The flowers in the video are 4 O'clock flowers.Botinical name - Mirabilis jalapa (The four O'clock flower or marvel of Peru) is the most commonly grown ornamental species of Mirabilis, and is available in a range of colours. Mirabilis in Latin means wonderful and Jalapa is a town in Mexico. Mirabilis jalapa is said to have been exported from the Peruvian Andes in 1540. It is common in Burma, flowers open at around four O' clock daily & they are fragrant. It is also known as -မြေဇူပန်း -Myai Zu Pan in Burma .

I had these four o'clock flowers at my childhood house in Burma. Then I saw them popping up every summer in front of a house in a street in W1 which I passed on my way to the Regent Park for many years. I also saw them in a monastery in Sienna, Italy in 2004. Then three years ago, they mysteriously appeared in the community garden that I started in July 2007. I was overjoyed! It is also called မဥၨဴပန္းပန္း Nyctaginaceae (ပုုရႏၷဝါမ်ိဳးရင္း). I love its delicate fragrance.

I don't think I ever listened to this song from the beginning to the end as some parts of the song are new to my ears.... but I was very familiar with "lay nar yee hote pyi hote pyi" -- we used to scream out that phrase and run around when we were playing as kids but couldn't remember why we did that haha :)

Iconic burmese movie song from the iconic burmese movie called " Yatanabon" in the early 50s sang by an all time iconic burmese movie actress the late Kyi Kyi Htay.

Nice to hear from you again.Me and my family are well so far. Did not go the Global Reunion but my 2 sisters went there. Plan to visit Ygn on Nov.this year. Will see our mutual friends ( Daisy and Rosie Gyi) there again in Ygn. Hope you and your husband and family well also.

@MMAsIngs Thanks for your comment.. The flowers in this viideo are from the internet. I had this 4 O'clock flowers in my previous garden. It spreads freely due to relatively warm weather in London & the flowers are very beautiful. I have few plants now because they take lots of spaces & grow very quickly. My garden is paved & I have to grow them in a pot. Now there are very few flowers on the plants to take some picture for my video. It likes sunny position & south facing garden.

Thank you so much, for this must be the first song I ever knew. Yes, 'htobi, htobi' we'd say jabbing one another as kids messing about. I remember it as a track from the film "Akyaw Amaw", one of Kyi Kyi Htay's earlier films when she awaits her husband's return home from work. Wonderful gifted actress, one of many who started on the stage as traditional dancing actresses, but one of the best loved.
