As a DJ who loves the 70's, I have never heard this song before This Is Us. What a shame because from the first 30 seconds, I knew this was a huge hit ... just not one that made it to the top. Labi has a timeless mystical song in Watch Me. I am truly thrilled to hear an old song that is a new song to me, especially one so beautiful. The magic of music is being able to listen to that one song that moves you over and over again. Thank you Labi. I discovered through TV a gem.
Yeah it's higher pitched and cuts through the mix, but very powerful. It's like powerful and soothing at the same time. The sound of a man extremely confident in his softness.
I recognized the song when I heard it on that show, but had to do a search to see where I’d heard it before. Turns out that Greta Van Fleet performed this song in concert a couple years ago! It was really good!
Pamela Miller Heard this at the end of a recent episode of "This US Us" and Shazamed it three times because I couldn't believe my eyes! So few blacks play folk music anymore! "Crossroads" came to mind, but the chord progression also reminds me a lot of "Make It With You" by Bread. I think they sound so similar because that was the sound that was "in" at the time.
Just heard this on ‘true love ‘ tv series at the christening and why have I never heard this before ? It’s magical and instantly calms me - beautiful ❤❤
Omgoodness, same here! I knew it had to be the band, YES, as well! That singers voice is rare. I searched and couldn't understand why I couldn't find it. But now I know the reason why. Lol
The most beautiful song none of us had ever heard until this week. Thank you This Is Us! Digging into this incredible artist's body of work and blown away. 🖤
I just Shazamed this song. I loved the sound; heard it on the Netflix show Behind Her Eyes just a few minutes ago. I had never heard of Labi Siffre before. Should have been surprised but not to see Msdreamscaper here.😊😀
Thank you Greta Van Fleet for introducing me to this awsome talent. I have no idea how this slipped past this 58 yr. old but it took a group of 19 and 20 year olds to shine the light.
I don't know Darrel if he were still alive Frank Sinatra would have to disagree with you and say it was Something from the Beatles written by George Harrison.
WOW, huge 70 folk music fan. How did I miss this one. I know I would have never taken this out of my music collection. Fantastic song. NBC, congratulation on finding a winning song for a winning show. "This is US!". In a world of so much misunderstanding, about time someone found some good in people like you and me.' If you missed NBC "This is US" your not on planet earth.
I was a boy in the 70s, but never heard this song at all until now, and yet it reminds me of the kinds of songs I heard on the radio in the mornings while getting ready for school in those days.
The song is so beautiful it brings tears to my eyes and I'm not ashamed! I dedicate this to a very special lady that I love and care for very very much❤❤❤
This song is so pure and so joyful and so beautiful. It’s no wonder to me that Greta van fleet and did a cover of it. They are The only current band I can think of that would be moved by such a song and do it such sweet justice. I love when I hear the crowd singing along to a song that never got the recognition it deserved when it was first released
I was recently at a wedding where one of the grooms, a talented musician, sang this to the other one at the reception. I had never heard the song before, but it was one of the most beautiful moments I've ever experienced. What a gem of a tune. I've been replaying it since.
I had the pleasure of meeting Labi in London around 15 years ago. Labi was a judge in the final of a song contest in which a song I had written was selected. Although my song didn't actually win, Labi did make very favourable comments about it and he give me some very helpful advice. Labi is certainly very knowledgeable in many styles of music and a really nice guy too.
Labi Siffre was big in the UK but was still so underrated by everybody. I bought all of his singles and albums back in the day, and his stuff should all be re-released for everybody to enjoy. Great singer, great songwriter.
Greta Van Fleet brought me here. What a beautiful song. I’m being influence by a young rock and roll band that is turning me on too “new old” music!! Love it!!
A recent BBC profile about Labi explained much of his life and music, he gave up music several times, when he wrote "Something inside So Strong" which seems to have been one of those songs that write themselves, he wasn't planning to record it, but when he played it to somebody thinking someone else would take up the song they told him YOU have to record it, Good news is he's writing new songs, he performed one new song and some old songs, and at the end of the show he was asked if he would like to perform again, he thought yeah maybe he would.
Wow, I'm also from the 70's and only heard this song on Netflix. "Beyond Her Eyes" is a fantastically entertaining series. And this song is unbelievable! Can't believe it took nearly 50 years to surface! Originally thought it was sung by YES. I'm so joyed to have discovered it, thx!
I also searched this song while watching "This is Us". How did I not know about this sweet, sweet song?? I've been playing it all week. Thanks for your beautiful voice Labi! I hope that show revives your career and we can hear more form you!
Watch me when you call my name See me sparkle, see me flame Singing a song, playing a game Oh, I'm so glad you came Watch me when you look my way See me smiling, be my night and day Touch me in your own sweet way Feel me tremble if you take my words away All of the time I love you Make you a rhyme, I love you Say it in mine Watch me when I'm on my own See me falling like the snow Come and be the things you are I am still falling, but not quite so far
@@mattryan5706 I had no idea of or interest in his sexuality back then or now but I always loved these early songs of his. I was about 14 then. Music is music.
love this song. if you love somebody send them this song the lyrics just scream out love. thanks to the show "this is us." great show watched it 5 times in a row because it is good and because of this song . " watch me."
WHO FOUND THIS SONG FROM GRETA VAN FLEET. I love finding music through new renditions. I never would’ve found this beautiful song if it wasn’t for Greta
Growing up in the 70's I don't know how I never heard this till I watched the movie Behind her Eyes This should have been a hit I'll enjoy it now his voice is so beautiful ❤
Just the loveliest song - I am a seventies girl and remember all his songs with great joy - they bring out the best in my heart and make me sing with a smile - bless you Labi.
'Crying, Laughing, Loving, Lying' was the first album I ever bought (1972). Sad that he has renounced all his singing/songwriting, and said he will never perform again.
They're using this song in a commercial for Munchkin clothing now and this playing over the images of the little kids at play makes me cry. Such a beautiful song for something so simple as children's play clothes.
Chibihalo2 I just saw this commercial 5 minutes ago and i had to come on google to see who is singing this song. It is fabulous. I am sure that i heard it on the radio long ago or something similar to it.
That’s how I feel about my wife we were high school sweethearts and are still going strong every word of that hits me hard I just happened soon this it’s gotta be one of the best songs I’ve ever heard
This is soooooo beautiful. How did I miss this one! I do not think I’ve heard this old song before, but this song transports me back to my childhood. I am reminded of Jon Denver, Van Morrison, the mystic feel, is just so beautiful to hear, must keep this one close!
Just heard this song on the downstairs commercial by Munchkins.....took my mind right away to "Sweet Melissa" by the Allman Brothers...and some Bread songs too....definitely 1970's. Can't believe I never heard this song or artist.
Mum played this whilst I was growing up too..I still own the original vinyl album she played.. I will always be grateful for the music she opened my life to . RIP mum 2018v😊
