"Thers only 1 pin in this lock. But it's split into 45 puzzle pieces that have to be assembled in an order based on lunar tides" - things i expect Jim to say 😁💚🔒
5 false gated sliders that interact with a sidebar and the more pins you set correctly the deeper the false set and more pronounced the counter rotation are. But honestly I like your explanation better.
@@georgiajim2260 what level are those locks? “ belt system “. That and a 90 a pro have gave me the hardest time. I know one thing I do wrong. Every time I try to pick it I use the same approach every time same tension same everything. It clearly don’t work. I’ve picked probably 15 -20 years. I’d like to see what you do when you struggle with one the different approaches.
How can you tell which gen a smartkey is? My landlord just bought one the other day but I swear I am getting no feedback on any of the pins that would allow me to pick it, yet on lockpicking subs they say only certain ones are gen 3 and mine is not on their list.
So the gen 2's you don't have to tension the sidebar with that annoying little piece of shim. For some reason I have never been able to get that right.
Gen 1 and 2 bind like a normal lock because the they had a traditional sidebar design. Gen 3 has a both a square and reverse sidebar which is why you have to shim it to make it work. You can also tension through the reset hole and bind the sliders against the reset cradle. The newest versions of the smart key covered the hole to defeat shimming and changed the cuts on the sliders to defeat the smart key camera decoding attacks.
@@georgiajim2260 I had a feeling you could use the reset hole on the three. I just hadn't gotten around to trying to make something to get in there. I figured because of the way the reset worked for the key, it would have to affect the sidebar. Thanks Jim you're the goat
