The KWF 3-Fold Method of Generating Maximum Power: Hip-Rotation Compression; Joint Bending-Extension Power; and Whole-Body Centrifugal Force. www.kwfgi.com
WKF style of karate has destroyed these basics. Above all , most of the present generation students look for quick fixes rather than long term training and benefits. Its more like computer game of karate.
It would be great if a sceptic, not an acolyte, could comment on their experience of attending one of these sessions or of holding the pad when the Sensei punched it. It seems that physics dictate the amount of force generated and any increase would be marginal for a person of his mass, hence the spinning. For me, karate = self-defence. I should be able to defend myself to some extent after the 1st lesson.
Walk into a boxing gym or wrestling gym and say “I should be able to defend myself after 1 session” and watch everyone laugh, karate is no different. Anyone with a brain knows that adding more muscle and weight behind a strike increases power. Any striker can tell you that hips are the key to power. Don’t have to be an acolyte to have common sense.
