@@deliriouswhome1and you can criticize his past 20 years of questionable and bad booking without saying "bUt hE gAvE uS sO mUcH" every time you see a critique. "50/50 booking" became a popular buzz phrase BECAUSE of Vince.
To this day the Max Dupri gimmick made zero sense to me. Because LA Knight was so over in NXT and currently. It was pretty obvious Vince didn’t like him and wanted to try and bury him. Why else would you take one of hottest talents and change their name and gimmick that was working extremely well?
Probably. The age doesn't seem to be really the problem since Aj was the same age when he got to WWE. Granted Aj was considerably bigger than Eli Drake.
@@robertocioffi2523 AJ was the more established name but Eli Drake was pretty well known too. I’d say the biggest difference is Eli Drake/LA Knight needs improvement in the ring as at times his in ring work looks rushed and sloppy. AJ on the other hand is silky smooth.
Always mad resepct to people who go all in on a gimmick they dont like. Reminds me of Cody amd Stardust. When he was on screen you couldnt tell he hated it. Dude gave 100%
@@BabyMaharaja0 pretty much all the interviews he was asked how the character came to be. Vince told him to be a 'gay' character so people would boo him. He was extremely uncomfortable and did not like to do it personally. But went ahead.
@@difference3maker36 Well, thing is he kept that 'gay' part of goldust in early attitude era, post 1999 its heavily toned down and Goldust became more different complex, larger than life character. Which he was able to do. But the point was not that, the point was, Vince was likely trying to hold him back , ergo my point, Vince didnt want the Rhode's sons to succede. Ironic, currently both of them are mega stars of the two most popular promotions.
Let's give him credit for having tried to make it work, to the point Samantha Irvin announces Maxxine Du-PRIIII to this day. He's the true megastar for that.
Yup, Cesaro and Rusev were the worst examples but guys like Keith Lee, LA Knight, Finn Balor, Dominick Dijakovic, Alister Black, Ricochet Nakamura and so many others had a worse version of their characters under Vince’s leadership
@@danlc95 😂 No. Cody is not dropping the title because “danic95” on RU-vid who doesn’t spend money on the product says so. LA Knight will start with the US title first, and then he’ll get his shot at bigger championships, like the world heavyweight championship.
@Jeff_Pryce - Definitely not because "I said so", no. It's because cody rhodes - the character, the boring, weak, pompous, manipulative, crybaby, white bread, vanilla, Captain America casting reject persona is everything the top champ shouldn't be. That's not only my take, but a sentiment that grows as the days pass. It was a mistake, and they'll have to figure it out after the nostalgi-nepotisium wears off for those sad sacks that idolized Dusty to the point they can't be objective about who and what he is, and the limitations therin.
A LOT of WWE Superstars before LA Knight had to go through & make dumbass gimmicks work in order to get to where they are, who they are & to the legendary status they’re at today. LA did the right thing…because at the right time & place the doors would open, like they have, & the fans would be chanting for LA Knight. And it was a smooth & effortless transition. NOW SOMEONE JUST PUT A DANG CHAMPIONSHIP ON HIM!
LA Knight is one of the only wrestlers I've seen in a long time who actually looks like a wrestler, and not some weird angry child who looks like he regularly steals his dad's car keys.
I’ll never understand why Vince would blatantly ruin nxt characters that could make him money on the main roster. I guess because so many left him for Hollywood and other things, he probably doesn’t want them to get to big. Idk.
Vince is a weirdo he has decades of history of burying his own talent just because he wants to. A very weird man from Dusty, Terry Taylor, Bray Wyatt, even the road warriors. Guy stood in his own way numerous times.
It really all boils down to Vince having the behavior of a petty child. In the 80s and early 90s, if a guy went to work for Vince and he had already made a name for himself outside of the WWF, Vince would bury them simply because they weren’t one of his creations. Fast forward to the modern era, and so many wrestlers in WWE were able to get over with the fans. These were people that could’ve drawn money for the company, but if they weren’t one of Vince’s hand picked favorites, he’d bury them almost out of spite, as if he was saying “well I know that the people who spend money on my product really like this particular person, but I don’t think they’re all that great, so I’m gonna prove that the fans are wrong and I’m right”, so since Vince controlled everything in WWE, he’d put that person in a match or a segment just to bury and embarrass them. It was a self fulfilling prophecy. And since Vince was the boss and surrounded himself with yes men and women, there was nobody who could pull him aside and say “Vince what the hell are you doing?! This isn’t good for business”. I’m so glad he’s gone for good, it’s such a better product nowadays
He could've made it work, but I saw it in his face, he look like he wasn't enjoying the character for long, and tbh.... He's more of a fighter than he is a fuckin model... I'm glad LA Knight is where he is right now, YEAH! 🔥
I wish wrestlers would call him “max” like how triple h is called hunter. And he should kayfabe still be Maxine’s brother and fued with gable once gable wins the ic title
Cause he's an adult who realizes Vince is (was) his boss paying him good money to do his job. Crappy ideas or not. Only seems like pro wrestling incel marks don't understand that simple concept. Must be because most of you low lives never had a job or something
It just shows the difference between a professional and someone who thinks they’re better than what they actually are. Look where Sasha is now, wrestling in front of 700 people in a 10,000 seat arena and having a boss that’s a complete goof 🤣
@@arturobolanos2680I was actually thinking of a different quote that I heard from Jim Cornette. I was watching one of his interviews, and Cornette was talking about his time working in WWF creative. Apparently Vince had an idea that Jim either didn’t like or thought didn’t make sense, so Vince pulled him to the side and said “Corny, in this business, sometimes you gotta learn to eat shit and like the taste of it”. That’s what popped into my head when LA Knight was trying to think of the quote that someone told him 🤣
Vince put Dusty Rhodes in polkadots, turned Dustin Rhodes into Goldust and made Cody deal with Stardust. Just that alone is proof that Vince was fucking nuts. He was successful despite himself, the epitome of failing up. A millionaire who should have been a billionaire. CM Punk was right about everything.
I feel like he's going to be used for something big. I don't see Cody's run being all that long because he isn't a believable top champion. I could see Solo taking it, and Knight running with it for a good strong run.
The people at my boarding school war like the Three Stooge Curly, Larry, and mow Miss Francis, Mr. Jones, Mr. n I like the Three Stooges they were annoying, and they treat me like a zoo animals💜💗
Everybody bangs on about the HHH era. But its really just marginally less shite post-Wrestlemania, been really flat after a really great WM40. LA Knight barely gets any time on the mic and is going nowhere still despite being so over with the fans.
Well WWE is competing against other sports(not AEW) and they’re obviously going to lose. So why waste good storylines when it’s not getting as much eyes as during WM season.
@@Black-Circle 1) corny catchphrases make up 40% of wrestling characters brother, 2) He's spit some legitimately fire promos calling out other wrestlers. I feel like saying he just lives off of catchphrases, like say The Rock, is kinda reductive.
Honestly don’t care what happens to Vince , the man’s the devil who would shit on his talents ( no pun intended) just for his entertainment losing money
as low of mcmahon as i think of him, he's sunk to even deeper lows with all this stuff. he didn't do much in wrestling and gets undeserved credit. lucky he was the one in nyc tbh
Vince was guiding the WWE since the late 70s. Claiming that he gets undeserved praise is ignorance at its finest, when the guy literally gave us the best eras in wrestling. Think about your favorite wrestler and Vince was the one behind it. Heck, think about your mount Rushmore of wrestling and Vince was behind every wrestler you put there, so kindly stfu. You new wrestling fans are funny...
@@oldmanjesus9855 you sound like an ignoramus, and someone conditioned to believe whatever mcmahon programs you to believe. i guarantee you're no older than 40
WWE needs more belts cause when u have stars work a title for a freaking year before they lose it, it's insane. Knight will never hold a title with how the system is now.
The need three for the men's division. World "Heavyweight" Championship Intercontinental Championship Tag Team Championship. I could see maybe an Intercontinental tag Championship as well. No need for more.
