We’ve been working hard all week and we’re kicking back with beer and pizzas and watching/listening. We have so much love and respect for you both. It’s fascinating to hear Kyle’s take on the bike sales during lockdown. We purely service and repair, we don’t sell. But we’ve definitely seen the rise of what we would call the ‘disposable bike’ - two words that should in our opinion never mix. As a workshop based in the UK, we’ve had so many new customers bring in a bike that is simply not economical to repair. And you’re absolutely right Kyle, these bikes aren’t the kind of bikes that allow a person to fall in love with cycling. It’s a cheap fix, and a truth, it doesn’t even really serve a purpose. We plead with these customers to look to the second hand market in the coming months to get a great value bike that will allow them to fall in love with cycling - because we know that the market for new bikes is still going to be high in the coming months. A little extra in that initial purchase can make a HUGE difference as to how cycling can impact your life. And please, as an industry, we need to somehow address the production and sale of ‘disposable bikes’ - bikes designed specifically to be throw away and not serviced. One of my favorite bike shops with very good service. Kyle & shop has been very respectful and & inclusive in my experience.

The thing about BMX's heyday in the 70s, that was racing. Freestyle really took off in the 80s. Freestyle IS pretty much the whole BMX world now. Racing still exists but it dons't get a lot of publicity.
