This is the longest I have seen, 1400-meter-long cherry blossom tree tunnel located on the border between Kyoto and Osaka. I shot it in one take. It will be 10 minutes long walk, with other footage afterwards. The full name of the park is Yodogawa Riverside Park Sewaritei District.
This beautiful recreation area is located in Yawata City, Kyoto Prefecture. It can be easily reached from Kyoto or Osaka by Keihan Line. You will have to get off the train at Iwashimizu-Hachimangu Station, from where it will be just about 10 minutes walk. Yodo River or Yodogawa River is the river which originates from Lake Biwa and flows through Shiga, Kyoto and Osaka Prefectures into Osaka Bay. Yodogawa Riverside Park is a series of 40 separate parks located along the river mostly in Osaka Prefecture. Sewaritei District of the park, which you will see in this video, is located on the side of Kyoto Prefecture at the place where three rivers Katsura, Uji, which is the one flowing from Lake Biwa, and Kizu River meet. The distinctive feature of this park is a 1400-meter-long two lines of cherry blossom trees planted on both sides of the separation levee between the rivers. Although it might not be so well known by the visitors from abroad, Sewaritei is one of the most famous cherry blossom viewing locations of Kansai Region. We visited it on 31st of March 2021. This year sakura was blooming very early.
This video is an experiment from the technical and content standpoints. I decided to do one continuous shot because it is the best way to convey the main feature of the park, which is the 1400-meter-long sakura tree tunnel. This time I shot the video completely in 4K and on a longer focal length than I usually do. Also, the final result is 50 frames per second instead typical 24 frame which gives completely different feeling to it. The main long walking scene has a speed up of 67%, which cut it’s time from about 16 minutes to under 10 minutes. On the other hand, the rest of the content is slowed by 33%, except for the walking back long scene which is 10X speed up. The goal of this video is to convey the atmosphere of the place as a whole, which in addition to the beauty of the nature also includes the people enjoying it. If you pay attention to them, you can see a lot of small moments passing by while I walk through the park. Any feedback is highly appreciating in the comment section below. I hope you will enjoy the video!

Thank you very much for watching and even reading what I wrote! I am perfectionist type of a person, so I am not only concentrating on the video but also paying attention to other details around it, like description and subtitles both of which I translate to different languages. Kan do Chinese translations. I am happy to hear that you liked the result! Once again thank you very much! Stay safe!

Yes, we watched reports that the season was very early this year, over 1000 years earlier than normal since records were kept. Still stunning, thanks again Roman, stay safe.

Thank you very much as always! Yeah, this year caught me off guard a bit because I was still trying to finish The Last Sakura video when it started to bloom already. There are going to be few more cherry blossom videos from Kyoto, which I am editing now. All the best, stay safe!

Thank you very much! I have seen the woodblock prints from Edo period, but after reading your comment I first associated them with my previous video, The Last Sakura. The end part of this video has also a bit of those photographic scenes without any camera movement. Also tilted lines might be one common thing, or is it color? It is quite long time since I saw those block prints in a museum, so maybe I do not remember them well enough. Still I kind of want to associate them more with the previous video. Thank you very much for watching and commenting! We appreciate it a lot! Stay safe!
