Pavarotti is always Luciano the immortal!!! Bruscantini simple one the greatest ever... What a voice... What an artist!!! Bruscantini and Cappecci one league of their one!
@loveluciano1 Yes, he was funny in this performance... there is a nnother video of Elixir with Battle and he was not that funny... he was, in fact, a bit serious. May be here he is in good mood!
Adoro “L’Elisir d’amore”!
You really have no idea what you're talking about do you...? The term "Helden tenor" refers to the timbre of the voice. Helden tenors have the darkest, heaviest tone of the tenor voice classification. An example of this would be Jonas Kaufmann. Pavarotti on the other hand has one of the highest lightest tones of the voice classification. So much so that some even regard him to be an alto...
The vocal color does not always denote the fach. Heldentenors have not always been dark, but main aspects are a “steel” quality as well as the tessitura of their voice which tends to be close to a baritone’s which is why many heldentenors were a baritone that changed to the tenor fach.
In response to Magnethanded, it's a small point, but if you watch the video, you see that Dulcamara is putting the coin into his own pocket. I do agree, however, about Pavarotti being a bit too Heroic to be the young, awkward lover.
