In addition, My perfect Kurzweil keyboard would be the PC3X with the 9 drawbars for the organ, coupled with the buttion patch selection of the PC2X...and then be able to have a library of any sounds that Kurzweil put in any of their keyboards...and be able to load them into custom memory locations.

Lo mejor en pianos Kurzweil

It's really a shame that only the pianos were featured in this video....and that the videos were not all of the same quality. I've owned an 88MX, and PC2X. Both had their strong and weak points. Once the PC3X came out, I was disenchanted with where Kurzweil was going. First of all, I preferred the button selection as opposed to the menu selection...like every other keyboard had. I found it much easier to switch between different sounds using the selection buttons. As the keyboards evolved, i found that many sounds that I liked were being eliminated. An example is the "power Clav" that was on the MX88....that sound should have been kept and moved forward with subsequent models. likewise, the selection of "voice" patches were far better in my PC2x ( PC1x had the same sounds) than the models that followed.....same for a lot of the string and orchestra patches. Kurzweil pianos started to sound dated...but when in a mix, they could hold their own. The Rhodes pianos were never all that good in any of the Kurz pianos that I played ( I guess it's because before buying a Kurzweil, my keyboard of choice was the Rhodes). The Whirly and claves weren't too bad. The brass and woodwinds lent themselves more to symphony and orchestral sounds...the solo flutes, trumpets and such just didn't cut it for..say...jazz. They made a decent try at organ emulations, but in my opinion, never really came up with anything that even came close to the sound of a B3...or a Leslie simulation. Other keyboards...especially the Nord have them beat hands down. To be fair, some of the pianos in the newer Kurzweil keyboards have changed for the better...but still some of them have that dated sound. I sold my PC2X, but kept my PC161 ( 61 note version of the PC1X). I midi it up to my Yamaha MX88. The Yamaha has better piano sounds, but the strings and orchestras in the Kurzweil beat the living daylights out of those in the Yamaha. I think I have the best of both worlds with this set up. I did buy a Yamaha MX49 - a 49 note version of the MX88 with all the same sounds. because the solo sounds in the MX series are far better than those in the Kurz....I use that keyboard for my solo ( sweet flute _ jazzy sound, soprano sax, etc.) Thank for reading.

Does anyone out there know when , where and how Kurzweil became synonymous with musical theatre? Kurzweil appeared to be intrinsically linked to the West End theatre land .

By 2050 Kurzweil may even add a monochrome touch screen like the Korg Trinity had in 1995!

Okay, here is my view... this video is helpful for this reason,to help someone make the best choice of ownership weather new or used....which one has the best connection to you ,pc2x don't sound dated LIVE, nevermind the studio,pc3k requires you to address the 32 layers as if you were working with 32 individuals in an orchestra,in both the real world and the virtual a love for details is prerequisite with this instrument..the results are rewarding with this approach..

Moreover, It's one thing to have multiple synth models in your keyboard, but another if the tones you conjure up don't touch the heart of your audience (much less your pastor), these must be musical, and they must be timeless.consider Lyle Mays, zawinul, Stevie, Duke, Chick, azimuth, lorber, etc.this is what you want to think about when you buy workstation associated with a great piano sound

It would be nice to have a caption with the model and the year that it came out.

After reading all of your obviously ignorant comments so far, (2022-08-19), my confident and educated guess is that *none* of you have played the K2700, or if you have, you've played it in disastrous sound space(s) with woefully inadequate sound gear. Most, but not all, of the K2700 demos in this video are, to my ears, *terrible trash recordings* of what I hear through my Pro Tools Ultimate HDX "based", (with *now legacy but still killer* 5.2 JBL LSR6328P and JBL LSR6312SP studio setup), *With No EQ Nor Any Other FX Or 'Sound Embellishment' Added In Any Of The Sections Of My Audio Path, Beginning At The Analog Stereo Outs of The K2700 Through To The Powered JBL Monitor Speakers and Enclosures*. The K2700 is a beast, with its *entirely newly modeled* (a) acoustic & electric pianos, clavs, organs (KB3's & all others) & *all* its other acoustic & electric keyboards, (b) *all* its orchestral instruments, (c) *all* its pad, other modeled & programmed synth families, (d) *all* percussion, orchestral and drum kits, (e) everything else that I've not mentioned in my pitifully inadequate list of other Programs and Multis. I could go on and write a dissertation here, but frankly I don't have the time, *AND, likely most importantly, you all would get inextricably defensive and blow it all off anyway ... 😂 **** - Beginning of "Fan-Boy Mitigation Rant": Now, before you rush to the "fan boy" troll comments, I've been a multi-keyboardist with the best analog and digital keyboard/module/component, sound reinforcement gear, played in the most gorgeous recording studios "in the lower 48" during our shared modern history. My fully functional and *eclectic* collection of vintage (and current) analog gear, (beginning with my 1972 ARP 2600), and my fully functional and *eclectic* vintage and current digital gear, beginning with my 1974 Oberheim SEM 8-Voice "with its 16-bank digital patch memory module" - "yeah, that absolutely counts as programmable (albeit easily) digital gear!", which I then years later entirely rearchitected and thoroughly rebuilt for use with my 1980 E-mu 4060 16-track *digital* keyboard - "yeah, that absolutely counts as very complicated programmable digital gear!") ... I don't have time now for grammatically correct sentences, *only for lots of barely comprehensible phrase rants*!!! - Actually, my first digital gear was a 64-step CV & gate output digital sequencer that Tom Oberheim Built For Me, personally, and then a year or so later he upgraded it to a whopping 256-step CV & gate output digital sequencer, which Tom Oberheim Upgraded For Me, Personally!!! 😳😁 **** - End of "Fan-Boy Mitigation Rant" - Oh, one more thing: Commenters so far sound like those who would kill to get my collection of analog, digital, and supporting gear ... Sorry, you've disqualified yourselves! 🤣 AND IMPORTANTLY: *I Intend No Disrespect Nor Offense to the Posters of this RU-vid Video*! 🙂 They were obviously well-intentioned, but it's clear that detail was an "overhead fly-by" to the commenters that I've seen here so far (2022-08-19) ... Now, knowing human nature "as well as the next guy", you're all going to "troll rant me" despite my pitiful mitigation attempt, So Go For It And Knock Yourselves Out!😎 Mic Drop, and Peace Out ☮❤

We dont care only about pianos! Kurzweil was known for their realistic acoustic instruments emulations. This is gone after 2004. After the K2661 model , kurzweil is not kurzweil anymore. It is a dead brandname that belongs to a korean company that have much different moral values than the original kurz. They have a bad mentality and try to sell only bells and whistles and NO sound quality.

Good to know. Thanks for the information that the name was sold to a Korean Company in 2004.
