Applebee's used to be so good in the early 2000s now it feels like they just gave up. I do love their double crunch bone in wings with honey bbq sauce.
Same fuck that place I had friends who worked their an told me how I shouldn’t eat there one friend said his coworker made a customer a pork chop an customer either tipped or complimented him on how good the pork chop was when he also told me it comes from fridge or freezer an gets microwaved then put grill marks on it that’s fucking disgusting an disgraceful I’ll never eat there plus I can cook so don’t eat out much because of trash establishment’s like that 👍 enjoy eating dog food 😂
as a line cook, the promo I really hated was the fucking boneless wings (aka chicken nuggets) like on my screen, it would be filled with wings non stop & it drives me crazy lol as a customer, I wouldn't mine but working the line, shit vets hectic
@@allymadison8112 I currently work there as a line cook & with the all you can eat campaign, shit really gets hectic & the station I'm at that does the wings, etc would have a full screen (& like maybe half of a another page with orders) & hate that campaign with a passion lol
I will never forget the time when me and my family were at Applebees and the waitress asked us how was the food and my dad dead ass responded “ItS APlebEeS” AND PROCEEDED TO CHUCKLE TO HIMSELF
As someone who worked at an Applebee’s, I can say that the quality of the food can vary, depending on the location. The location I worked at had pretty good food, but we also had good chefs on our team.
Honestly, apple bees quality probably really depends on the place. Went there once somewhere in NM and it was fine, but heard from others it can be horrendous.
The best thing to get a applebees has and always will be there oriental chicken salad, but you can also get it and wrap form, which is what I originally came as and it is amazing. The sauce they put on that stuff is god tier.
That salad was my go-to order until about a year ago. They changed the noodles from the thick, crunchy ones to thin ones that instantly became soggy. I make it at home now.
And fourth option - most popular item. Problem with the most expensive thing concept - probably not many people order it, so the chef doesn't make it often, or the ingredients might not be fresh, etc, etc...
I work there. Here's the thing at my store at least- almost everything is made in house and portioned in house. So alot of the times we are just warming them up to the correct temp. But that's some of the sides. I'm not saying you're wrong but I figured to explain more :)) obviously meat, chicken, and fried items are made as they are ordered
I don’t go to Applebees for steaks, I usually get the burgers, chicken tenders or Quesadillas there But in steakhouses like Texas Roadhouse, Outback and Longhorn I get steaks there and not burgers
I'm a line cook there in the mornings (sometimes at night), whenever the manager isn't around at all, I quickly make myself 4 quesadillas cause I'm always hungry lol
@@MrH.09 as a line cook there, the mozzarella sticks are good when it comes fresh out the fryer (obviously when it's cooled down a bit to eat without burning your mouth lol)
I also work there but as a line cook lol the food I usually get is the southwest chicken bowl, fiesta lime chicken, 3 cheese chicken penne, broccoli chicken alfredo, or any of the burgers the lotta bacon burger we have (basically copied the Wendy's baconator with a few tweaks) is also good also the quesadilla chicken salad we have, literally just copied from Chili's the chicken bacon ranch fries, copied from Charley's Phillysteak (I think, not sure), only difference with ours I just diced up chicken tenders
I currently work there as a line cook (used to be the dishwasher) occasionally the prep person I wouldn't care if we end up like Red Lobster cause my GM is always up my ass annoying me throughout my whole shift he wanted to fire me but yet here I am almost 3 years later lol if I get let go, I'm thinking about going to either Chipotle or Whataburger (or whatever chain restaurant allows OT, doesn't cut hours, etc
@gee4964 lowkey been thinking about applying to Chipotle though but there isn't any close to my house lol the ones that are walking distance is McDonald's, Popeyes, Panda Express, Taco Bell, Whataburger, Peter Piper Pizza, & Walmart but I don't wanna work retail lol
I did the boneless wings before and they shaft you. You get a small plate to start with and then they bring you out a little plate with like 3 of them on it for you to eat. Server takes like 20 mins to come check on you so you get annoyed before you get full.
our town's applebee's is always full but I think it has to do with being able to buy alcoholic drinks with meals. people around here apparently can't eat a meal without alcohol.
the Applebee's I'm at, it's right next to a freeway & between a Tropical Smoothie Cafe & a Village Inn so on busy days (mainly Fridays, Saturdays, & Sundays), the parking lot will be full & sometimes have to park at the other restaurants lol
Applebee's is notorious for having super high amounts of sodium. Im almost positive most of their foods exceed the daily intake of sodium, which is 2,000 mg
I currently work there & can agree with you its also my first job too & my GM is always up my ass no matter what, annoying me, always rushing, etc which raises my anger levels also hate it when it's dead, the other cooks are on their phone doing nothing (mainly either mornings or Tuesday which is the dead day) & the GM doesn't bat an eye but when I do it, I always get caught 🙄 (yes I know we're not supposed to be on our phones but I just wanna chill after making a few orders) next month will be my 3rd year there started off as a dishwasher (hated it so much that I wanted to quit) & went to a line cook and occasionally the prep person (that makes the pico de gallo, etc)
I guess it depends on locations, I live in Puerto Rico and I've eaten at Applebee's in New York too, and fries are pretty decent. I've had that steak and shrimp and I've ordered the steak medium rare and it's juicy and perfectly seasoned. The nearest location where I go with my wife even has a two for $32 permanent offer with good dishes and service is really good, even the manager once that my wife's order took long gave us free deserts for the wait, I don't know if that's common, but it was great service.
cant even cap ive enjoyed applebees more than ive enjoyed chillis the last few times ive been going to both...i usually go for drinks, club 🥪, or the chicken fajita over rice
Applebees is my go to place when I can’t decide. They always have deals. I especially love that every single night from 9-close all appetizers are half price. ❤
Here in Puerto Rico they serve a rack or half rack of baby back ribs, and to me they're better than Chilli's, bone separates from meat and the sauce is good!
Personally when i go I stick to either the bourbon street chicken and shrimp with mushrooms and mash patatos or the bourbon street mushroom burger the burger wont blow you out of the water because the only thing really flavoring it is the brioche breaks and mushroom and the onions but the burger is bland but the chicken and shrimp is really good 10/10 would recommend
Applebees gets trashed on for utilizing microwaves, but they have some really affordable deals... also their woodfire grill steaks imo were always on point.
Applebee's actually used to be better. I remember we had one in Alabama that was super popular and always full of people. After I moved, I came back 12 years later and found it was shut down and I don't know why. I've had othe Applebee's since then but they just got worse over time
The difference is people who work at these establishments don’t make enough money to survive now. So that comes out in their work. This goes all the way up to even the owners of these fucking places times are hard and unfortunately that means a lot of people aren’t gonna try their best.
Well yeah it doesn't take a genius to realize all you can eat wings and shrimp for $15 has a cost. That cost is an inevitable race to the bottom for quality, as the only way this financially makes sense is to get the absolute cheapest quality ingredients and cheapest labor. So yeah, always take "all you can eat for x price" with a massive grain of salt
as an Applebee's line cook, our most "expensive" item is the 12oz ribeye at $22.99 lol I usually just order the usual 3 cheese chicken penne, broccoli chicken alfredo, or the southwest chicken bowl edit: I got let go & no longer work there lol
When I was little, I was OBSESSED with going to Applebee's. My parents didn't really like going there, they were more Chipotle people. However, I'd literally just cry if we went to Chipotle because I hated it there for some reason. And then cry because we didn't go to Applebee's. It was weird, and kinda funny.
Their chicken Alfredo. Awsome. Chicken and shrimp. Awesome. BBQ ribs. Awesome. Strawberry margaritas. Best I've ever had. I go their at least once a week.
My friend worked at Applebee's and he said everything is microwaved. When they ask how you want your steak that means how many minutes they nuke it for. Haven't eaten there since. I can do better at home for less.
The nearly unseasoned fries seems to be a running theme with Applebees. The one in my town is the same. The only thing worthwhile to get are the half-price appetizers.
I never cared much for them. But what I do wish they bring back is Friday's, that's a favorite place of mine. I miss the Cajun chicken & shrimp pasta and the white chocolate cheesecake... Ooh My God absolutely delicious!!!! 🥰🥰🥰
