I was drummer for the Easter Monkeys, from Cleveland Ohio, back in 1980-'84, and I am truly amazed at the strength and clarity of Demetra Plakas' style on her kit. I could never dream of having the endurance she has. So clean. I am in awe. Oh, and yeah, been an L7 fan since 'Smell The Magic. What a great band.
Currently we have a rather pseudo debate in Denmark about why we don't listen to female artists on public radio. Well: 1. L7 get no air time. 2. Female artists become singer/songwriters because they have no role models. 3. Their music appeals to very few because everybody else is doing it and doing it badly. 4. Next generation repeat that pattern.Only worse. Because they know no better. I first heard Hungry for Stink in 96 and it absolutely blew my mind. These girls are just so talented. I mean.... Slide guitar in punk.
I frickin love this band! I've been lucky to see them over many different years, and they always DELIVER hard. Such a joy of rock and powerful presence. Love to all the "Square" fans 💚
L7 is so BADASS!!!! THEIR NEW SONGS THEY PLAYED WERE AMAZING!!! IVE SEEN L7 4/5 TIMES THEY PLAYED AT THE COTILLION BALLROOM IN WICHITA KS IN JANUARY OF 97 THEY WERE ON TOUR WITH MARILYN MANSON THAT VENUE ALSO HAPPENED TO BE WHERE I WORKED. I WORKED THAT SHOW AND GOT TO HAVE LUNCH WITH L7 THEY WERE SO CHILL AND THAT SHOW WAS SO GOOD! IT WAS THE ANTICHRIST SUPERSTAR MANSON TOUR WITH L7 OPENING IT WAS TRULY ONE OF MY FAVORITE SHOWS EVER AND IVE BEEN TO HUNDREDS IF NOT A THOUSAND SHOWS!
@@ericmorrison8772 He's not. Kurt idolized L7. Dee is at least as good as Grohl. Suzi is one of the most legendary leads in history. Donita is twice the guitarist Kurt was in terms of complexity and speed of song-building. The only weaker member may be Finch on bass compared to Krist, but she remains the only woman to ever kick Courtney's ass and she did all the PR. But the main consideration, is how quickly a band can throw together an intelligent, complex, yet catchy song and sound tight. L7 can practice for a day for the sound Nirvana had to practice a month for. I love them both and they're both legendary for a reason, but L7 is not one of the "best female bands" in history, they're one of the best bands in history, period, end of story.
@sisterseeth Well said, and I completely agree 100% that they're one of best bands... period. In my opinion, they've been criminally underrated for far too long. IYKYK
