कुवैत में एक बिल्डिंग में आग लगने के बाद 41 भारतीय मजदूरों की मौत हो गई। इसके बाद भारत सरकार एक्शन मोड में है औऱ बाकी मृतकों की भी पहचान की जा रही है। इसी के साथ कुवैत में काम कर रहे भारतीयों के हालातों और उनकी सुरक्षा को लेकर सवाल उठने लगे हैं। हालांकि ऐसा नहीं है कि ये सवाल पहली बार उठे हैं। कुवैत में रहने वाले भारतीयों के हक को लेकर पहले भी कई बार आवाज उठी है। कई बार आरोप लगे हैं कि कुवैत में भारतीय मजदूरों को शोषण होता है लेकिन इसके उलट ये भी रोचक बात है कि कुवैत में 10 लाख से ज्यादा भारतीय काम कर रहे हैं। कुवैत की आबादी 48 लाख है, जिसमें 33 लाख से ज्यादा विदेशी हैं. इनमें से 10 लाख भारतीय श्रमिक हैं. यह कुवैत की कुल वर्कफोर्स का करीब 30 फीसदी है. वहां काम कर रहे विदेशी कामगारों में अधिकतर लोग ऑयल रिफाइनरी, सड़क, बिल्डिंग, होटल निर्माण में मजदूरी करते हैं. ऐसा नहीं है कि कुवैत में भारतीय महज मजदूरी ही करते हैं. वहां पर करीब 24 हजार नर्स, 500 डेंटिस्ट और एक हजार से ज्यादा डॉक्टर भी काम कर रहे हैं. इनके अलावा बहुत सारे इंजीनियर और दूसरे स्किल्ड प्रोफेशनल भी वहां पर काम में लगे हैं. वहां के मजदूरों से लेकर प्रोफेशनल को शानदार सैलरी मिलती है।

Most of the foreign workers working there work as laborers in oil refineries, road, building, hotel construction. It is not that Indians only work as laborers in Kuwait. About 24 thousand nurses, 500 dentists and more than a thousand doctors are also working there. Apart from these, many engineers and other skilled professionals are also working there. From labourers to professionals, everyone gets a great salary.
