You might also be interested to know that one of the girls here was born with only one leg; her right leg from I believe just below the knee is missing. She uses a prosthetic. And she did the whole 5.5 miles of this parade.

Thank you for this reaction! It is fun, entertaining. I have been learning more of how these students put together these performances. Their motto: Full of Energy, Smiles, Dreams. In the mid 2000s students were inspired by a dance/performance group to incorporate dance into their marching. They were fortunate to have an advisor/director whose philosophy was: I won't teach, I won't tell you what to do, I will not interfere. This activity is a club. A club run by the students for the students. They have no fewer than 11 committees. Every member serves on at least one committee. Upper class members teach the lower class members everything. The level of detail in the planning is astounding. When carrying equipment outside to practice THEY RUN to build physical endurance. They do math addition graphs to build quick thinking and concentration. Balance and core exercises to build strength which includes standing on the right leg with the left leg raised to a 90 degree angle and the left foot pointed at the ground. They learn to hold this position for 3 minutes. The first thing color guard members are taught is where and when to look (the head snaps). Those movements are determined by tradition and taught before flag routines. I am sure what I have learned so far is but a small part of what this club does in training. About the Mario Corner: When studying the Rose Parade route it was determined the angle of the corner was more than 100 degrees. The band is spread out so wide that the corner had to start at a precise location. If that was missed it would result in the outside row running into the far curb. When you watch this video you see the members in each line compress into a narrower formation as they come around the corner. When the entire band has completed the corner the drum cadence changes and the entire formation widens back out in unison. Nothing is left to chance. I always enjoyed the television show How It's Made. I enjoy learning how Kyoto Tachibana SHS band is made. I have my Grandmother's curiosity. It certainly makes life interesting.

Hello, the " Mario Turn " is a great way to start a video. Besides this fine 23 minute G.B.A. video, there is the longer 55 minute video by this camera man. There were approximately 110 active members and 90 Alumni present for the 2018 Tournament of Roses Parade. One member is a Japanese Pop Star returning to her Alma Mater to march in the Tournament of Roses Parade for the second time with the Kyoto Tachibana Senior High School Brass Band Club. " Hey! "

Super Mario was developed by Nintendo, which are based in Kyoto. KTs performance of the Mario turn is like a homage to the company

"How many is there in the band?" It depends of the years.. once they been to only a few dozens to even hundreds.. it depends how many want to join and even succeed... not everyone succeed to join the crew... also Tachibana High School is an art and music school

This was great! Many of the best collegiate marching bands perform in high quality tournaments all across the country. Very high musicianship. I love it. My favorite what’s when a band I watched played Peaches en Regalia by Frank Zappa!

Not familar with this band, but they are playing real underground music in a very nice, cruel and entertaining way, they are predestinated to do some Zappa tunes, yes!

It's not the worst thing I've ever seen/heard. The worst thing I've ever seen/heard will always be the Mummers string band. This is second worst.
