDJzPlayz Just tested with one officer synergy to get to 60% and that one did work - so only seems broken at 50%. Yep no problem

Make work nicely on bortas 2 kinetic round 1, 2 kinetic round 2?

absolutely. the bortas has 2 kinetic shots in round 1, so kuron would take those shots and duplicate them in roudn 2. giving you 1 energy and 2 kinetics AGAIN in round 2. then then round 3 would charge and your kinetics would fire in the even rounds moving forward.

He appears to duplicate the kinetic firing pattern from round 1 into round 2, while pushing all kinetic reload patterns backwards by one round. So no he does not reload again after the first time.

Yes he will duplicate the big gun from Sally’s round 1 firing pattern into round 2. Two big shots over two rounds.

Does he just proc for one ship in an armada or does he proc for all players?

untested at this point, HOWEVER, i would IMAGINE that he's an officer that affects just your ship, or you as a player. officers that affectthe TARGET typically are shared in an armada, ie burning, crit hit damage/chance reduction etc. but since this one affects YOUR ship, i'm gonna imagine it's a solo ability.

Absolutely not worth it as in spending rss to get him rather wait as a lvl 34 but lvl 26-32 on a Sally i can see it or as you said on the lvl 46 nice to see a pre view of an officer and tests to see what you are getting rather than going blind like recently released officers should do this every time an officer is released great vid but he's not for me more the Stella squad or low lvls also what could he do for armada????

because of how long armadas go in terms of rounds, i'mnot sure this would be a great officer for armadas, but certainly some pve in stella against exchange traders, and also of course, in pvp

Well, no sorry, he is broken. He is advertised to reload the first Kinetic weapon, which means it should work on a Augur. This is very misleading and needs to be fixed.
