I didn’t see my grandmothers house in Cangrejo. I was living here till I was 8. My grandmother was poor but she didn’t die from lack of live. She was adored this place gave me the values of life. How to love, work hard, dance, I learn Olea as and bombas , I learned to be creative and cook good food. You see poverty I see Beauty and love. Lots of love. ❤❤

La primera vez que veo este lugar, pero he escuchado mucho de La Cantera. Me gustaron ciertas casas más antiguas que vi por ahí. Me trajeron recuerdos.
Yo me arecuerdo cuando chamaquito que la familia de mi papá eran de la Cantera. Eran de la calle de lis Martinez. y despues se fueron pa Tibes. Pero en los tiempos de antes La Cantera era como decir La Perla en San Juan. Ya tu save.. Sitios Calientes Aya Bajo.
Is Tricoche Hospital still there. I was in the ER with my mom when they close the hospital because they were bringing on Correa Coto and the people that lost their life’s. I was 8 yrs old. I lived in Ponce until I was ten. I remembered all this terrible things. I forget lots of of stuff but I cannot forget when the Army marched us kids out of La Baldorioty into our poor homes. I hear shooting we were under the bed. This happened in 1950. The happenings are in my mind cannot get them out. I was scared. I am glad that that everything is all right. I am now 80 yrs old.

La cantera, yo hiba a nadar en un canal, vivi en clausell- nos decian los adultos, cuidado con los tira piedras- todavia tengo la cicatriz de una pedrada que vino del espacio. Vivi en ponce las primeras trece primaveras de mi vida- tiempos felices y orgulloso de ser boricua y de mi ponce querido- gracias por el video.

Como extraño a mi ponce yo soy parte de los tira pierdas de la cantera de ponce vivia serca en residencial tibes bueno el que ponceño de corazón tiene que saber que la mayor cantera de ponce puerto era conocida cómo los tira pierdas y cuando pasaba el río que ahora hay casas donde era el rio en la curva de la cantera llegando la callejón el yeso
Una vez me dieron tremenda pedra mientras regresaba a mi barrio en clausell despues de nadar. Recuerdo ese nombre " los tira piedras" pase tiempos bonitos en ponce. Una vez me dio calambre y me sacaron del rio alli casi ahogado- era chico y me escapaba para ir a nadar en la cantera. Saludos Boricua de Ponce.
En el callejón Sevilla vivía mi familiar. Amador Gonzale Conde. Un señor de una motora. Estoy buscando memorias de mi infancia. Antes muchas casas era de zin y madera. Habían fuegos. Mi mamá decia que había un piromano. No se si eso era verdad. Llegué a ver casas con letrinas (y eso fue para los 80's).
The school I went to La Baldorioty I do not see. Until the fifth grade. I was ten when we moved to NewYork. I went back 1976 the school was there but I don’t see it in this video. I moved in 1951. 1950 Jayuya was burned. Went with my grandma and saw the town in shambles. I never saw a hurricane. Read Matthew 24. I love my land. Will never forget.
No entiendo cómo es que dicen que la gente de caserío son personas de escazos recursos, soy de centro América y las personas que logran vivir en un lugar así de bonito aquí son las que tienen dinero, aquí los pobres no tiene pavimento, las calles son de tierra, no hay grama verde, no hay carros en las casas, no hay edificios bonitos como se ve en ese caserío, ese caserío parece un lugar de Estados Unidos, allí no veo pobreza, si así viven los pobres no me imagino lo bien que viven los ricos

I have a serious question? I have family in a small town Coamo and the streets are narrow like the ones you show. My question is on most utubes of Ponce even in the areas with wider streets there’s no people walking around. Is the time of day, or the heat? I would expect to see more activity. Great Video!!!
Hi Taxi: Alot of times, it's definitely the time of day. This video of Cantera was about 1pm on a Monday. The stores & malls are always busy. You'll see way more people out on the streets on weekends & evenings.
You'll love it! Those bars are a pain in the butt to maintain (sand and paint). I have them on my porch. Please also know that Puerto Rico crime usually just affects the criminals. The bad stuff is usually 💯 drug related.
