Keith Urban on New Album High, ELO’s Influence, and Covering Ariana Grande
Keith Urban joins Kyle Meredith to talk about his latest album, High. The country superstar tells us how the new collection started with a scrapped album that he started in 2022, and how ultimately he was unhappy with the limitations that record faced, as well as breaking past his own songwriting comfort zones. Urban also details working with Mike Elazondo on “Laughing All The Way To The Drank,” fleshing out his songs live, the influence that ELO and Robert Palmer have had on him, and recently covering Ariana Grande.

First Garth Brooks named his new radio station 615. Then Keith not only had to do shows. But he had to be seen in Paris doing the "happy, happy" for that Balenciaga shill. Then in AU airport. Vogue party and many more be seens. I remember it well. Then he sold his catalog. Then more AU BS like the laughing at garbage can animals, 'Be seen', at Cradle mountain in AU. Then all of a sudden scrapped album in February 2023. As for the Ariana Grande song, she said it was mostly about her getting divorced. Having a relationship with someone that was married and being judged by people, press and fans. But that she wanted everyone to make their own interpretation. Her version was poppy. Keith's was beautiful.
