My Father told me all about Italian charcoal makers on our farm in Co Wicklw Ireland during the 2nd world war . His description was so similar to this wonderful film . There is such skill attached to this work . It is a joy to see this skill . My Father spoke of when they fired it and how they regulated the air . They had a little hut and they watched it all the time . The process was judged by the amount and colour of the smoke . When the process was finished the smoke turned blue and there was a smell of vinegar .At this moment the air was blocked off and the cooling process began . The timber was got from coppicing which ensured regeneration of growth . All part of traditional sustainable forest management. These were and are great people . Thank you for a great production .
The old man with the blue apron is my great grand father, he died when he was 80 but not because of a respiratory disease. They’re working like this, with no face mask at all because they’ve always done it like this since they were very young, like their forefathers taught them. I read a lot of comments of people judging them because of this, but they grew up in a completely different period of time. They would go out living in the bush for months building their own shelters from scratch, and they could still grow a family and give their kids an education and good values that you no longer have nowadays. So wash your mouth out when you talk about them and their job.
They deserve all the respect and appreciation that they have learned the culture of their ancestors and they are happy with that. They do not care about masks and nothing as much as what is important for them to work and help their family.
Is difficult for some people to Imagine a different Life from this ... they give all for granted... let them buy everithig without know where we come from... Just ignorance

Na Europa ha muito mais leis e restrições que as que temos no Brasil. É por isso que a coisa funciona. Qdo vc deixa tudo livre, sem controle, é aí que nasce o problema. Quanto a bandidagem, não podemos resumir tudo à um único problema. As origens dessa bandidagem vêm de longe, o Brasil infelizmente é o país com maior desigualdade social. Parabéns amigos, vocês são grandes guerreiros, vejo que essa forma de vocês fazerem carvão é muito trabalhoso, só faz quem for acostumado. Tenho alguns amigos que também fazem carvão, porém em fornos de tijolos que são bem mais simples, tiram de 80 a 100 sacas de carvão por fornada. Fica meu Like 👍

Anche io vengo da questa tradizione millenaria,i miei zii e il nonno dubbi tutti morti, per noi era una cosa normale a tal punto che era pesante il lavoro, ora che sono grande dubbi molto triste non aver conservato questa tradizione, mi viene da piangere, io da piccolo lo facevo, ma non mi ricordo i particolari della cottura, mi ricordo che andavano a controllare alla notte, mi sento veramenteb stupido

Mi occupo di ricerche dialettologiche e avevo la necessità d vedere con gli occhi la descrizione delle fasi di lavorazione del carbone e della carbonaia per corredare immagini al testo di una vecchia intervista effettuata negli anni '60 a San Fratello, in prov. di Messina.Con queste immagini, avete colmato alcuni miei dubbi. This perfectly shows the problem is people are too soft these days. They are also brainwashed by the self interested safety industry to think you need to load up on the PPE every time you need to take a shit. I'm sitting here watching these men thinking the old Fella is probably 30 years at least older than me and I bet he could belt the crap out of me because he is a strong man with great fitness and endurance. I'll bet you would have to go to 100 Gyms to find a 20 Something that could work beside and keep up with any of these men just for one day let alone work 6 days a week, 12 hours as they probably do. I'm watching thinking that would be a lot of work trying to do that with my tractor and taking in the tons of wood and soil they are moving by hand. Those are REAL men and it amazes me they are not held in amazement and reverence at what they do. I guess those that would ridicule them are the same ones that have never done a single days hard work and therefore lack the ability to comprehend what these men are doing.
Perdon, no vi la parte donde prende el fuego dentro, en que momento lo hace y como lo hace? Cuando termina la pila, solo muestra que hace un fuego fuera, y luego hoyos por donde sale el humo.
Cdo veiamos el video le comentaba lo mismo a mi esposa.Las brasas de esa candela k vistes se le echan por la parte superior y centro a traves del hueco o cavidad que se deja vacia en el centro desde el comienzo cuando se levanta el horno, , esto enciende el horno como tal hasta k termina de quemar completo despues de varios dias (dá la pata).Cdo vivia en Cuba hice muchisimo carbón de aroma o marabù y ha sido el tiempo de mi vida que más duro he trabajado por eso siento grandisimo respeto por esos hombres de trabajo duro.

Mio Papa ha fatto questo lavoro per di più di 40 anni e non ha usato ne maschera ne casco di protezione e oggi e 78 anni come un ragazzo. Comunque mai ha portato legna su spalle si usano animali, mule di montagne.
