Kyung-Wha Chung's monumental performance of Beethoven's masterpiece with formidable Klaus Tennstedt and Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra in Amsterdam in 1989.
Here we see an artist at the top of her game. Everything that made Kyung-Wha Chung a 1st tire violinist a couple of decade ago is all there; technical accuracy, fiery presence, intense concentration, and pure silvery beauty of the tone, but now the mature artist balances and mingles them seemingly at total ease all to the service of the music. The result is this performance of superb details, incredible beauty and engaging drama.

옛날영상인데도 계속 찾는이유가 있어요 요즘 잘하는 연주자들도 영상들도 많지만 8-90년대 영상들의 그 따뜻하고 온화한 느낌이 연주자의 섬세함, 예민함과 서로 중간을 맞춰주는것같아요 그리고 정경화 선생님의 연주가 완벽하기도 하고요 3악장은 감탄이 안나올수가 없네요 박수치고 갑니다

Among Tennstedt's many gifts was his deft touch accompanying soloists, both instrumental and vocal. I've heard more than a hundred recordings of this piece over the years and never heard the orchestra handled better. Chung played a number of times with him, creating dependably wonderful performances.

Long time ago I went to her concert several times in Korea such as Brhams concerto, Beethoven etc. She was young like this time. Occasionally she performed and collaborated with her younger brother, new born conductor. I was crying while the time on playing.

no, the better version is Karajan with Sophie Mutter, These version playing to hard, tempo tu much, expresion to much. The Version from Karajan is much better, why this is softly ànd the other version is to hard,ok m yuo must listen from Karajan,ok mfg

1997, I went to see her concert in Detroit, Michigan and was introduced to her after her hours of play at back stage. She was rather small frame, but had very strong will-power, passionated with piercing eyes. It’s very memorable encounter and still have a photos with her. Her talent was more valued and appreciated in America and Europe than in Korea. Wish her very healthy and happy New year! 2021. 🙏♥️♥️♥️

To misquote, Truly I tell you no virtuoso is accepted in her own country. It's also true that no virtuoso scorned in her homeland is without honors elsewhere. It's sad. I wonder, is it still true today, with the likes of Kim Bomsori, and all the other wonderful young extremely talented musicians coming onstage from S. Korea?

Actually no, THIS one. This one is the best. I've watched a few top notch renditions of this concerto, but wow! Masterful, absolutely. Virtually flawless, but with loads of expression. A desperately difficult solo violin part made to look easy by a woman who seems pretty much superhuman. I doubt anyone will ever better this. I doff my cap to you, lady. Bravissimo!

Kyung Wha Chung is absolutely fantastic. Certainly one of the greatest violinists ever. I know one rendition of this Beethoven concerto that is even better though: the one by Ginette Neveu under Hans Rosbaud.

Great performance. i was overwhelmed by her performance of Sibelius and Tchaikovsky, and still regard her interpretation above everyone. This is the first time hearing her performance of Beethoven. I am so used to Heifetz' interpretation of this piece, I seldom listen to others' performance to the end. She of course made a colossal difference. Thank you for another grand performance.

이곳은 지방의 중소도시입니다. 이곳 도립 관현악단이 정기 연주회를 통해서 베토벤 전곡 연주중입니다. 3월 공연에서 이곡을 했었어요. 40여년간 여러 거장과 세계적인 오케스트라의 사운드에 익숙해져 있어서 큰 기대는 안했는데... 라이브가 주는 현장의 선율 자체가 주는 감동이 있더라구요. 브라보 베토벤!!! 정경화님의 젊은 시절의 베일 것 같은 연주도 좋지만 세월의 연륜이 쌓인 현재의 연주를 직관한다면... 아... 얼마나 좋을지... 상상만으로도 황홀해지네요. 이런 귀한 자료를 공유해주신 분께 감사드립니다.
