They ruined the show by making him a horrible person. The show worked because Alan was a decent guy, and even Charlie was loyal to his family at least.

See, the problem I have with Alan is that his resentment towards Charlie is not fair. His problems are his own and to be honest, most of them were avoidable. Charlie never wanted the headache of marriage so he never got married. Is that the best way to look at life? No, he gave up a lot of things by not getting married, but he made his choice and he lives with it. Alan on the other hand is always looking at the glass half empty. As for the financial situation, you’re a chiropractor Alan! Why’d you choose to become that? How rich did you really think you were going to get doing that?Charlie wanted more and he went for it. Why don’t you? The music industry is very cutthroat and the fact that Charlie makes so much money out of it suggests a lot of hard work, despite Charlie not thinking só himself. Like they say, do what you love and you won’t work a single day in your life. I believe Charlie is the epitome of that. He doesn’t see his job as work because he enjoys it so much.
Yeah but Charlie doinked Alans Lawyer thus just to be petty, let Judith win because of Charlie leaving said lawyer when Charlie could've quite easily not only paid for a new lawyer but also sue the other lawyer for malpractice so Alan would've already had a place to live and not mooch off charlie for this long. It's not entirely Alans fault for having to live this life, Charlie took part in Alan loosing everything to Judith. If Charlie would've banged anyone else instead of Alans Lawyer then Alan wouldn't be in this huge mess also Im guessing you've never had a job because anyone who has had a job will tell you otherwise that after a year it just feels like work and that mentality of yours is really stupid and needs to die out.
