I love these videos! They are so talented. For those who don't already know yes Katsumi is far left. Unfortunately, she is now retired. I believe Maiko Mamehana retired and most of the Umeno Okiya maiko except Umechie.
Umeno is still suffering mass retirements. They lost three of their four maiko in December 2019, including one, Umechisa, who debuted two months earlier in October. The fourth maiko, Umehina, became a geiko in April 2020. Umechika, Umeha and Umehina are the only ones Umeno has left.
@@belmarmom don’t Geiko eventually become Okasan themselves? Hopefully they find other ways to bring more in because I know many who’d give their left leg to receive such training ❤❤❤❤
@asa1bann2 Thank you very much for the compliment. This universe fascinates me strongly, I try to learn the most of informations I can about it every day. You have uploaded many wonderful videos of dances ! Thank you again for sharing them.
Irene Gavidia YES. I think Inoue Yachiyo IV said a kyomai dancer doesn’t really start to get good until she’s at least 30. And if you’ve seen videos of her dancing well over that age you know it’s the truth.
@@edienandy yes it is and that not only applies in dancing. Also applies on music. And more. That is why they take the experience and knowledge over the beauty and age.
