the thing she sang on the first seconds of her performance was the way tribes on the prehispanic philippines sang. so basically, prehispanic filipinos do not do runs as you wish. the way our ancestors sing is like etherial.

I think it’s clear how live it was specially when KZ asked the audience to sing along during the chorus. You can even hear how the sound of the mic faded when she’s pointing the mic to the audience.

In the intro she incorporate a tribal sound a touch of Philippine culture when rajah or datu rule our land which is connected to the title of the song... Royals

It is true. It sounds the same in some points. Philippine tribal music has a bit touch of hispanic type of music. I know cos i came from one of the tribes here in philippines..

La paz Mundial not completely traditional chinese music tho. It has a touch of philippine hispanic tribal music. You cannot relate because you havent heard Philippine cultural music. If you heard one, then you'll agree that it is similar to our tribal music.

That's kz style she added effects , and she added a tribal Philippines rendition at the beginning, shell never take her rendition before , she always make a new arrangement. But its your opinion, our kz is not perfect , all the people are . but for us she delivered perfectly. So sad your reaction you are just like other filipinos are very complaining and not appreciating kzs performance .

No matter how good KZ is, the result is always based on the 500 people who watched it live and graded their performance. There is no permanent judge, so all depends on the music preference of their current audience. The full length version of each episode posted on Singers i believe has the live vocals 😊👍 nice review!

She didn't push it too far because the intro that she did is actually based on Philippines Tribal Music, so it's traditional it's simple no runs and all. Hehe :D but yeah love your idea. :)

It actually reminded me of Juvie Pelos' "Uwahig" during the Blind Auditions of The Voice Philippines. I can understand why Ovela mistook it for Hispanic influence because this actually comes from the Moorish (Arab-Islamic) influence on Spanish music which is a similar influence for a lot of Islamic aspects of Indonesian, Malaysian, and Philippine cultures.

i've never seen such really exquisite show like singer 2018! i just understand now about the compression how they make the sound really perfect, thanks for this video. but they actually turned down the compression during finals... for me this singer 2018 is all about rendition of new songs and old songs/folk songs to make it like there own song based on what they believe and culture they represent. just like what the other chinese singer did, KZ justified what she really wanted to tell not only to the show but to the whole world. she's a singer, she can do whatever she wants . im proud of her!

FYI guys, KZ will sing "See You Again" next Episode 10 as a farewell performance BUT, she's actually going to sing again for Wild Card, so there's still a chance for KZ to reach the Grand Finals!! Let's all hope for it 🙏🙏 Btw, i REALLY REALLY love the reaction part specially those very informative part about the compression part, new knowledge for us! Hahahaha. I'm learning from the both of you. Thank you! I think KZ is awesome and there's no better representative for the Philippines but her. Her versatility and uniqueness, creativity and making a song her own are what stood her apart. The Philippines has so many belters, young and old.. but there's KZ that prove to show that you don't need to belt to impress. She put spice to that show and Filipinos are extremely proud of her.

I personally heard a reliable source that u r right, the production does pitch compression (manipulated) before airing them,So she said the best part to watch is their final songs wherein their voices would be as natural as they will sing them...(April will be the finale)

Some singers needs post production, others don't. The ones that the audience votes to the top each week most certainly has little to none post production because they slayed it already. So, if you are top 3 you are a vocalist that stand on your own feet in the TV production, basically.

I watched the whole episode 9,seriously KZ makes me alive with her performance out of 8 she did so well with all her heart and uniqueness she put Philippine ethnic tribal at the start plus rock,reggae,rap etc.The categories are skills,arrangement,performance i think but how come she ranked at 8?last?are they serious?I don't know what Chinese peepz like about music its predictable.Even JJ got sick being stressed mentally it's like doing your best but they don't like.Well,its enough for KZ she already showcased her ability and uniqueness in singing.

I think Regine wouldn't want Compression because that will counteract Dynamics which she has mastered. Also, I never heard any singer does a 1-note cresendo and/or decresendo as brilliant as she does. 😊

You read it right..on a birthday party! She's a guest there and yeah! She sung flawlessly even in live! No kidding. Really flawless with less of musical instruments or stuff to make her performance smooth and flawless. But hell! Whether you believe it or not.. She sings flawlessly even in live performance. Kudos to kz! So proud of you! All Filipinos are proud of you!

Love your reaction and review! I learned a lot especially about post-production and compression you've talked about. But in all fairness to KZ, I've been watching her since X Factor (on tv or live), I don't remember her messing up a performance due to vocals, pitch problems, etc. She's amazing (for me at least) like that 😂 thank you guys! ❤

Whew... been waiting for you guys for this. This is why I always wanted to see your reaction even if there are already other who did. Another amazing concert performance from kz to the highest level. Great song arrangement she can mess any song and make her owned. Different version of Royals a blend of operatic.rap.rock.reggae and pop. Great transition of the song. Only true artist can do this. Also Good collab with the music director of the show. Kz is dope!

Just sharing somebody's life's teaching:. FAIL - First Attempt In Learning ( KZ gained so much experience here), END - Effort Never Dies (her work, her singing prowess shall be remembered) and the NO here in the contest, mean Next Opportunity for her. That is right MGN, the episodes are post-produce. They record it a week before it's actual airing on TV. Every friday is the time slot of the show. But the episode that will air was a recording from the last friday's recording. They edit the episodes audio and video quality to make it better for airing.. EQ and stuff like that..

The singer 2018 make post production for these episodes but will give a real live performance for the final episode which will give a real vocal status of singers.
