Adam got me through some of the darkest times of my life. It was like therapy for me dealing with depression and being an alcoholic. The drinking is years behind me now but I will never forget how hearing them helped pull me through that. Thank you Adam
Congrats on putting the drinking behind you. I’ve struggled myself and understand how difficult that is. CC has been part of the soundtrack to my life for a long time as well. Love these guys.
Well Adam, because you asked.... I listened to the suite this morning and I'm just in awe of the creative songwriting, the nuances of all the different instruments and how they have moments to shine at different places in the suite, and how the songs fluidly flow together. I didn't want it to end. I particularly enjoyed this interview because I am a writer and a poet and hearing about your writing process is truly inspiring. For the record I love your mind and your creative spirit! So glad this interview popped up in my recommended videos on RU-vid. I'm glad I got to see it!!!!
great interview!! my favorite thing is listening to tons of different music and then saying ..hey wait is that Adam singing in the background~~~~found the sordid humor track barbarossa long ago. it's an amazing tune!!! cheers and you all stay safe!!
The produce section of the grocery store is the isle of paradise growing from trees and vines. Seeds of time. The 💕 machine of pure green. The field of joy flowing with a brook of crystal clear water. Melon of honey dew to squeeze the lemon and aid your imagination into a universal expression of angels singing. Rain on the garden of your keys turning while letting go of the feeling this seems crazy. ☔
So jealous Kyle!! I'm so exited about the new vibes Adam! New music, incredible introspective and deep lyrics, you never disappoint! Can't wait to see you in GSO on Sept 28th! Counting Crows are back! I'm so excited! Thanks Kyle for the interview!
Does anyone know if Bobby and the Rat Kings is play on Bob Weir and Ratdog? I listen to it and that is what it reminds me of. Not sure if I am reading too much into it
This is really a deeply insightful interview 😯 Wow!! Great stuff. Hearing how intentional the construction of the Suite was and how excited Adam was about it makes the release glitch seem even more frustrating! Glad it got sorted in the end. It’s a fantastic piece of work! Funny I was just watching one of Kyle’s older interviews with Adam a few weeks ago. Must be so cool to get to talk to someone he really admires, and more than once!
After listening to the suite, my first thought was, now we know what it sounds like if you mixed Springsteen with Meatloaf.... and I mean that in the best possible way. The Crows are my favorite band of all time!
I think in some ways there is a 'separation' between Counting Crows and 'Adam,' musically. I always saw Adam singing as 'anybody in life' that was kind of 'speaking' a tribute to people who were no longer 'in' their lives. I think that part took on 'more' than just the music of the 'Counting Crows.' I could always think of him as speaking 'through me' whether it was to a girl who I never asked out or to my dad who I lived so far away from and 'barely' spoke to. Adam spoke 'the words' that most of us felt 'internally.' Sometimes I would actually 'dissociate' from the actual 'band' and musicality that way. That is what is 'fantastic' about both 'Adam' and singers like Robert Smith. To this day if I don't speak to a friend in a couple of years, I'll always send him a YT link to 'Have You seen Me Lately' and he'll 'respond' to it. Listening to 'Raining In Baltimore' actually 'broke' my dad's heart.
"For what shall it profit a man, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul?" Mark 8:36 I hope he turns to Jesus...pretty sure we know what it took to get that record deal.
