Today I went to downtown Los Angeles close to skid row. It was a huge underpass fire on the weekend that shut down the 10 free indefinitely. Governor Newson mentioned that the fire was arson, and they doing an investigation right now. Homeless in Kent, men’s and many cars completely burnt down. Luckily they don’t have to tear the bridge down. It can be fixed in the next five weeks. The bridge closure causes a huge traffic problem in Los Angeles

i took a greyhound out there in 2006 from delaware and the homeless situation was overwhelming to me ive never seen anything like it... can only imagine how it is now

FYI - The "spokesperson" is the current Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass. For those that don't know, rebuilding both the deck and columns would have taken months instead of weeks.

We just went through this in my city. The government put a bunch of rocks under the highway. It was fixed in 12 days. You are a great reporter.

it's because these people on the street make 'too much' on paper for welfare but not enough to buy a house. it's a sad but common occurrence in this country. i find myself constantly battling off taxes they are always bugging everyone about tax tax tax.. my house is paid off and i almost lost it because of taxes! it shouldn't work that way

Same thing happened in 2007 with a tanker in the bay area. The fire actually collapsed a portion of the interchange leading up to the bay bridge. Was fixed in 66 days.

CC Myers was the construction company that did the repair work. Got a giant bonus for repairing it far ahead of schedule. Also did work on Northridge earthquake.

I remember Philly had the Great Tire Fire of 1996. There were at least 10,000 tires there. The fire weakened 95 substantially - basically melting it from the bottom up. The blaze, which reached eight alarms and burned out of control for five hours.

I was DX'ing AM 1070 KNX from LA when this was happening Saturday. I live in Wisconsin, it was due to a solar storm, but I was thinking to myself the whole time 'I hope GiV is okay and makes a video about it". The news does not let us see the real LA. You do.

Welcome back to Los Angeles! Back in June of 2023, a tanker truck lost control on an interchange of I-95 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. The driver lost control and crashed causing a fire underneath the highway and it was closed "indefinitely" for short while. It took the Pennsylvania DOT just 2 weeks to make temporary repairs. In early November 2023, permanent construction was completed. Perhaps Caltrans can be that quick in repairs to the I-10.

The City did/does not. CalTrans (i.e. the State of California) does. I leased it to a company, and that company illegally subleased it. It was used as storage, for escape rooms and as parking, both over night and as overflow for venues downtown.

The ten is federally funded so when its rebuilt it will be as solid as ever. Its going to be a loooong 5 weeks though, just glad it didn't happen in July when everyone is hot under the collar to begin with. Great content as usual.

More than just one person responsible for this mess. Start with the people that said its ok to rent out space under freeways, bridges and power lines. But hey, with all the money the city has made by renting out space under the freeway, they can afford to pay for all the repairs. Too bad it doesnt pay the public back and the companies that are losing time and money as well. Sorry

Seems to be an issue in California, up here in San Francisco we’ve had fires under overpasses as well, but not to this extent. Definitely happening more frequently.
