Just discovered this performance of my favorite concerto! The tempo is just right, and I love how Zimerman allows all the nuance and depth of emotion to be heard here. He doesn't allow the bravura passages and trills to extend beyond the boundaries of Brahms' musical intent. He shows a careful understanding of the piece. I recently heard the Pollini/Abbado offering of this piece as well; I was disappointed with the tempo and other things, which was a surprise. Here, Zimerman and Rattle got it just right, imo. Have long been a Zimerman fan.

Exquisite- Krystian Zimmerman's innate ability to convey such depths of feeling with sensitivity cannot be equalled!

A modern reading without exaggeration in tempo. Zimmerman achieves a reading that softens Brahms' massive arpeggios as much as possible.

Concert written for his great friend and mentor Robert Schumman. The central part for me is the 17:25 point where the sweet theme of remembrance is cited by Brahms in the piano. There is a whole range of feelings and memories of the author until we arrive at a lamentation and beginning of march funeral (21:00) by the piano. At this moment Brahms regains strength and hope with uplifting quotes regarding Schumman's biography. The orchestra has been corroborating until it They also assume noble, intense and uplifting tones on the theme until the end.
