Hello and welcome back to another lab vlog!
This week in the lab I am running another bioassay to test the effects of a previously used antifouling agent against the biofilm formation of my bacteria, I introduce you to the Erasmus student I am supervising, Axel, and I let you follow me around the lab whilst I carry out experiments!

As a PhD candidate in computational biochemist that also works with biofilm-related stuff (mostly quorum-sensing inhibition) I loooove your vlogues, they make me nostalgic for the lab but also confirm I should not go back ahah thanks for the inspo!

@@drjessicagomezb I did my master's thesis in virtual screening to find biofilm formation inhibitors in Pseudomonas aeruginosa! Loads of Molecular Dynamics, Docking, Quantum simulations etc. I am too clumsy for the wet lab ahah thanks for asking!

I love this vlog. And it's fun to see a German student in your lab. I will be in the lab tomorrow (for a 4 h practical). I'm really excited and nervous because it's my first lab practical since Corona started. But your vlogs are a great motivation😊 Greetings from Germany

Hey Jessica! Great vlog as always and I see the crispness of that picture quality! Question! Why do you add the Tri-butyl tin/MeOH to your cultures? Like does it have a purpose?

Hi Oin, thank you!! The tri butyl tin was supposed to act as a positive control for my bioassay but my bacteria didn’t act as I expected them to 😅

And do not worry about experiments not going as expected because that’s the default and if they do act as expected that’s an anomaly.
