Never personally met Manzarek but he sent me a personalized autograph in the mail years back and he is the coolest guy ever in my book for that. He said that Kyle's portrayal of him was the only thing he liked about the movie. RIP Ray.

Kyle’s parents are both piano players, he grew up with piano, and he originally studied musical theatre before Dune, so of course he has musical ability.
Loved this movie when I watched it in as a kid, but haven't seen it since then. I just simultaneously realized Kyle Maclachlan played in it, and actually learned to play the organ for it. What a legend
This was back when Jonathan Ross actually hosted a decent chat show and had genuine interest in his guests. Unlike now, where his show is all about him (and nobody cares about Jonathan Ross' life).

Terrible casting choice. Kiefer Sutherland should've gotten the role. He's a true professional and would've eve made you feel like you were looking almost at the real Ray Manzarek.
