The Coquihalla Subdivision of the Kettle Valley Railway stretched from Hope to Brookmere, British Columbia. All of it lays in ruins and only some sections can be navigated. Until late 2021, the route from Brookmere to Brodie Station was in decent condition. Then came devastating floods and fire, wiping out most of the bridges and effectively closing this part of the trail to the public.
The Brookmere to Brodie Station section used to be a moderately popular cycling route. My goal is to cycle the route anyway and overcome whatever obstacles may thwart my progress. There will inevitably be broken bridges, river crossings and considerable bushwhacking.

Trails Society of BC is advocating for this route will be redeveloped and restored, just like they did for the #5 highway system from Hope to Brodie and also repair the trail to Princeton. This is the only safe pathway for active travel between Hope and Princeton. We recommend getting to Princeton to start the Trans Canada Trail which is the Kettle Valley Rail Trail to Castlegar and beyond.

It would sure be a mammoth undertaking to restore the route! Here's hoping!

Would be great to see however the damage between Tulameen and Princeton is massive and I don't see it ever being fixed.

Wot a shock to see this now . I did all that riding in 2018 or so and this is just terrible to see how much damage has been done by fire and water.

Great video. So sad to see the disrepair this section has fallen in to. I was going to “like” the video but it was at 69 so…

I was going to try riding there myself. I guess I won't bother. Extreme weather is taking a toll on our beautiful province.

Wow. It sure is a wreck now. Last vid I saw of that trail was posted by Salty Beard, doing a 34 hr leg of the BC1000. I heard that Trails BC has no plans for rebuilding most lost bridges. Sad. Thanks for sharing your day. 👍

Thanks for the video, good work. Shame we have lost such a great resource, it would have continued to bring in tourist dollars, had it not been damaged. To bad victoria politicians cant see the value of thia trail, and start a private/public repair program.

So much damage to the route. I did the route from Midway to Hope and besides one big washout further along the Coq most of the trail damage had been done by those on quads.

You’ll be happy to hear that quads can no longer make it through. I was chatting with a couple locals from Brookmere who said the off-road activity through the area plummeted and they prefer it that way.

@LifeIsAdventureChannel you were speaking to the minority as the local pop was the biggest users. The motorized crowd did all the repair work on it in past years and they are making sections passable again
