Beautiful like snow on a Christmas eve,
Magical to those who believe,
Precious are the memories I’ll treasure here,
Ancient and dear, my Kiev.
Let me paint a picture you won’t forget.
It’s my vision, my vignette,
It’s rising high hear the Bell Tower sing
Chestnuts bloom in a fragrant spring
Silhouettes of majestic domes
Like onions of gold in a forest of simple homes
Laughter of the children is everywhere
Writers and and poets all agree.
Inspired by her hills there’s a dignity
That longs for the day when it’s free.
And even the poorest of families
Are richer there than we who leave.
