They have such a beautiful contrast between modern cities and traditional houses,to quiet suburbs and lush flora, and it's unbelievably clean,Japanese sure know the true quality of life.
This is a wonderful video, detailing the quite street life in the Gion district. I spent 3 days there and absolutely loved it. Kyoto is the best major city in Japan (from the many I visited). I can't wait to go back and visit the friends I made there. Nice video!
I'm going to Japan on a family vacation this summer. First to Tokyo, then to Kyoto and finally to Okinawa. I can't wait to go to Kyoto. I hope to buy a kimono there and hopefully get my picture taken with an actual Geisha. :)
@5698rlnd: So you mean his phrase, and also yours are actually idioms? "I had my kids there" means that they were born at that particular place? Sorry I'm not English, I didn't know they used it in that way.
I am Japanese. Dear foreigners! Please preserve the beautiful culture and townscapes of your country. Instead of leaving it as old as it is, try to preserve it beautifully. Please.
What was the framerate this was shot in (25p,30p, 60i,) ? Also, what tool did you use to render to the video and what were some of the settings (bit rate, file format, de-interlasce)? Thanks,
It seems very peaceful there if any one has ever lived in Kyoto please would u let me know if you where happy living in Kyoto ? Since im studying Japanese to go there i would like to know ^^
A foreigner (who is not born in Japan) being insulted or bullied is almost impossible in Japan. But bullying in Japanese schools happens a lot compared with other countries, there is a lot of documentation available regarding this. Japan is a collective society, which has positives and negatives.
I went to Kyoto during my two-week stay in Japan. I ended up staying overnight at a hotel because I missed the last the last bullet train leaving for Tokyo.
Actually if the guy meant social atmosphere, then he's being totally correct about Japan. Japan is a very collective society, people judge you for being different way more than in more individualistic countries, the Japanese are also HEAVILY discouraged from early on to not express their true feelings and opinions. Nevertheless the Japanese have their good points also: attention to details, composed attitude and politeness, importance they put on the community, boss-employee relation is relaxed.
The Japanese make a clear distinction between foreigners and their own people. The social atmosphere thing I explained (has already been researched in a lot of universities, is something well known, even by Japanese sociologists) only counts for themselves. A foreigner will be treated with respect and curiosity, but you will never be part of their 'group'.
Actually, the radiation level in Tokyo has been CERTIFIED by the Italy national authorities as being lower than Rome or Naples (simple and logical explanation - most of radiation found in cities comes from radon emission from terrain, and the ground in Rome and Naples is more radon-prone than Tokyo,,,). Some people speaks just to air their stupidity.
awesome video...a country that values silence, even the little bit of talk that I can hear I can't understand, which is even more perfect given that I live in a country filled full of stupid meaningless public banter.
about radiation in Japan. Peoples in Minamisoma live there and that is 25 from the Nuclear plant and it live around 60,000 peoples in Minamisoma. so to live in Tokyo, Kyoto, Takayama, sendai etc. it is ABSERLUTERLY NOT!!! dangerous
As an American/German/Scotsman/Pollack/Russian/Irishman/Georgian/American Indian/Frenchman/Dutchman I approve this message. But no, seriously, Japan is infinitely better to almost every country on the planet. The HDI verifies this. If the guy who is wrongly saying stuff wants to see smog, then he should go to cities like LA. Fukushima is also infinitely better in terms of situation when compared to Chernobyl. Anyways... /rant end
Don't spread false information. No, they were not forced, they were recruited and paid very high salary. For more details, see the video on youtube called "Comfort Women the truth be told " in which an American explains the truth with the offical document made by US army.
