This still sounds as fresh as it did when i got my CD in 98. Time will move forward but this album will always be timeless. The whole album is a MASTERPIECE and should be listened to from beginning to end in its entirety.
@@markfromct2 you know honestly I think of AI as just another tool to make music and same for for computer. There has been some amazing music made using technology. what really bothers me is the laziness of the music companies and a lot of artist that are just looking for a fast dollar. I'm sure out there lurking in the algorithms there are groups like AIR and DAFT PUNK and RADIOHEAD pushing the limits of AI and computers to create amazing music! I never thought id say it but ive also really gotten into country. There is a real movement there to get back to what we call REAL music and just strip down things to their purest form. Don't loose hope music has always had its ups and downs. I look back and my teen and 20s in the mid 90s to the early 2000s and looking back there was a lot of trash people consumed LOL!!!!
Revisting this.. I was a Combat Medic in the British Army. Posted to Bosnia in 1998, I used to put this album on and sit in the medical centre and write my letters home. Moon Safari instantly takes me back there. The one bit of peace and quiet I managed to find..thank you...
One of my favorite all-time jams. This band, especially the entire Moon Safari masterpiece, is just legendary to me. They are kind of unknown from my observations, too, and that's a travesty. I am constantly sharing links to other passionate music friends from moon Safari songs, and almost every time I do the reactions are akin to mine upon discovering their work back in 1998, just blown away and thus instantly becoming huge admirers.
Wow, that was incredible! This is one of my favorite songs of all time, btw! ;-) A lot of the sounds were spot on, they sounded just like the original recording. Loved the bass sound, although it sounds different than the original (i think it misses the specific attack of the original). Check out my all-guitar-cover of Femme d'Argent (here on youtube) if you like! :-)
@@TheMazdamiatamx5 I just know they're coming to Vancouver later this year. Idk anyone in my age group that listens to these guys so probs gon hit concert solo for 1st time
A young woman sent me this and other songs like Portishead in 2004 on a CD she named "Quiet". My heart broke later but the songs remain :) And the memory.
I hope that you found happiness with someone eventually To enjoy this musical journey with Thank you for sharing your story - we all have our respective journey with it’s ups and downs
@@grahamroycroft1376 Oh thanks for your kind words, I am fine but nearing my sixties now :) and I'm singing a little (jazz) myself, so the music remains :) I hope the best for you as well!
So Air did their live anniversary tour of Moon Safari, and for the most part Le Nouvel Orchestre Eletro is much better at playing Air's album than Air is.
I got kind of a funny story about this song. I had a friend that worked in a CD store in the town I live in and I took this to him to play at the Store. He was a little weird with music like me becuase neither of us like the Radio at all. Well took it in the store and put it on the Stereo system they had down there, About three seconds after I pused play a man walked into the store that me or my buddy that worked there ever seen before. He browsed around the store for a bit and then this song was over. My friend then pulled the disc out and he really liked it. The man that came in asked me and my friend what he just heard and I told him La Femme d' Argent by a group called Air French Band. He then told us he was a Magician and he bought a copy and told us both that song would be perfect for his live performance. He bought a copy and left and I never seen him again and I never got his name.
This is not Air (the French Band). It's The Preservation Room Orchestra. This is a good performance of the Air classic, but it's nowhere close to the sexy ethereal glide, the gurgling Korg MS-20 backdrop, and the soaring Moog solo exit of the analogue-driven real thing.
Best live version Ive heard thus far some of the other live versions missing big parts of the songs. The AH's are missing in parts of this version and some key's are off in different parts of the songs but over all I'd say 90% of this song is complete to the recorded version.
Extraordinary - I assisted to many Air’s shows around the world but only yours respect the originaI sound and feeling. I would honestly prefer to assist to your shows than Air’s. I listened to Moon Safari album at least 5000+ times since it launch and you guys deeply understand the concept. Great work ☺️
Justin Meldal-Johnson is the bass writer of this marvelous composition ~ very, very important, nothing to be taken lightly in how amazing this song is. BECK's main bassist for almost 20 years ~ one of the most influential players in rock and roll from the late 90's - currently.
No he's not, you are mistaken. He toured with them as a backing member in 1998, but Nicolas Godin has gone into detail about he came up with the baseline for La Femme D'Argent.
Hi Barbara, this is actually a project called "Moon Safari Live" by Le Nouvel Orchestre Électro who have faithfully recreated Moon Safari so that it can be enjoyed live, whilst sounding as close to the original album as possible.
