If you weren't already aware, the ICOCA card (And all IC cards) can be reused up to 10 years after you last used it. So, for example. If you return to Japan in 3/5/9 years time, then you can use your ICOCA card again in Tokyo, Kyoto, Osaka, Hiroshima, etc.

Gi-yoh-Za :) Also the cooks and staff LOVE when you compliment them. Oi-Shi-Desu! At the temple you wash your hands at the fountain, put coins in box, clap twice, think to yourself about your name, address and a wish then clap and ring the bell. You also bow entering and exiting the main gates facing in.

@zonzillamagnus5902
@zonzillamagnus5902 3 месяца назад
@@dayla8634 Hi there, here I am in Japan comin at cha. The reason why is because the sounds are shortened from gi-yo to gyo in spelling but it sounds like a shortened fast version of gi-yo instead of the more gutteral version of western languages which would be gyoh. Try pronouncing them and gi-yo will be with your tongue pressing up against the top of the mouth whereas gyoh will have your tongue down and the sound come from deeper down. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-PM7P1K4xDrQ.html

Nice to meet you. Welcome to Japan🌱🌱 You can use your ICOCA card to pay at family restaurants, Starbucks, and other large chain stores! You may want to show it every time you pay your bill at a restaurant👍✨ The Japanese dishes we want you to try are Okonomiyaki, Tonkatsu, Eel, Tempura, Soba, Grilled Fish... there are many! Only eat ramen and sushi once! Melon bread, egg sandwiches, and hot coffee from convenience stores are also a must 🌱🌱 By the way, feasts eaten at special occasions in Japanese households are sukiyaki, yakiniku, unagi (eel), and nigirizushi. In Japan, ramen has the image of being a quick meal for businessmen's uncles. Women do not go to ramen restaurants with other women. It is very sad that most Japanese food overseas seems to be ramen and sushi. Oh, one more excellent thing about vending machines 🎵 In the event of a major disaster such as an earthquake, when many people are unable to return home, the vending machines will be opened for free as emergency beverages. 4.5 to 8 million people are expected to be unable to return home in Tokyo😳!

Most Shotengai have similar architecture like the one here in your VDO. You can find mom and pop shops, restaurants, wet market as well as franchises like Uniqlo, Book-off or Mcdonald's along the stretch of any Shotengai.

Good stuff I love watching these videos. Not sure exactly how it works but when you win money at Pachinko, they give you these “blocks” of plastic bars (might be different by store), and you take take that to a window (you can’t see people, literally a small window where people line up) outside of the store to get it exchanged to money. My guess is they have two separate legal entities to get around laws? Gambling is not allowed in Japan at this time… MGM is building a casino in Osaka and that might become the first ever “proper” casino.

Thank you for the interesting video! The gambling situation in Japan is complicated. Pachinko and slot machines are essentially similar to casinos, but they are not illegal because the medals are converted into prizes and the prizes are purchased by different stores. Legally, the situation is not publicly recognized, but is tacitly approved. In the near future, there are plans to legalize a full-fledged casino like those in Las Vegas on reclaimed land in Osaka after the Osaka Expo is over.

I love how clean Japan is and also how safe it is. I don't have to worry about gun violence or getting mugged. If you leave your belongings about no one steals it. btw Pachinko is gambling. Technically gambling is illegal in Japan but whatever you win in Pachinko you can trade the token in outside for actual money. Pachinko is basically a loophole to the law.

So im not sure how accurate my explanation is, but basically the casinos use the same loophole as pachinkos? Either that or you dont really get to cash out at all lol. You pay for your first round of chips and as you win more, you just store that into your "account". So the next time you play you'd basically have a bigger bank. I think, hahaha.

Casino is illegal, but not Pachinko , which is really double-standard. Pachinko industry has been run mostly by Koreans, (I heard North Koreans,and a huge sum of money has been sent to North Korea) and it's so lucrative. Japanese government is getting a huge revenue from it, so we see the double-standard here. During the Corona crisis, many shops and restaurants were shut down or ran out of business. On the other hand, Pachinko parlors were open as before. Why? The government used this excuse as "the customers don't talk in the parlor."

Yes gambling you bet your money for any valuables is illegal in Japan. Horse racing and boat racing are the only exceptions, which are officially permitted by their specific laws. Pachinko/slot has to be illegal in that theory, but the scheme is that they just give the players metal balls or coins just for entertainment, and ACCIDENTALLY there is a random shop where they buy the balls/coins for some reason. It’s ridiculous but also yakuza related in many cases, so that’s the reason pachinko/slot still exists. I’m not sure how about the casino you saw on the street, but guess they don’t pay money for rewards, but instead some small snacks or something, just for amusement.

I know you are trying your hardest to speak in the language of the different places you go, but the way you pronounce gyoza sounds nothing like what you want. It sounds more close to goya, which is bitter melon in Japanese. Japanese have a hard time understanding anything when it's not pronounced correctly, especially words that are not their own. Try saying Mexico in standard English and they wont understand what the hell your talking about, but if you say mekishiko......
