I think that's a comment of assuming. It's a behavior problem.. and or it's a drug problem ... yeah lots of homeless do drugs. Still it's not a good idea to assume everyone that's commiting crime on transit is homeless..
Assuming everyone that is on the bus that's causing a problem is homeless is not a good idea. There's behavior problems and there's drugs being part of the problem but you want to assume if someone is homeless they have no whatsoever reason to be on MTA.. yeah there's probably a lot of homeless that no longer have reason to be on MTA because of violent behavior then they belong in jail. Is this caused scape goating perhaps
@@JacquelineIslas-ij2sr I quit riding the metro rail because one out of every two rides we took with my daughter we would have to sit in a hot rail car that wreaked because of one homeless person that would fill the car with the most awful stench you can imagine. Imagine that for a 45 minute ride cause he’s sleeping on the car
@@esporev I kinda understand. There's that 20mta I'd use take at night and it smell soo bad. It's because he/she doesn't want to bathe not just because they are homeless. There are places to take a shower for free I guess this individual never want to take a bath. And sounds they probably haven't in months
Unfortunately, not last week. I saw a man who appeared to be sleeping on the bottom of the stairs with no shoes on at the NOHO station as I was arriving. I informed an Allied Security guard of the man's whereabouts and said he might need assistance. At the very least, he was loitering. The security guard said , "Oh, we checked him already. Thank you." Then why is he still passed out on the stairs looking lifeless? After all the controversy, I was shocked he said that to me so carelessly. I reported it to Metro's customer comment section on their website as soon I as got on the rail. That's unacceptable. It's a hazard to the homeless man and the public. There has to be a no tolerance policy in place in order to keep public transportation safe. Too many security guards and police have no sense of urgency when it comes to public safety.
This is the best pay off I’ve seen between Law Enforcement Agencies. You do not have the right connection made. I’d like to get a connection made in the D.A.’s office.
Those gates are transit's main source of income and the primary barrier to entry. You'd think they'd be the top priority for security. By adding security there, you could reduce it elsewhere since, as you mentioned, most criminals are fare evaders.
She’s wrong and needs to be fired/ removed immediately. Lock up the entire rail system , so no jumps over, make those tap card requires state IDs for distribution. That will not only stop criminals , but also preventing future crime , because every passenger will now be identified forcefully. This is done in Japan, Central America, another parts of the world.
shes right. requiring tap carp users would be a terrible ID ... no city in the US does that as they encourage tourists to use public transpiration. And LA is definitely expecting a ton of folks from all over the world to use public transportation when the Olympics arrive
Requiring an ID to buy TAP is a good idea but hard to implement because now they need to staff the stations with someone to check the ID when people purchase a TAP. Enforcing the law will help a ton because it feels like the police is usually not there when crime happens.
@@Tovarizer u don’t understand I wish I can record while I am driving so you can see plus I really don’t care if they fire me I am humble so I eat beans every day 🤣🤣
Did you just hear the cost prohibitive part ? They can't afford to do that. Also no city in the United States requires an ID to ride public transportation. I'm pretty sure doing so with set Metro up for a huge lawsuit.
This sounds like great progress! They should install the new 7ft Bart fare gates though, they're not impermeable but decently effective at reducing fare evasion.
Mexico's subway system is one of the cleanest and safestest because in addition to police officers at each station, the National Guard has been brought in to support local law enforcement. Additional cost of $0 since they are already on the payroll. Bring in the National Guard to help out!
Yeah they need to get the fares. But they should step up and not be scared and go after the real criminals. Theres no reduction in crime. Why do they even say that.
There has been overall compared to last year. It doesn't mean you can't have intermittent spikes of crime. The important factor is that crime is going down over the longer term.
In 2024, we need a dean of public policy to tell us that fare enforcement is needed on public transport for a law-abiding, safe, and well functioning society? 😂😂
There is one fix that could address the crisis surrounding the unhoused. Most people who are housed do not generally spend their time on the train looking for somewhere safe or something that resembles a home.
Tell me do you just see 30 homeless people in the train sleeping or taking shelter? Or is it really a few sleeping, and the rest just tweaking out smelling terrible being just awful to be around in general and on their journey to the next high oh yeah
@@alexanderthomas9458 There are genuine people who are dealing with crisis surrounding being homeless. What you were speaking to is the drug epic that is hitting the nation. Two completely different topics. The train is heavily impacted by those people who-are unhoused.
Directly advertising law-enforcement limitations surrounding their abilities to issue citation regarding fair evasion was a poor choice. Criminals will eat that alive.
Never talked about contract security: period they should give contracts and law enforcement to Do tap enforcement. They say they care about safety when you don’t have enough transit security. 😢
If you're looking for trouble, you're going to find it and innocent people can get caught in the crossfire. Carrying a weapon in public doesn't make society safer. It's the obscene modern interpretation of the 2nd amendment by a conservative court that is killing us from the inside, just like a cancer. 43,000 people died from gun violence in the USA in 2023 and 76,000 survived gun shots.
All the money spent on police department are waste because we have crimes on daily bases cops should be working long hours for the money they take home to fight crimes they should be doing better job with the kind of money they take.
🇨🇦 You need to come to Toronto Ontario Canada are transit system sucks you should see what goes on over here we have Security that patrols some stations we have people begging for money drink beer on the train and smoking crack in the bus shelters it's really bad we have people that don't pay to come on the ttc it needs new management we had a derailment with one of our other trains we've been waiting on new service repeat getting delays and delays and more delays about the new service😮😢
keep in mind that metro has a ton of money from the covid rescue funds left still. once that that dries out they will face a huge deficit which would force them to lay off hundreds of drivers, operators and security personnel. services are gonna be a lot worse in a year or so
good. metro should have a program for low income ppl to pay a reduced fare as they still gotta get errands done, go to work/school the hospital etc.... otherwise only losers who just wander off and up to no good and bum it all day are the ones complaining about fare enforcement cuz u removing their modus operandi.
I ride the train often and have never had a safety issue or crime committed against me. You will see odd behavior from people, but safety issues are relatively rare. And Public transportation is far safer than driving.
That a shame yo Pookie and Ray Ray re pore good numbers good times and what not come ming from they lines they will just go back to jack king the local Wall Green more often that safer for the boys anyways so
Fired all those security and there private security. They sucks any ways . Too much payment on metro . So many crime happens and police and sheriff department they don’t even do anything on people stealing Phone 📱or money .
