Kyudo Demonstration during the 2018 Kagamibiraki & Budo Hajime, at the Nippon Budokan.
-- Introduction --
Since ancient times, the Sharei, the ceremonial shooting, was presented during religious ceremonies and other formal occasions. Traditional clothing is worn, representing a specific era and its traditions, and the shooting is executed based on the principle of Kikyo Shintai.
It is said “shooting begins with etiquette and ends with etiquette” meaning that one should act according to time, place and ranking of the situation. It is the main focus of Kyudo to reunite the shooting and etiquette in harmony.
Since ancient times, one’s goodness is polished through the bow and it has become an important tool to establish the ethical and moral structure of society.
In that sense, emphasizing the spiritual aspects with honesty and courteousness, the shooting allows to express one’s heart, and embodies the beauty of harmony.

I really love kyudo,many years ago i met a japanese kyudo master with 85 years old,he was so but so srong,i mean the entire body,it was the only time in my life that i saw someone using hara and dantien for real,not just talking but doing it and showing something really amazing,i am not talking about tricks,or the kind of things that we all have seen before,and because i am very skeptical about this kind of things and i know one or two things about cheap tricks and mind manipulation,i really tried to make his life difficult,even in movement i used all my strength and speed,a mean i seriously tried to punch him,kick him,and grabbing him,but the result was the same,without understanding how i was on the floor,i was trapped,and it was really painful, real pain! after more then two months i felt pain and i had marks on my skin.that night i could not sleep all my body was weak and painful my heart was pumping and my breathing was irregular.The only person that i knew that was also similar to this man was a japanese taikiken master,and after that happening with the kyudo master,i told to the taikiken master what happen to me,and with a little smile,he said; ho so you met him? he his very strong isn`t?-Thank you very much-

I don't know about archery much but aren't you suppose to hit the mark in the middle why are they all missing in 6:04 and everyone goes wow.

'close enough'. Kyudo is incredibly difficult, and hitting the target from this distance is more or less the highest level in the discipline. So, close enough.

@@matztertaler2777 It is not about the technic but about the tool. Japanses yumi currently use have the same shape and properties for more than 1200 years. Obviously you cant expect having the same accuracy with an obsolet technological tool comparing to more modern bows. The shooting technique require a full body comitment which is really difficult to master.

@@PurplepilulePsy yep kyudo is definitely most difficult more than normal archery because the positioning of the target is lower , far lower then normal archery target would be. So the precision is low.
