The drummer in the red shirt is one of my college professors. No joke, he's genuinely the most down to earth person, and he teaches hand drumming. And yes, he can still play this song. He just does it on the hand drum now instead of a drum set.
They better have 20 different endings in the new Life is Strange remastered. Max and Chloe will return in 2021. hmmmm tell you to ruuuuuun, I would like to hold my 'Max'
@@vonn4017 Some of the best bands in the world aren't pop bands, don't hate because your only idea of music is what fits into the 3 min time slot on the radio, pop is shallow and insincere, this band still plays shows across the globe, there's more to music than charted songs.
@@dinglerdangler yessssssssssssss great minds think alike bro that's what I see right here, I swear to god I found out what this song was like 3 days ago I've listened to it like 50 times so far and still counting it his me in the nostalgia feels so hard haah
@@kalebvaldez2404 Yes! I have listened to this song for years. It wasn't until I read the captions that I learned the words. (I sang along anyway, haha)
I cry every time I hear this song, it has such an emotional impact on me, I just can't explain. I feel free, relieved, I feel like everything is going to be fine - no matter what. It is my hope.
When was that? When Edison was spinning wax cylinders? 45 rpm singles are older than most people alive at this point. And there were cassingles in the 80's and cd singles in the 90's.
They were a live band for sure and as a result always better live than in the studio. They opened for the Grateful Dead at one point, which you don't do unless you have the live chops.
A friend of mine who has passed away turned me on to these guys but first THIS song. Ill ALWAYS think of my friend Donny Landess when I here this song. RIP, never forgotten❤️✊🏽
I don't know Donny, nor you, but I will think of this comment and you both everytime I listen to this in the future. Can I recommend Middle of Love by Jake Wesley Rodgers? A beautiful song in a different genre, but it gives me the same hopeful, warm feeling this song does. I hope you have a beautiful life full of stories and laughter. Bless you 🙏❤
@leximccumber9402 I don't know you but because of this message now I will think of you. I made a folder named 2024, It's where I put the music.I discovered for the appropriate year. I was on to the artist second song but how to come back and say thank you very much. You touched me from wherever you are from and again I say thank you✊🏽✊🏽❤️
It's truly sad, how many of us were alive and young in this time, who've lost so many along the journey... For me, friends, family, both my parents... My heart goes out to you all, and to those we've lost along the way. The road is long and winding. .. but we will all meet again in the end. But for now, let's remeber the good times when we were young and life was good.
This is just one of those songs you don't think would be good live -- the vocals seem too difficult to replicate with any consistency. And yet... this is probably every bit as good (if not better) than the album version.
Buddy on the flute literally waited HIS WHOLE LIFE for this moment and he killed it 🤣 also awesomely ironic that this killer performance happened at such a shit show of a festival 👏🏾
That's awesome Logan! I remember this song from the mid-90s and the Mathilda movie was a bit after my time. My daughter and wife saw the Broadway performance several years ago and I had forgotten all about it. I never knew this song was in the movie until I found this live version and saw the comments. Now I want to watch the Mathilda movie with her, but she's 15 now and not into Mathilda anymore. D'oh! Maybe I can convince my youngest to watch it with me. Lol
Thanks to the Matilda cast and crew for making this song as special as it is today. Just reminiscing of being a young kid growing up in the 90s, what a time it was 👍👏
Watched Matilda and heard this song as a little kid and now this song hits the nostalgia button as a 32 year old. Nostalgia is truly what joins us together! Don’t grow up people 🔥🔥🔥🔥
This songs makes me remember my father. Hey brought my brother and I to see them when I was a wee child. They opened for Toad The wet sprocket at mt Holyoke college. Rip Stan the man
I was a baby at the time and I wish I was there. This looks like a fun concert 🎵 to attend. Generation Z can relate. The song I remember in the movie 🎥 Matilda.
Came here after watching a TED talk by the drummer in red shirt Jim Donovan. Was intrigued that this song was used to "wake up" the Mars Rover! Pretty cool. And I really liked the song.
Song came on at a bar and I looked at my friend cuz I had never heard this talking heads song before... then I shazamed it and now I’m starting to discover a great band... I’d heard of rusted root in high school but never spun them... amazing song!
One of my best friends dad owned a party supply store here in Pittsburgh in the 90’s and early 2000’s. At one point, the entire band except the drummer was employed at one of their locations. He said they’d constantly be making beats on all the boxes and singing songs the whole time they were working but were a great group of people to have working for him. As a young adult at the time, my friends dad would give us tickets to all their concerts around Pittsburgh and we would always go. Great memories, great people, and great music! Love this!
@dan G oh I go to concerts too and bring my cell phone, just think people don’t live in the moment and live through a screen, not through their eyes, ya know? The days of people on shoulders and just enjoying a show without being focused on their phones is over
The issue is that phones suck the energy out of people when it should be on the show. Where your mind goes so does the energy. Hence their would be a collective consciousness at concerts before cell phones. This explains the power of concerts pre cell phone, or smart phones more properly speaking. Seeing an NPC on their phone at a show is no skin off my back but the lack of a collective consciousness is a bummer.
It's like a bunch of very talented highschool teachers, decided & succeeded to be an awesome band that even got their song featured in the 1st Ice Age Movie. ❤🔥
I love this song I don't know why but whenever if I listen to this song,I will feel better....😊😊😊😊the best song for for a person who takes journey alone
I enjoy classical, heavy rock, metal, pop, country. But some songs just stand out and make you smile. It’s often one hit wonders that people tap their foot to the most.
Even though he looked like he was humping his guitar at the start, I'm willing to overlook that and rate this as the best version I have heard, live as well...much respect 🙌
New morning routine for next summer: wake up at like 8, get high as hell, listen to this, make pancakes, and go on a walk. Idk seems like all my issues would go away if I did this.
I was in high school summer going into 11th grade when this started getting radio play. Always such a cool vibe against the backdrop of that great rap/ hip-hop and grunge. Talk about alternative! 👍🏻
I needed more of this and less Nirvana, and Soundgarden now that I'm looking back at those years. Oh well my kids loving Ice Age brought me around, and I'm lving this band's vibe now.
