Kurt Angle is a 14-time professional wrestling world champion, with titles collected in WWE, TNA, and Japan. Shawn Michaels vs Kurt Angle was one of those matches that i always wanted to see happen but i wasn't sure if it was ever going to but when it was announced that they were going to face each other at Wrestlemania 21, i was absolutely excited to see it happen and i knew they were going to deliver in a big way but i never realised that they would go above & beyond. The greatest wrestler of the 90s vs the greatest wrestler of the 00s, it was unbelievable and i remember me and my friend (RIP) being completely blown by how good it was. I'll never forget how much we were on the edge of our seats when Angle had HBK in the anklelock in the centre of the ring for what seemed like an eternity before eventually tapping out, without a doubt the best match of the entire show from two of the best wrestlers to ever step into the ring.

It’s the best match I’ve ever seen. The mat work to start was godly,. I’ve never seen work that good before, and I’ve never seen it since. GODLY. And then the rest. The ring psychology. The story they told. The purity of it all. The finish. The greatest match of all time, imo.

HBK vs Bret, vs Owen, vs Jericho all excellent as well. Always loved HBK's chain wrestling, especially his sequence where'd he'd bridge out of a pin lifting his opponent and spinning into a backslide pin.

By far my favorite match of all time. I’ve watched it at least 50 times, I’m not even kidding, I had the mania 21 dvd back in the day and I would just rewatch this match over and over again. Kurt Angle was an absolute machine, he just would not be beat on that night

Angle was so good that he was arguably the best in ring performer above: Michaels, mysterio, Benoit, guerrero, rvd, edge etc between 02-06. Crazy thing was he kept getting better.

Wrestlemania 21 was the first wrestlemania I got to watch relatively close to the event, having got into wrestling right after Wrestlemania 20, and this match blew my mind at the time. It was so novel because it was an inter-brand "dream match" which was pretty rare at that time because the brand split was still pretty seriously enforced, so seeing Shawn Michaels on Smackdown was such a big deal to us (we only had an antenna so we could only watch Smackdown back then) They just paced this match out perfectly, it felt like the most important thing in the world at the time, and they did so much unique stuff, like I loved the Short Arm Scissors as a move after that match,and that angle slam into the post, and that counter sequence from Angle Slam > Superkick > Ankle Lock felt like something out of a video game, such a great sequence.

Not to take anything away from Kurt he was absolutely phenomenal, but HBK could make a match look good with almost anyone. It's really a testament to how good Michaels was. All his WM matches were pretty top notch. The Iron Man match, both matches with Undertaker, the triple threat with Benoit and HHH, the match with Jericho, and his match with Flair. I always think of how amazing it would've been to see HBK go against Eddie Guerrero. Would've been magic.

There are 4 guys who have legitimate claims to be called Mr Wrestlemania. 1. Taker. The streak which until Mania 23 became big. 2. HBK. The greatest in ring performer at Mania history. No one was more consistently great as he was. 3. Hogan. One of the principal reasons why Mania took off and the face from Manias 1 to 9. 4. Macho man. The best in ring performer for the first 8 Manias.

Is Shawn Michaels in top ten greatest wrestlers of all time? probably not, Kurt angle knows how to make money. Praising Shawn Michaels is one way of winning over the ruling class. There are so many wrestlErs better than Shawn
