I bought a weed trimmer for my Dad to help with weeding, It cost me $80 to buy and ship to Ghana from China and it cost me $73 for duties alone

It's quite technical...those countries are being controlled by France. Before Poland, for instance, joined the EU, their duty was above the sky. If Burkina get out of the francophone union, their duty will definitely change.

Yes, I school in Navrongo. Burkinabes are transporting cars from Ghana's habours to Burkina through Paga Almost every day. Yet duties on cars are cheaper in Burkina Faso than in Ghana.

Duty is high because gov't is interested in using only the lazy ways of taxation. That said, this current NPP is the worst culprit. Now, its like everyone owns the office he/she works in. Make as much as you can and take yours is what is going on.

This one is personal use oh. Imagine if you’re selling it. For instance you buy for $10k duty $15k that’s $25k mind you it is salvage so you have to fix it up a bit. You finally get a buyer but their money is not enough so you give them time to pay. You decide in cedis only for the dollar run in a few weeks and cause some loses on your behalf. The next time you bring the same car you bought at the same price the duty will increase due to the depreciation of the cedis. Our business all spoil Charley hmm e hard

@Kokut3 Please don’t ever say this again duties are fiscal imposed it has nothing to do on who is running the port. Aside duties there are shipping line cost and port charges these are the revenues whoever is running the port gets. Have you heard anyone complaining about port charges and shipping line fees? The government imposed taxes are super high. So please don’t say the port has been sold.
