Hey guys and welcome to todays video.. you guys have been asking my thought son La Roche-Posay for some time so I wanted to share it with you in todays video so I would love to know what you think and what products work well for you so leave me a comment below.. Love you all so so much xx
Fantastic video! I love that your vision is to go cruelty free 💗 Thanks for sharing this to people who might not know! Your video quality has come a long way, keep it up - I'm rooting for you 👏
I appreciate so much that you don't impose your ethics on your audience and still make honest recommendations for non-cruelty free products even when you don't use them yourself.
@@LauraDChiong absolutely! It's such a lovely night cream. Quite thick, so probably not good for day wear, but it's a really luxurious face cream. One of my favourite facial moisturisers I've ever used. That said, I'm also moving to cruelty free so unfortunately won't be repurchasing when I run out.
@@jackiereynolds9817 Thankyou, it's Lipikur? I spoke to a lady at look Fantastic who told me about it. Going to order. I always go cruelty free. To good thanks. I use a different one. Does not have as much good ingredients. Appreciate your reply very much 👍 🙏 😊 xxx
I use the hydrating cleanser which is a holy grail for me and my boyfriend !! I tried their lip after you mentioned it, and it’s amazing. I reach for it over my laniege one… I also received two samples of their cicaplast baum after my last purchase so I’m keen to try that out. It is pretty pricey though, especially for drugstore skincare …
I just got cicaplast because I’m starting adapalene and OMG it’s so good! I definitely will be keeping that on hand from now on. I don’t know anything about a 100ml size, the only ones available at Ulta and on Amazon for the US is the 40ml for $15. I would absolutely buy the 100ml. Lol
I can confirm that the 100 ml version is available in Europe. I use it as a nighttime moisturizer because I'm a crazy dry skined person and it's a miracle worker for my skin.
I think Avene have really got better this past couple of years and are rivalling LRP but your right the original LRP products are amazing.. Their serums are awful but think that's the L'Oréal influence.. Love you x
Still love your approach and non-biased and fully independent views. You still are simply you. I’m around since the absolute beginning of your channel and it’s a delight to see you haven’t changed. Unfortunately money stills rules over ethical choices. Basically,…..choosing to test on animals to still be able to gain profits is unforgivable (for me at least). As if L’Oréal isn’t making enough money already 😵💫 The Bettencourt family is one of the wealthiest of this world to date. Besides the animal testing I also can’t live with a company choosing benefits over “giving back” to the planet and their employees etc. etc. Making billions of money in profit while at the same time leaving the ones that make that possible (i.e. the employees) at the bottom of the food chain is mildly said not ethical by any means. Keep up the good work.
Sooooooo many great L. Posay products have been a staple in my skincare for over a decade. ♥️ However, always in for the new insights 🙌 Wow, do the prices vary from a country to a country in Europe, not to mention US. Agreed on the serums mentioned. The only one using is Hyalu B. Personally do not mind fragrance in skin care. This one is absolutely expert formulated. It's packed with benefetial ingredients, parfume being the last one. And yes! If you've proved and tested for decades a product that is definitely top notch, it is about time to stop testing it on animals. 🙌p.s. though, Eucerin has stepped up their 'game' I must say
I love LRP, especially the cleansers and moisturizers. They always used to be fragrance free which I like, although I haven’t tried any of their serums. You can also buy them online from one company which has a third off their prices quite often, which is handy for stocking up.
Like you Rob, I only use cruelty free products so don’t use LRP. Really hoping they will take that important step fully soon. If they do, I will be in line for some of their great products.
I used to love the facial fluid, but then started breaking out like there's no tomorrow. I will still use the invisible spray for my body, as well as use it on my kid. It's not sticky and not perfumed, so I quite enjoy it.
Eucerin oil control sunscreen is comparable, easier to apply and between £5-10 cheaper depending where you get it. I used to love LRP but I really wanted a cheaper one and the eucerin one is amazing (only flaw is the chemical smell lingers a little longer than LRP)
I use this brand all the time. But I totally agree with you regarding the serums. When I saw the vitamin C serum in a clear bottle dyed arms, I couldn’t believe it. It goes against all the things they tell you about storage of vitamin C. But I totally agree with you regarding the cicabaum And most of their face moisturizers and the vitamin a retinol eye cream. Gamechangers
This what an honest and jnteligent review is 👌 I enjoyed the video very much.I buy only Anthelios UV 400 regulary as it's perfect for my oily acne prone skin but the whole rest is highly overrated to me 🤷
I know that you’re not a big fan of Cerave, but I’d love to hear your thoughts on their acne line which recently launched in Boots. I’m especially intrigued by their retinol serum which, in my opinion, is relatively affordable given its ingredients.
So much info from your videos. I tried LRP Toleraine Purifying Foaming Cleanser and it was just to harsh for my sesnsitive combo more oily in summer skin. I think it was that darn Niaminacide again. I also tried their Double Reapair AM and PM moisturizers but found them too heavy for my skin. It's hard to find skincare that works for sensitive combo/oil skin. I like Cetaphil cleanser, but hate the fragrance! When you are marketing to sensive skin I don't get adding irritating fragrance. I love your honest opinions and all the research you do. Keep it up. Be well!
For what they charge for their more expensive higher end SPF facial lotions, they should have ones that don’t irritate the eyes. Even their new 400 product irritates the eyes! A great product I can’t even use on my face now.
Hi hun, I am not a fan of them because of the price point and the marketing claims they make.. have you been seeing good results with their products? love xx
@@MadAboutSkin i know it’s not a very affordable brand, but their immediate result is pretty good, I’m obsessed with the Rose gold (brightening) and sun-zero (depuffing) face masks, you can rly see immediate results, but it’s not very economically sustainable for me … since I’m only 25, i don’t see a whole lot of results from their black diamond line
I have yet to try anything from LRP... if they stopped all animal testing, I'd be more interested, especially in their cleansers. Those cleansers are a REALLY good deal!! China's stance on animal abuse, animal testing, and supporting the EXTREMELY cruel, disgusting, nasty dog and cat meat and fur markets are consistently beyond disappointing. All of these issues NEED to change.
I didn’t realize they are not cruelty free. I love some of their products but now I will have to think twice thanks to this video. I don’t understand why they cannot be cruelty free! 😡
@@msk-qp6fn you need to do more research... for one thing they DO steal pets. Another there is not a single law in China concerning animal abuse. People horrifically abuse animals in the middle of the street, on video, etc and there is nothing done about it... on top of that, there is nothing culturally relevant or important about it. It is not needed, nor due to lack of resources and food, and is a massive issue all around. No problem with boiling and skinning animals alive, horrendous treatment, VERY ill animals that present huge health issues (just like the wet markets)... in the future perhaps don't make a comment like this without actually researching what is going on.
@@doanphuong1325 I don't either. We just no longer need to test anything cosmetic on animals anymore. I understand Rob's stance about the brand just going along with no animal testing for financial reasons, but I must confess that at this point, I'm just so happy when a company halts all animal testing that I don't really care about their motives for now. Tbh, I just want them to stop! Geez, companies can harvest snail mucin without being cruel. We sure don't need Puppies and such being bred just to suffer through their entire, short lives. 😥 It is a bummer too since many of their established products seem really nice, like their adapalene formulations.
I am so pissed at LRP for their dicking around on the cruelty free status I have their Cicaplast balm and the AP lipakar lotion and cleanser which I use in winter months these really help in winter here but I need to look for some dupes as I don't like using products tested on animals if I can avoid it. Please keep us updated on their status
I love that brand. They have saved my skin. Cicaplast balm is the amazing. Their sensitive skin moisturizer helps when I have tretinon outbreak. Their cleanser is amazing. Love their sunscreen. In Canada cancer society thumbs up to them.
@@MadAboutSkin You are fabulous. So sincere wish you were out of Canada. Have you ever tried Neutrogena?? I am telling you I am 53 and it has made a huge change. I changed my skincare last November.
I have to say that I've had mostly negative experiences with LRP products, which is odd considering I do not have sensitive skin and very rarely get any sort of negative reaction to skincare. I find it questionable that, being a "pharmacy" brand, some of their products are so strongly fragranced you might as well be rubbing perfume on your face (I think the worst one I've tried is the B5 ampoule). The Anthelios sunscreen was another big disappointment as it BURNS my face like no other sunscreen I've ever tried - I do get a bit of a tingle with some chemical sunscreens but Anthelios is painful, it's like rubbing my face with sandpaper. However, I agree with your opinion on the Cicaplast Baume, I've been using it for years and the stuff is amazing!
Thanks for the review, personally I love La Roche. And this is interesting what you say about the size of Cicaplast. I Poland you can buy them in 40ml size. There is even smaller size 25ml I think. :)
They still sell the 40ml of the Cicaplast Balm in Target here in the US! I just bought it two weeks ago for $14.99… that’s crazy they only sell the 100ml there in the UK!
I know what the science says about niacinamide concentration, but my skin flourishes with a 10% serum (haven't tried the LRP one and don't plan to, though...I'm glad to see my suspicions about their serums validated).
Loreal has a good taste in the brands they eat up, I have to give them that. They bought LRP, Vichy, Garnier, CeraVe, Body Shop, SkinCeuticals, Khiels, Biotherm, Youth to the People, etc. Whether they do a good job in keeping said brands is a different matter, though (looking at what they did to Body Shop for example). I haven't got much against Loreal and their brands, but I have been trying to use less of Loreal's products. It's why I have been hoarding Avene Intense Protect whenever I see them, using Bepanthen instead of Cicaplast, and trying out Mustela and Uriage and other local brands and lesser known k-beauty brands.
Interesting points with the increased price points and sizes in the U.K… I do however think the pricing and also the sizes available vary a quite a bit from country to country. In my country in Northern Europe you have to search hard to find the Cicaplast 100 ml in any pharmacy as they all mostly offer the 40 ml and the 100 ml only on occasion. Whereas in France you can readily get both pretty much always. In my country you also cannot find some of their products as the lineup offered here is somewhat decreased. Price wise La Roche Posay is always substantially cheaper to buy from France and French or Spanish online pharmacies, that luckily get more and more available these days. It is sometimes a price difference of almost 50% compared to the prices where I live which is pretty outrageous when you think about it. But to be fair this does not seem to have anything to do with La Roche Posay as a brand but as a whole when it comes to the French pharma brands like Avène, Bioderma and it’s likes as well as other typically French brands that are also often sold in French pharmacies like Vichy, Darphine and so on… So these days I only buy these brands from French or Spanish online retailers as that saves so much money despite the increase in all over environment impact as of course it would be better if the brands made sure prices were kept low in all markets to prevent people from buying too much overseas. But when push comes to shove, just like with the animal testing for the Chinese market the environment does not mean much for the market-consumerism driven people…😘
La Roche Posay is actually cruelty free because Loreal uses a technology called Episkin. You can look it up if you'd like but China uses it as of 2024. So as far as cruelty free goes Loreal sunscreens in China if tested would be used in this technology now.
Hey, Rob have you heard of, Peach Slices Acne Exfoliating Toner , can definitely be a DUPE for Paula's choice 2% , introduced by Dr. Dray... At $10.99. Sounds like a, DING.. DING..DING!🔔🎶
The Obama administration passed laws which would speed up the approval of new generation filters and the FDA just ignored it and stuck to the old ways so they are the issue not the government and I dont think they will be changing any time soon.
Rob ❤ could you recommend cruelty free alternatives to LRP Effaclar Duo Plus and Effaclar Duo Plus Unifiant? ❤❤❤ I found these to be helpful for decades old PIE scars on my back. I would prefer supporting cruelty free. PS: Lidl sun cream spf50 for kids is wayyyyy better for oily skin than sny of the La Roche!
Is their Vit C really that bad 😬 I've had it in my mini fridge (with my other vitamin c serums) for a couple months now. It was next on my list to use. I hope it's not super fragranced. I can handle a little fragrance but not too much as long as it works!
Its not great so I would return it if you can but if not then its worth trying.. it is a little on the drying side so maybe moisturiser more after using it. love you x
@@MadAboutSkin I got it at a huge sale price ($5) so I can't return it. I'm big on hydrating and moisturizering so I'll just make sure to replenish. Stratia liquid gold should even it out!
I hate that I REALLY like one of their US formulated sunscreens bc it's one of the few US sunscreens that doesnt sting my eyes but LRP products are stupidly expensive here in the states 😩
I have been pretty disappointed with the LRP products I’ve tried (here in the US), to be totally honest. I do like their Lipikar cream for the body and face (I like it for the body), but they’ve now reformulated it, and it no longer has the texture and feel that I enjoyed so much. I’ve also tried the Cicaplast balm and found that, somehow, my skin feels drier the next day than if I didn’t use it at all. It’s also been too heavy on my now rosacea-prone skin that needs moisture and occlusivity but can’t handle anything that feels smothering. I tried a few things in their ultra sensitive line but found them to be pitiful for dry skin. Not irritating, but basic as can be and nowhere near as moisturizing as I need. I’ve also tried the US version of their mineral SPF fluid, and I couldn’t believe how much I hated it. It’s oil-free, but it’s got so much silicone that I felt like a grease slick by the time I had applied the recommended amount. Then I had silicone in my eyes all day-no thanks. Just this morning I tried their Anthelios UVMune 400 SPF 50+ hydrating cream that I ordered from Europe. I put it on my neck because I wasn’t sure if my face would be sensitive to it. The texture felt nice, but gawd it smells bad. It’s that classic sunscreen smell, and it’s not super strong, but I HATE that smell and can’t stand the way it lingers on my skin all day.
Your skin will feel drier the next day with Cicaplast. Its full of zinc. I live in Europe and its used for cuts and burns to promote healing. Or if you've over exfoliated. It's more for compromised skin. Avene is much better over all anyway. The LRP in the USA is totally different than it is here.
I have tried the cica cream & wasn’t impressed with it. There’re so many Korean cica cream, such as from A’PIEU, COSRX, Dr Jart+, Skin1004 & Etude House etc.
I agree, with the exception of their Cicaplast balm. That stuff is magic on my sensitive skin and calms it better than any Korean cica products I've tried. But I still love my Korean skincare! 👍
I used to use their effaclar k cream since I was a teenager but they changed formula (I think). I love cicaplast range, especially hand cream in winter. Love their spf but not all of them. As a long time user I feel like they’re adding fragrance to products and not perfecting the formulas.
That would be amazing if they could really become Cruelty Free... I miss them so much. The toleraine cleanser and that b5 baum 😥 I hate how they are beating around the bush and won't get with the times...
I saw a video where they have two versions of the b5 cream the thick one they sell here in the USA and another one that is more like a cream gel I believe
Hey Rob 🫶 I loved this video. Recently, I have been interested in the La Roche-Posay Lipikar Wash. Have any of you guys tried it before? If so, what are your thoughts? - XOXO, Kendall Hailey
I have eczema and have tried the baby Lipikar wash. It's fine and despite the small amount of fragrance didn't bother my body skin. I prefer the Avene oil shower product or the Uriage version - both are fragrance free, but the bioderma version also has a little fragrance. I hope that helps. The Lipikar lotion is excellent however.
i would Really appreciate your advice on getting rid of darker face skin due to inflammation flare up..i am using stetoid cream as my derm prescription but i need something ti use to lighten up my skin when i recover. thanks
Love there 10% intensive vitamin c serum/cream and there 💋 lip cica balm is the best iv used my lips could be so dry and by the next day all good with this brand .used to use there sunscreen but have found a better one here in Australia that even lighter 😉
i used to like this brand when they used aluminum tubes. ugh to their switch to plastic packaging, not only because of the exacerbation of the plastic pollution crisis, but also because of inferiority of plastic. the aluminum tubes exclude the infiltration of air as the product is squeezed out; not so with plastic tubes. it's nonsense to replace functional, recyclable packaging with crappy, unrecyclable, polluting plastic.
HELP! for some reason I can no longer see your FaceBook page, it looks like I have been deleted - if so can you tell me why? I don't think I've done anything wrong as far as I'm aware!
Thanks for another good video. I love the Lipikar and cicaplast series from LRP. The cicaplast lip balm has played a major role in my skin care during the winter, and the Lipikar Balm AP+M has worked wonders on my dry legs. however, my cat loves it too, so I have to keep her out of the bathroom when I apply it, or else she just starts licking my shins... My holy grail sunscreen, and the one that really got me to wear sunscreen daily, is the Anthelios Anti Age SPF 50. It sinks in beautifully, it gives a natural glow, it doesn't pill, and it has shea butter that gives that silky moisturising effect. No, I'm not sponsored, but, you know, if they offered...
Thanks for the video, Rob 🤗 I have to say, I'm a die hard convert to LA Roche-Posay. Their purifying foaming cleanser (holy grail for oily skin) and their Toleriane Double Repair Moisturizer are sublime. I've also tried their Glycolic B5 and while it smells awful, it's very effective for hyperpigmentation.
Thank you so so much for bringing up the cruelty free factor! I follow a lot of dermatologists here on RU-vid, and they all love The La Roche-Posay lipikar series, but NONE of them talk about the fact that the brand do test on animals. In fact many of the brands they recommend are not cruelty free. As you said, animal testing means unnecessary suffering. And if big brands like L'Oreal would pull their products from China as long as animal testing is required, it might push the chinese authorities towards a change in regulations.
LRP is one of the best brands for me on the market. Their sunscreens are incredible and the invisible fluid rocked my whole world. I also like their products for dry and sensitive skin. I think the cons that you pointed out, actually apply to most of the brands on the market. Formulation is something that every individual should be mindful, because everyone has different issues and sensitivities/triggers. I agree with your opinion about the serums. They are ridiculously overpriced but I don’t have a problem with the price of their other products, because they get the job done and are easily accessible. Thank you for this video!
loved the video, rob! personally, I think that that it´s kind of outdated when a brand isn't putting much effort in becoming cruelty free, especially if said brand is as popular as LRP.
@@SandiTink Maybe you could try Mustela's vitamin barrier cream??? It is a nappy cream but I find it very moisturizing and soothing when I have irritations. I do think Mustela does not test on animals and uses plant derived ingredients.
In fact, what you are telling us is that La Roche Posay has been ruined by Loreal. It is hardly surprising. It used to be a good solid brand prescribed by dermatologists in France. They did not have serums and things like that in their range. It is probably the Loreal effect! Very disappointing that Loreal feel obliged to buy and destroy everyting. I use the sunscreen and if I buy another product it will only be a moisturising cream or something solid and basic.
I doubt it. In France, LRP is still prescribed by dermatologists (their classic products). I would think they would want to maintain their reputation. The serums are probably to keep with the trends and make money. I might be wrong of course!
The cicaplast is awesome and I have oily skin. It takes a lot for me to actually use a product like that. I like the Effaclar line for acne too. And the tinted mineral spf. I’m a fan.
It was an incredible video... I love LRP spf for me because it's easy to get and at a good price. Let's be honest, they have amazing products except for the serums, which I don't understand why they're so expensive when there are so many amazing serums out there for half the price or less and the curlety free thing little bit cold as you mentioned May ask a question What are your thoughts on Vichy?
Vichy is a sister brand of LRP and have similar products, except for the serums which are unique to it. My quarrel with these two brands is again the L'Oréal effect: L'Oréal just feels the need to mess up with most brands they acquire!
My only gripe with the brand is that I keep hearing "Posey" as "Poosay" 😹 Jokes aside, I agree about the serums being kinda useless and the pricing as well. Luckily in my country we still carry the 15 and 40ml Cicaplast balm, but I don't what I'd do with a 100ml since I barely get through the 40ml one because it's so thick and emergency only :(
Hello from Canada. I do like The HayluB5 serum, the Toleraine cream with spf and my favourite is their tinted mineral spf for face. I have to say that this creamy rich formula replaced completely any need for foundation for me. I literally have women stoping me and asking what I use on my face.
I really do like their products but, they're substantially more expensive in the United States. When I order from Europe it's still cheaper than buying here, even with the cost of shipping. Also, I WISH we had the 100ML CicaPlast here! It's the opposite here, they discontinued the large size and kept the small size lol. I've found that Soonjung 2x Barrier Intense Cream is a good dupe.
Really disappointed about the cruelty free status, I was waiting for an update on this as I really wanted to try the sunscreen but definitely won’t be Thanks Rob :)
I have discovered this brand for myself quite recently. I used to use Loreal and other most popular brands for men. My skin was always dry, had a lot of breakouts and blackheads. LRP is an amazing brand, I started to see results in few days, even my colleagues started to compliment me. I am almost 40 years old man, and I am very grateful to people like you, who spread awareness and reviews brands which actually work.
Happy Thursday Cristina.. you know I love the Baume and the sunscreens but I think this brand needs to change a few things.. I hope your having the most wonderful Thursday and week in general... love you xxxxxx
Personally the products are a bit meh for me. The Sports sunscreen applies like wall paste. The foaming cleanser is only so-so. I would rather go for the sister brand, Vichy. The texture is just more elegant. If I want a nice occlusive moisturiser that does it all I will go for Aveeno. So much cheaper gm for gm and lasts and lasts.
Indeed as a French, I was used to see this brand around for decades. I was wondering about their new found fame the past year or so when actually it was always a low key, niche brand. Now I know why: it's been bought by cosmetic mastodon L'Oréal! This explains why we see it everywhere. Good marketing. The prices though😱😱😱😱
@@emilywood6830 probably... I don't use Tiktok so I wouldn't know... But I am sure L'Oréal would know how to use this platform to their advantage for their marketing...
@@emmaphilo4049 I don't use Tik Tok either, but I've been told it's the reason a lot of products go viral and everyone suddenly clamours to get their hands on it. I went out to purchase The Ordinary's new lash serum in store, but the lady told me it sold out quickly because it went viral on Tik Tok. 🙄😐😅
Thanks so much for the video👍🏻I didn’t know they are not cruelty free…uhmm I have been using their Toleriane cleanser for years but I will stop and look for another one that is actually cruelty free😁
Hi Rob this brand has some excellent products for truly sensitive and atopic skin and a lot of staples in my routine are from French pharmacy brands, for that reason. Their baby cicaplast and lipikar balms are products I'm never without. I like some of the cleansers, but prefer the Avene cleansers for my own skin. As far as "cruelty free" all European brands do not themselves test on animals and I refuse to let China's practices dictate my buying decisions. China is completely disinterested in what the rest of the world thinks of them and have a very different cultural take on animal cruelty, which is far more than just the testing of cosmetics practices. French pharmacy brands often have ranges that are targeted at specific skin concerns eg acne, eczema, rosacea etc and for those of us affected by these conditions, are often some of the best products on the market for alleviating or minimising these concerns. They have many gentle and effective products with minimal INCI lists, that truly don't aggravate some of these concern also. They're readily accessible to many people in a variety of countries, without the hassle of online ordering from a different country too. There is a reason why I continue to buy from these brands - it's because many of the products work for me and there are so many products on the market that don't. I have both rosacea and eczema, as well as super dry menopausal skin - all of this makes it a nightmare to find products that just work on my skin. It really does limit the brands and products I can use without irritating my skin and no brand from cosmetic giants is going to be without faults. Best wishes.
@@AllysonRiley-d4k they do not test on animals during the manufacture of their products. The controversy is about after market testing by China. In order to sell in China products not made there are subject to random testing including testing cosmetics on animals. LRP does not do testing themselves but they know China has this practice and continue to supply them with product. This is the current situation around being cruelty free. Animal testing has been banned in Europe for a long time so no product made here is tested on animals before you use it. The only issue is China continuing to test after manufacture. I hope that clarifies x
