"What's the problem? "My computer is not working." "ok, is it ON?" "Yes, but I told you. its not working." "Are you sure it's ON?" "Of course! do you think I'm stupid?" "I'm sorry if I offended you. please turn the computer OFF now." ... "It worked."
Well Lynksis were the best brands to get Routers & Modems but now its all about Netgear Edit: Unfortunately Linksys is now back on top with their routers thanx to the Nodes. Got the 4200X Nodes with a Netgear Modem
My Netgear router isn't all that great but it has a far more reliable and consistent connection than the cable modem wifi combo I used to use with Spectrum. And it was back when it used to be Time Warner Cable
It is similiar to a repairman fixing a washing machine. He bills you 100 bucks while he quickly changes one screw that costs about 1 dollar. Point is that those remaining 99 dollars of that cost is his knowledge to know which screw to change
You're not paying $80 for them unplugging it and plugging it back in. You're paying $80 for them having gone through the education to know that unplugging it and plugging it back in was the solution.
@@Doc_Fun - It's actually my second this year. It's my third CompTIA cert, and I have a couple of others from Technical school and military. But that isn't getting me a job - that is where I need the most luck! But thanks for the support.
@@drServitis To uninformed people, just doing the thing without saying “I have no idea what I’m doing” out loud, looks about the same as total confidence. Pretty direct.
I love how kyle restores the internet in this season and then about 8 years later he is responsible for the death and rebirth of the internet when he erased the internet and wiped out everyones browser histories and troll comments. I think Kyle is the lord of the internet. LOL
Cartman would have made some sort of scheme with like idk something absolutely wild like the Taliban on his side or something or idk and had some sort of propaganda similar to the Nazis
Fun fact: I was having trouble with my laptop wifi and I literally tried eveything, every damn tutorial and nothing worked. But then I remember this episode and just did what Kyle did. It worked lmao
@@bdeamon1 they do but they never work when you try them first. The answer is usually to unplug everything at the same time instead of the first step being unplugging something and checking and unplugging something else and checking
There is a famous incident of a B-2 Spirit (stealth bomber) pilot in 2009 flying an international bombing run who experienced severe flight computer problems. He tried the “book” responses to fix the problem but they didn’t work. Finally, against protocol, he shut down the flight computers (the B-2 flies mostly using its flight control algorithm) and restarted the plane. It worked. They proceeded to the target and dropped their bombs. If the pilot’s name had been Kyle it would have been, well, epic! 😊
You know what surprised me the most about this episode is that you don't hear a word from Eric he only makes a small appearance you'd think he'd go full rage without the internet.
We had this same problem with our network at work. We spent hours working on it, having the techs that built it analyze it. This is what we did to finally fix it.
worst internet techs are IT guys who dont work with routers/modems/signals on a daily basis. These people think they know everything, and you cant convince them otherwise. Dumbest of all, literally. Its easier to work with a 90 year old than a IT guy who has no idea what hes talking about, but thinks hes right These IT guys are going to do some crap like install 3rd party software and then use their limited knowledge to interpret something like there is signal loss, and blame the company or modem manufacturer. When in reality, there is no signal loss, everything is perfect, and the issue is something dumb like their VPN is incompatible
Pazuzu810 Puerto Rico It was on September 2017 till March 2018 We got hit by 2 hurricane 1 was category 3 and a week later a category 5 Hash true was our government “was” not ready Bad leadership was in it Most groups that focus on saving people or providing resources to countries in the world Like the Red Cross had said that what happen in Puerto Rico was not meant to take that long That the government bad at it 2 months without water 3 without phone signal 6 without electricity Gasoline was rare Ice bags were gold Jesh it was really stupid how low and complicated our lives were cause a damn useless government and electric company were at fixing thing
As a Service desk specialist, this is how I imagine my customers think how internet works. At least once a week someone calls that internet connection is down or computer won't start at all and immediately ask that will I make a remote connection and fix it.
IT professionals are no different than the average person when it comes to what they can do with a modem/router. So restarting the modem is not just something you have to do, its the only thing an IT professional CAN do. You need an actual cable/internet tech to fix anything else
As a former Comcast and TWC agent I can say this is the most common thing you will get a call for, “This crappy internet hasn’t worked for the last 3 days blah blah blah” “did you try to unplug it and plug it back in?” “Oh God! You’re awesome!” “You are awesome sir you could unplug the cord and plug it back in” 😂
As an electrical engineer, the first step to finding electrical faults is to turn it off then on again. Sometimes that’s all it takes to fix something.
One of these days I’m gonna take the time to learn how the internet even fucking works so I can stop feeling so god damn stupid whenever it decides not to work or when internet companies blatantly lie to me about their speed.
You literally have quite the most powerfull way to get information and educate yourself, in yor harnds, so what are you even waiting for to do that lol
I think this episode gets one thing wrong: TV stations would love a world without internet. Personally, it's been years since I watched TV - whenever I wanna watch something, I look for it on the internet and watch it whenever I want, how many times I want, so why would I ever need my TV again? A pity, because I have a very big TV, but now I don't care about it at all. PS.: By "watch TV" I mean TV stations, channels and whatnot. I still use it to watch Netflix and stuff, basically using it as a big monitor in front of a couch.
Reminds me when someone asked me to fix their register. I either used alt and F4 or pressed ctrl, alt, and del. So I restarted the register and I guess I was looked as I was some sort of technology expert.
South Park teaches us another valuable lesson: The first thing you do when trying to fix an electronics problem, is to plug off and then plug in again.
The original seasons of the Simpson’s didn’t glorify it, they mocked it. In fact, South Park (and many other “adult” cartoons) borrowed heavily from that show. Cant comment on the modern episodes of Simpsons though, since I stopped watching
