This kinda actually makes sense... when you look at almost every model of grievous the top left green lightsaber when your staring him in the eyes in RoTS is just a Anakins Graflex saber with a green blade
I think if you took the sounds of the Black series, the ignition of the elite, and the flickering of the galaxy's edge saber you'd have the perfect Kylo Ren lightsaber.
I have the Elite but I’m really feeling the legacy a bit! The matte black and weathering is great on the legacy! But I’m gonna paint my elite! Already have the paint…the elite doesn’t come with a belt clip but I had a buddy of mine do so cutting on a chain slot for the door that works perfectly! Gotta mount it to the belt tho

Kylo Ren / Ben Solo is probably my favorite character of the sequel era. I love this saber and am super happy with the GE Legacy hilt. Now whether to get a Luke ROTJ or Obi-Wan TPM saber next... 🤔
I agree, that new black series force FX looks almost orange on camera. It is very bright but the other two look “more red” because of that flickering the newest one is.

Great review! Been waiting for this since the graflex comparison. The legacy lightsaber is close to perfect if only it had a brighter blade, smoother ignition effect and better responsiveness. With the unstable effect, the cheap hasbro deluxe bladebuilders looks a lot better than the force fx elite's. These high end sabers are pretty expensive, but there's this new budget sabers with removable blades at Disney stores and the kylo ren one looks especially good and screen accurate. They're pretty cheap and very similar to the legacy sabers, apart from being plastic and of prequel designs. I think they would make for a great comparison against Disney's own legacy sabers, especially Kylo's.
After seeing all of them, I will say that the Galaxy's Edge saber is the best. The Elite is a close second. It has more bells&whistles but looses due to the preposterous on/off-switch placement. Kudos for the superb comparison guys.
People who insist that it’s Anakin’s and throw a fit whenever they call it Rey’s saber makes me laugh. Nobody says anything about it being called Luke’s UNLESS Rey is also mentioned
shoot646 Anakin crested it. Luke inherited it and deserved it. Rey basically stole it. It’s a Skywalker lightsaber. And no matter how many times she says it, everyone knows she isn’t one.

I just got back from Galaxy's Edge West and had a blast! My Fiance and I both built our custom lightsabers from Savi's workshop. Got loads of other goodies as well. I did end up buying the Kylo Ren Legacy saber along with a 36" blade and love it! Has a great weight to it and just looks amazing. Love the review! Liked and Subscribed :)
Going to Disneyland from San Diego today. I'm actually going just to buy the Kylo Ren Legacy Saber and to ride the new Rise of the Resistance. This video got me super excited for the light saber. Awesome video guys!

I feel like this inst an original idea but I like the concept of Kylo Rens saber including the equivalent of a couple of cellphone vibration motors so it can have a bit of physical feel for the instability.
I have been on the hunt for a good quality Kylo Ren lightsaber and I came to this video. In my opinion the black series Kylo Ren force fx elite lightsaber is the best, good lightning and hast the snow drag effect. Sure the switch is loose but i have hand grip gloves so that might help. Like i said this is my opinion.
I got the Galaxy's Edge Kylo Ren back when it was called Parks Exclusive. I was pleased that it costed less than my black series. I was prepared to buy the Rey. But they had the Kylo. I didn't for the life of me know how to take the main blade off until I watched this. I probably could have read the instructions. But I'm glad I seen this video.
The Legacy cross bars do have a light flickering effect. If you isolate in your hands you can see it. I noticed it without doing that and checked to be sure by isolating one of them.
It is Rey's saber now. She tried giving it to Luke, who discarded it. She gave it to Leia who gifted it back to Rey. Therefore, Rey's saber, Anakin is only the maker.

Anakin has since legally croaked, struck down by rogue jedi Obi-Wan Kenobi (so says the Empire) which means it rightfully passes to Luke and/or Leia. It was given to Luke since Anakin's entire identity was legally dead. Obi-Wan obviously knew the truth but there was no reason not to give it to Luke. Whom Obi-Wan and Yoda watched over his entire life from afar with great interest. He was destined to become a Jedi. Obi-Wan would not have been in touch with Bail Organa enough to get status updates on the sister. The less he knew the better. Especially in those early years. Luke lost it, it went unclaimed for years which meant it was being kept by someone who is not the rightful owner. Maz gave it to Rey, who rejected it. It passed hands eventually back to Rey, who attempted to give it back to Luke. Who...fucking discarded it like it was a joke. It's abandoned property. Rey retrieves it, thereby legally claiming it. She gifts it to Leia, which would be her rightful inheritance from both her father and brother. Who gifted it back to Rey. Strictly speaking, it would overall legally belong to the Empire since Vader was basically its property and you can assume the Empire owns everything he possesses. Including stolen property. Also managed to pick up (Anakin’s) Disney park’s saber for $35 brand new straight from Disney and the defect on the activation box doesn’t really bug me
If you follow the History of the Saber, by law it is now Rey's. Anakin "died" when he became Vader, and Obiwan was a custodian of the saber until Luke inherits it, then Luke loses it and therefore the finder of the lightsaber can now lay claim as Luke abandons it and builds a new one, the finder of the saber then gives it to Maz, so now its hers, but she intended on gifting it to Rey, who at first didnt accept it, but then accepts it later. So its technically hers, but after the RoS she burys it. So its hers but she doesnt want it anymore.
I purchased a box set of Kylo's saber in Disney Springs late last year.The hilt itself in means of detail is exactly the same as the Legacy saber, which I love. The difference is how to place the blade in. You still have to unscrew the top to put it in but the button for the effects on the elite saber is a locking mechanism in which you have to push to be able to twist the blade out. It comes with a plastic stand that is ok, but I wish it would have came with the metal one. And it also came with the wall mount and belt clup
I moved from California to st Louis over a decade ago. It sucks i could only get ythe og black series saber when it came out by the way, if you're looking to buy the original Black Series kylo Ren lightsaber do not buy any of the new ones get the original release because they started making a very crappy after like three or four months it's very hard to get an actual I'm good saber I got lucky and got it within the first 2 weeks but I've seen a lot of people complaining about how crappy made the re-release is

Its Its legally Rey's because wheb Anakin "died" or became Darth vader it should be past on to Padame but she died so it was passed on to a friend until the decendents are aged then he gave it to luke so then it was Luke's but then when hes hand got cut off he lost it,then that weird lady with the glasses found it and since there was no name or anything its legally hers now but she gave it to Rey but she didnt take it so she gave it to Finn so he cab give it to Rey so now its Finns lightsaber but he gave it tp Rey which means its legally her lightsaber, yes sir thank you very much
Yeah, that's technically correct if you use the legal law and "Starwars irl" explanation video to find the righteous owner of the lightsaber, but I disagree since Starwars is a different universe than ours and more advanced in technology and other stuff, also they aren't from earth which is why the law may not exist in Starwars universe and their current era, the righteous owner of the lightsaber is Anakin, Luke have his own lightsaber from SW:ROTJ, and Rey have her own lightsaber now.
Just ordered mine. I used some gift cards I got from best buy for buying a washer dryer set. Pretty much only paid for half the saber, cost me 180ish. Cant wait for it to show up so I can dork out in my front yard.

1. The Legacy saber did have flash effects on the guards.. it also has a better fx with a yellow flash verses that white flash and the pulse looks better than the elite, 2. The Ben Solo saber was in it longer than 4 seconds... it was on the desk and was shown multiple times in the retelling of the attack scenes, 3. if I was going to Disney for a saber, I'd be building my own unique saber.
At this point, besides the 2015 black series and the size of the cross guard... Galaxy's Edge Pros: Cool hilt, probably the best one besides those two. Cons: They used/recycled the 30~40 dollar sound effect with less features / some defect cross blades like the tube got scratched. (It happened to me twice from the new one and end up return everything. Even the cast member from trading post was surprised.) Force FX Elite Pros: Awesome feature. Probably the best one besides the Neopixel. Cons: Inaccurate hilt color / belt clip absent / gets a lot of defect from the blade / 'Too expensive' Critical: The activation switch. ...Just what are they thinking? We need an update version of these.... Hope there's a feedback corner.
11:10 Between the original and elite I prefer the Elite. Sure the ignition switch is clumsy but I have hand grip gloves so that might help. And now it's Feb.8 2020 and for Halloween I will be Kylo ren
I wish that the Galacy's Edge Lightsabers would have a kyber crystal so that you could change the colour instead of buying a Vader's Vault or installing a custom hilt from parks or korbanth.
I scored a "not mint" (just the box - had a tear on it) version of the elite for $225 - mine doesn't work unless the crossguards are installed in a specific way, although as far as I can tell they are the same. Switch placement is a REAL DRAG. Lights and sounds are pretty awesome though - it sounds/looks FEROCIOUS. Tempted to get a Legacy one now. Ugh. $$$
That's a great deal on the elite! I especially enjoyed the sounds on the elite saber. Nice score. And if you dig the Elite then don't bother with the Legacy. Get another hilt you don't have!

Biggest problems with the Force FX Elite (aside from it not always working properly & the blades not always lighting up in unison) are the loose on/off button & the hilt itself being too detailed & uncomfortable to hold for long periods. You can’t do tricks with it for that reason because it digs into your hand. Turns off way too easily with the loose switch too.
I’m like 99% sure that with the Elite lightsaber, when you hold it at an angle it’s the sound that kylo’s lightsaber makes at the battle of Crait from TLJ, the way it kind of spits the noise out is different to TROS and TFA
Is thier any chance that you guys can get a hold of the Disney parks kylo saber for a comparison between the parks version and the galaxys edge version?
The Disney Parks Kylo saber is almost identical to the GE Legacy. Main differences are the accessories, blade length (33" on the DPE, IIRC), the blade having a different locking mechanism that requires unthreading part of the emitter (and which is not compatible with other legacy sabers).
I own the galaxy’s edge version. The black color on it is dope. The only complaint i have is why did they have to make it so big instead of actual size props from the movies? when you compare them there’s a noticeable size difference, seeing how much bigger these collectibles are in your hand to Adam Driver holding his saber in the movies. quality is great, hands down, and looks good as decor. But they really didn’t need to make them thicker
I think the GE Legacy sabers are pretty much to scale with the actual props aside from the crossguards and the emitter ring. Those are both oversized to accept the blades. Don't forget that Adam Driver is a big dude - Ben Swolo is a full 6'2". The saber looks tiny when he's got it, but huge when Rey's wielding it!
It is crazy how a passion for something can make grown men play with light toys, to the point they consider the practicality in safety of the fake concepts.

My fav one out of the three is the black series elite one because of the effects and plus the switch placement most people don't like where they put the switch but I like it
I bought the supreme leader elite version. It was the first one I bought, but since then I've gotten a few more and most recently sabertrio's reaver and that easily beats out all others. the kylo ren saberfont on my reaver is amazing in comparison to the 3 you featured.
Have you all checked out the boxed version of the Kylo Ren saber that is available at Disney? I have that one and the original Black Series, and the one from Disney takes a lot of the best attributes from your review and jams it all together in one package. It comes with a stand, a belt hook, blade, blade plugs, and hilt obviously. The hilt has the same finish as "the last jedi" saber, and is directly proportional with the Ben Solo saber that just released. It also has a far superior "unstable" effect than my Black Series saber and the Black Series Elite that you reviewed. I don't think there are as many sound options there, but the blade is bright and reactive, including a clash effect that blinks it out for a second. It's not ideal, but I think it takes some of the best parts from all three of the sabers you reviewed and sticks them into one $150 dollar package. At the very least, it's worth checking out if you want a jack of all trades saber, master of none (except looking amazing.)
Yes! The boxed “Disney Parks Exclusive” is almost exactly the same saber as the Legacy apart from the blade, locking mechanism and packaging/accessories. Solid saber.
why are the black series so dull? For that price, sabertrio, electrum.. both good choices and they are SUPER bright. I honestly dont know why theyre still using rally old tech :(
You guys to do a comparison with the Galaxy's Edge Darksaber versus the force effects elite Black series Darksaber and after that also you should also do a comparison with the Legacy lightsaber of the Ray Skywalker versus the Black series Force effects elite Ray Skywalker Lightsaber and also they're also making a brand new Leia Organa Force effects elite lightsaber that's in pre-order right now and also would like to see you do compares you with the Galaxy s version that's already out with the force effects version
I loved your side-by-side comparison and review! I'm not a fan of Kylo or the sequels, but your review was so interesting, I almost want a Kylo saber! Product reviews are cool, but I really appreciate comparisons between different versions, especially for things like Star Wars collectibles, where the "same" item has been released multiple times by different companies.
When I was 13 in 2013 I believe. I got two FX lightsabers from Walmart? A Vader and Blue Luke. Were they rare or something because I haven’t seen them in stores since then. (In SoCal) they were like $30-$60 I don’t remember.
I would like to know where you can get the first one for 50 bucks, i would buy them all day long because even on ebay the cheapest i have seen used is over 100.00 and new 150 and up so don't know where your getting your prices from.
I personally am not a Star Wars fanatic, or even casual fan, I have done a Kylo Ren cosplay with a combat saber, which was not even close to screen accurate in hilt design, etc, so I am looking at getting a screen accurate saber that wouldn't require much mods to it aesthetically, if you had to choose between the Galaxy edge and Elite, just out of functionality for sounds etc, which would you say looks and functions better?
