After been, for decades, a Guerlain Mitsouko and Vetiver, Samasara, Instant de Guerlain passionate, unfortunately I noticed that these perfumes don't carry anymore that unique light and sensual floral fragrance it use to have and are potential for a much shorter time This fact would come from new regulations imposed by the European common market, forcing very well known houses to reformulate their creations Anyhow, most lovely perfumes nowadays got reformulated and the funny thing is they keep Increase the price on them oh well, thanks 4 a nice review
Great review AC, enjoyed every second of it! I bought mine in the "listerine" bottle as it fits my other Guerlain bottles. However, I do have a sample of the black rim lidge and I don't smell any significant difference. I'm totally with you on this being the last truly great Guerlain, nothing meaningful since then... I also find the patchouli in this very fine, my favorite together with patch in Diptyque Tempo. Btw, just as you described I had the feeling of weak performance first but it's just fine. Excellent work as always, my friend.

I tried at the Guerlain counter in London and maybe my skin chemistry that day... the juice didn't smell right. I am glad you brought by Tempo.. its in my to review list along with Patchouli imperial and Munegu. I will do those shortly :)

Greetings AC! I used to wear this 5 years ago during my uni days on placement and was a hit in posh cougar territory . Unfortunately I can't seem to find the vintage bottles anywhere for a reasonable price.

Well worth it Bob, although could get a bit pricey as it is discontinued now, but the latest version is just too flat mate :(. This is the most balanced avatar of LIDG I think.

This may be one possibility as to why the quality has dropped from Guerlain Paris. In 2010, while being interviewed on a french television program, Jean-Paul Guerlain; the cosmetic company heir and 5th generation master perfumer unfortunately made a racist comment while being interviewed in France, he said " I worked like a n****r. I don't know if n*****r’s have always worked like that, but anyway. " soon after, he was convicted in a Paris court, but was not jailed, though the charge could have carried a sentence of up to six months behind bars. Several anti-racism groups filed legal complaints, and protests were staged in front of the Guerlain store on the Champs-Élysées. Some called for a boycott of Guerlain products. Jean-Paul Guerlain said " "I am from another generation and it was a common expression at the time". The point i am trying to make, is that since Jean-Paul Guerlain, who is a master perfumer 5th generation, distanced himself from his own brand and eventually was let go, the quality and craftsmanship went down the drain, how his protege and new perfumer, Thierry Weiss is in charge of Guerlain Paris. Thierry Weiss does not even come close to Jean-Paul Guerlain, and so that is why i think the house of Guerlain is in a downward spiral. I actually just picked up a vintage 2006 125ml bottle of the EDT for only 125$ yesterday, i also snagged a Thierry Mugler Les Exceptions Cuir Impertinent for only 110$.
AC, fantastic review as usual my friend. I know that you briefly stated to pass on the new version (listerine bottle), but I keep reading reviews stating that it’s the same juice as this bottle you’re holding, just in new packaging. Then there are other people saying it’s been reform’d and bastardized. Have really wanted to pick up this fragrance, but have no idea what information to believe lol. Have you gotten your nose on the new Listerine version? And if so, was it that much more different than the version you have? Your insight would be appreciated. Thank you brotha.
Thank you my friend :)... I also had another one of my subscribers state that he didn't find much of a difference in the new bottles. It could be my skin chemistry the day I tested it in store when it appeared a bit flat and less interesting than what i am used to with LIDG. I would suggest visiting a store and testing it yourself if you already know the smell of the original. Knowing Guerlain they try and keep up with their fragrances and try not to destroy it.

Hi Daniel, this has been discontinued and replaced with a Listerine like bottle. I would suggest you look at ebay. I bought my bottle a while ago on Notino.
I'm looking to get the new L'Instant EDP in the new bottles and I think this review put me over the edge. Is the new one much different mate? I didn't catch if this was an EDT or EDP version.
@@ACSmellsGood I just ordered the 2004 EDT. Let's hope its good. Reviews have been solid but not many identify whether it's EDT or EDP they're reviewing.
